Our sister site http://www.the8rules.co.uk has reported that:
Quote:There is some bad news for 8 Simple Rules fans in the U.K. today, ABC1, the U.K. broadcaster of 8 Simple Rules from Disney, has announced it will be closing down next month.

Lack of space on the main Freeview platform meant it could only broadcast between 6AM and 6PM. Disney has not decided wether to sell their Freeview slot or give it to one of their Disney channels.

The future of 8 Simple Rules in the U.K. is today unknown.
A sad day for many 8 Simple Rules fans in the U.K. as the only station airing the show goes off air, this as Europeans are left wondering if we'll see 8 Simple Rules on DVD.
That is very bad news for you guys, its a shame there are no DVDs for you yet.

I hadn't seen it on TV for a long time before the DVDs came out.
This sucks, now i wont be able to watch 8 simple rules any more.

I hope the dvds come out here soon!!
It is just terrible news. I enjoyed watching 8 Simple Rules during the day.
There website is gone too ... http://www.abc1tv.co.uk
Its sad, less than 2 weeks left.
About 1 year after I first discovered 8SR on ABC1...it's shutting down. I'm feeling sentimental...Sad
ABC1 has been shut down days earlier than expected, the station ceased broadcasting at 12PM today.

The UK broadcaster from the ABC/Disney company was the exclusive broadcaster of 8 Simple Rules in the UK, Disney Channel say they will not start airing 8 Simple Rules again.
That sucks, I wanted to watch 8 Simple Rules to the last possible minute Sad
It was set to air until October 1st, the last episode aired was going to be the one with Ed O'Neill.

Disney UK say they won't put 8SR back on their station, it would be nice to think another station might buy the show but Disney UK hold the rights - I don't see them giving them up, wether they're showing them or not.
