I was wondering what everybody does with their PC, do you turn it off after every use or leave it on the hours/days/weeks on end?

-------

I used to leave it on all the time, for weeks on end, but I got a new PC and so I have it go to stand-by after 30 minutes of inactivity, after 2 hours - it hibernates, which is as good as turning it off.

I think its a lot more energy efficient this way.
I use a Laptop so turn it off when I'm done so I don't drain the battery.
I leave it on more than I should Icon_redface Its too tempting to leave it on all the time, then I don't have to go through the long and boring start-up.
Depends if I'm downloading something or not, but usually turn it off before I go to bed.
I have a laptop so I just turn it off when I'm not using it.
I've owned Apple computer's since 1982, Since about 1991 when the PMU became more stable in most personal computers, I've always left them on. As long as you index your data at least twice a week and have 5 times more RAM than you use, the computer will actually improve it's response time if you keep it on. Screensavers are useless these days. Just have your drive spin down and the monitor on standby.

Shutting down a Mac when not in use
is like severing a scientist's spinal cord
just because he wasn't in the lab.

I keep mine on at all times, I have done so since the past 5 or 6 years. I was told to a long time ago and haven't changed, I don't really care if it's better to turn off now, I'm used to it so lol.
Yes, I've also heard turning it on and off too much can be bad - something about heating up and down and expanding metals? Too much for me to understand!

Yup, that is true, don't need to think about, but it can cause problems.
