He looks like he has some sort of skin condition, would of thought the make up people would of been able to cover it up unless Jim said it was ok

He's said it's because he washes them too much and that they put make-up on them to hide how red they are for the show. What I find funny is, he says that his OCD traits aren't as severe as Sheldon's, but if that were the case, wouldn't Sheldon's hands be redder than his are, not the other way round? If Sheldon's aren't supposed to be red, that suggests he's doing less damage than Jim is.

It must be Jim that washes his hands a lot because you dont really see Sheldon doing it although he did mention it when he was talking to Rajs date in the Cheesecake factory

Good point. :)

As @rachygd says, we don't really see Sheldon washing his hands very often, so maybe this particular symptom of OCD is more pronounced in Jim than in Sheldon!

We should not require Sheldon to wash his hands on screen for us to believe Jim when he says Sheldon is more neurotic than he is.

Jim probably does not have his meals planned out each night (Thai food night, Chinese food night)
Scheduled toilet time (8:20-8:25 am or whatever it is) each and every day.
I'll bet Jim does not have a bowl LABELLED for "vomit" in his cupboard.
Jim could probably stand on the roof of a building with a dirty sock present and function.

Do you really need to see Sheldon washing his hands a lot to believe Jim? Seriously??

Hmm, I was also talking about his hands specifically. It's quite possible that Jim is more OCD than Sheldon in one particular matter (any of us can be). It's in the overall that Sheldon definitely wins. :)

I doubt it. Sheldon probably washes his hand 1,000 times per day. That activity does not translate to good tv however.

Come to think of it, we haven't seen Sheldon compulsively rush off to wash his hands even once? We did see him use Purell once, but that was after handling a snake. I would do the same. :) He's also used baby-wipe sometimes.

He does run off after drinking Leonard's water and using Leonard's napkin. He is super anal about his hands when he is at the hospital with Howard's mom.

Didn't Sheldon also run off to the bathroom after Raj told him that he'd drank from his water bottle? (even though it wasn't true),then Raj hid the mouthwash in addition to freak him out even more while they all sat, laughing at him, if I remember correctly.

Oh yes! He did show that behavior in Engagement Reaction. Thanks for reminding me.

It wold seem that his washing OCD flares up at the same time when he's going through an exacerbation of his germ phobia, as it happened in that episode - naturally.

Can't think of any hand washing. He he strips off and runs to Penny's bathroom when she tells him her new chair was left on the street and a homeless man helped her carry it upstairs.

Also the napkin system he uses in The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary :icon_lol:

Leonard: Oh, damn it. Can I have a napkin?

Sheldon: I’m sorry, no.

Leonard: But you have a whole bunch of ‘em.

Sheldon: Yes, I’ve moved to a four-napkin system. Lap, hands, face and personal emergencies. If you like, starting tomorrow, I’ll add a guest napkin, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do for you today.

(Leonard steals a napkin) Good luck. That’s the face napkin.

And I think this might be same the episode where Sheldon returns to the Cheesecake Factory table and says, "I gargled with Tequila and may have swallowed a teeny bit", then Leonard asks him if he's alright, and Sheldon reponds with: "Fine. Thank you for asking....I love you so much."

I just remember how much I laughed when that aired (and when I watched my Season 4 dvd the other weekend)...It was the 'I love you so much' directed at Leonard that got me...lol

I didn't know Jim has OCD.

He says he thinks he has mild OCD-ish tendencies, but I wouldn't say he has OCD.

He has said that he does wash his hands a lot, but I don't think it interferes with his life or makes him preoccupied with germs or anything like that.
