  1. Here's something else to think about. Some people argue that when Sheldon chose the tiara as a gift, that he was totally clueless and it was an accident how much she loved it. (I, like many of you, think it was a "he just subconsciously knew" thing.) However, with the EC gift, it was absolutely clear that he knew CONSCIOUSLY what it would mean to her. There was no mistaking this one. He did something sentimental and romantic--on purpose! Awww!

  2. I find it ironic that you bring up some of the Shenny remarks at Paradox in aid of the "Sheldon changing too much" thing, basically because IF the show would go down the Shenny route he would have to be changed radically in order to make it work. And I'm so completely sure they wouldn't complain about Sheldon being changed then. It's not about wanting Sheldon asexual, or unchanged, it's about "if it's not with Penny, then he shouldn't be with anyone" and it was not me who said it, it was one of the Shenny shippers down there in that thread that said it (I think it was Fercita. I don't agree with her ships at all, but she's a very rational poster and her posts are always awesome). Because thank goodness, some Shenny shippers can take out their shipper glasses and call hipocrisy on some others. So no, I cannot take those opinions as objective. Also, since we're on the matter: So, since you ship Shenny, tell me: do you hate Penny then? why if you feel that Sheldon is such a jerk would you ever want him to be with your favorite girl on the show? The things you say do not correlate with what you ship and wish for the show to happen. Also, the "normal science nerd" kinda sounds like Leonard. And you said that "any girl with a healthy ego" would go for a guy like that, which kinda sounds to me like Penny. I think you subconciously ship Lenny then, you just don't know it Also, it's funny, because there is this whole discussion on this thread, about the Shamy being an "unhealthy" relationship and yadda yadda because Sheldon is too selfish and yadda yadda, and at the same time, usually in the same post, there is the "Sheldon has changed too much, he's not funny anymore yadda yadda" kind of argument. Contadiction at it's best. I also hate that you generalize all Shamy shippers as saying that we "love the rom-com more than anything" (especially when I've read post after post of yours saying how much the Shenny is like classical romances, and Pride and Prejudice and 40's movies and so on.... those are romantic comedies, FYI) because saying that about all Shamy shippers is not true, as it is not true that we don't care about Sheldon's change or Amy being "needy" /BTW, that label can never be used anymore after last night's episode... just saying/. My love for Amy is bigger than any ship whatsoever, so don't speak for myself. Anyway she is not a "needy" girlfriend. That's the label the people who don't like her character/hate her/ don¡t care about her put on her. The sex-starved-needy-only-wants-sheldon's-dick is NOT the Amy on the show. But hey, she is Sheldon's girfriend, so she can never win, since she is guilty of everything bad that has ever happenned to the show.... right? As well as the aspect of first saying that it is an "unhelathy" or "bad" relationship for not fullfilling the romantic standards (and more akin blah blah blah), but then, also saying that the Shamy's just LOVE the rom-com aspect. Again, sounds contradictory to me. Anyway again, back to the topic of this thread. NO, they're not gonna have Sheldon choose Amy over scientific accomplishments, because even formulating such choice is just ridiculous. Why oh WHY people still think and insist that Science cannot go hand in hand with a healthy social/romantic life, as person into Science really, really offends me.

  3. Yes, and it's obvious that she loves him right back. There seemed to be symbolism in her sitting in his spot on the couch and then scooting over. It was like she stepped into the center of his world and he was totally comfortable with it, but she didn't force her way in and instead gave him some room to be himself. Sorry for all the corny posts; I'm just totally blown away by this episode.

  4. And the obligatory "djvang hates the show and bitches about it" post for the latest episode appears. Now that the stress of wondering when it would appear is gone, we can continue to discuss the episode with that weight off our minds. Sent from my Asus Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2

  5. For a moment I just need to say something in a Safe Place: Could I beg a favour? Could we all Stop posting in that other Shamy Hating Thread, please? Even I have tried to go in there, be reasonable and have a rational discussion but alas the current Last Post is so utterly offensive, even I see: it is entirely Pointless to bother trying to have a rational conversation with that type of Hatred flying around like shite in a hurricane. Honestly the current last is beyond the pale and as much as I enjoy debating and interacting with the Topic Starter the other person is NOT interested in that level of semi-polite participation. Please, I beg you all: let that thread DIE! The main reason I ask this is because the topic starter stated that only threads of that type keep going and I would like to prove that theory Wrong. Not because of that person but because of the other. Thank you for listening to my Rant and being so understanding. This thread is my Happy, Safe Place and I think it is for a great number of people as well! TMP: *Sticks out tongue* (On my mobile the symbols are simply unavailable.) Amy is so obviously In Love with Sheldon I didn't feel the need to state it. (*Teasing to lighten my bad mood from that other thread.*) I agree with you about her stepping into his world and NOT forcing her way in as those other people Insist is the case! EDITED: Spelling of the final word. Ironically enough.

  6. I truly cannot imagine ANYONE on this planet being more perfectly suited for Sheldon than Amy. And he wants her by his side for the really scary moments in life...which, to me, speaks volumes about the seriousness of his feelings for her. I love the way he explained the reasoning behind his gift. He clearly put a lot of thought into it. And I loved the way he said so matter-of-factly, "well, you're my girlfriend." There was so much confidence in that statement. They are sooo in love. I know for sure now.

  7. No prob! Glad to be of service. I know! The spot was Sheldon's everything, like his entire universe. His constant. Then Amy sits on it. Sheldon was at the door, still befuddled and is still thinking they'd be going out to dinner. Amy sitting on it, for me, was like she was willing to enter his world (willing to try to enjoy what he loves for the evening) and him inviting him to come back and take your claim. Her moving back to the side was a literal body language saying, "come, I'll join you", added with her patting of his spot. SHE PATTED HIS SPOT. HE WOULDN'T EVEN LET A SOUL TOUCH IT. Spook is right. Remember back in 5.10 when he was asking for her to fix the splinter? He was testing her. He was checking if she were to comply. So now that she's his official EC, he's trying to test her again. Or probably it's the writers showing us that Amy was willing to put up with his shit, even if he wasn't doing it on purpose. Also, I noticed that Sheldon was willing to go to the dinner but he plans to pretend to enjoy it for her. What's saint-like with Amy is that she is willing to TRULY enjoy what he wants and what he loves. Notice that Amy was looking sly when she greeted him at the door? It's like, "Oh, you're sad now but I know you're gonna love me more after what I tell you." And then notice that he had the EC gift even BEFORE she revealed that she gives him the cancellation of everything romance-related? When she told him to return whatever he had for her, he was like, "No, not with what you just do tonight, you think I won't give this to you?" What she did to him that v-day evening only magnified the reasons as to why Amy deserves the gift he's planning to give him. Again, he was willing to sacrifice his time and go out of his way to make Amy enjoy the valentine's date. It's like he already gave a part of himself just to see her happy and to keep her that way. Because him doing it is having the same effect on him: she's happy so he's happy. She's distressed, so he's distressed. It's been that way since the finale last season (he was distressed when she wanted to have her way as a bridesmaid so he disapproves going to city hall; he sees Amy being happy that her shampoo doesn't smell like tar and that her boyfriend is friends with hawking, he's happy and all smiles too-- just freaking see my signature!) up until now. So now that he makes her his emergency contact, it's like he has already given his entire life to her. Life's worth living with her.

  8. With Sheldon, the phases are almost required to be (with some overlap) intellectual attraction, then romantic interest, then deep romantic feelings, then affectionate touching, then sexual touching. It seems season 4 was intellectual attraction, season 5 was romantic interest, and now in season 6 it's obvious that there are deep romantic feelings leading into the beginnings of physical affection. The sexual part is just starting to be on his radar because they've been doing more affectionate touching. I think there will be an episode somewhere way down the line in which they're being physically affectionate, perhaps during a hug, and he feels the first real stirrings of desire. Oh, and as much as I would love to see a big romantic scene in which Sheldon professes his love, I was thinking it would also be a funny if he said to her, "I don't love you. Bazinga, I do!"

  9. Yes! I meant to mention that--when they were sitting on the couch and he was talking to her about her gift to him, then while he was watching her read the form. She's lucky her eyes didn't get pregnant from all that coitus!

  10. More thoughts: Amy sat in Sheldon's spot! He did not become uncomfortable, nor did he demand she get off of it. Instead he was so excited and happy about her gift to him that he didn't even seem to be bothered in any way. My eyes when replaying that moment: . While Sheldon's eyes are soft with affection and dare I say it? Adoration! ... Amy pats his spot and scoots over only to have Sheldon walk over and turn his body to her on the couch. The body language in this scene is telling: He is open to her, facing her, his legs are sort of relaxed and while they are not open, they are certainly not tight together as Amy's are but rather they are parted. Notice her legs are tight together, her hands are on her knees as she has done since the beginning. I found his more relaxed manner to be quite a progression, along with his cocky attitude about what an amazing and thoughtful boyfriend he is to his assistant. And that! May I say: I adore how Alex humors his insanity! As well as the way he puffs himself up over his relationship with Amy. We've never quite seen that attitude before concerning this, at least not to this degree. Could he have been more pleased with the fact Amy is his girlfriend? I think not.

  11. A) Sheldon will never become normal. Period. B ) The people who the writers are appealing to are not "very lonely women" and to deem them as such is a wild generalization and more offensive than what you seem to think the writers are being right now. Most of my friends are enjoying the direction of the show and many of them are very happily married or in a relationship. So please, let's keep any criticism about the show exactly to that, and not about the people who watch it.

  12. I loved the episode. Penny is human end of story. And I`m, just sick and tired of the fact to see that some people compare her with a character from a 90s comedeyseries. Penny is Penny and she´s very unique. TBBT is a unique show and not a 2.0 show of this 90s comedyseries..... Sorry but thats really my true opinion. Back to the episode: Shamy was so sweet! It was nice to see Alex again. And all that money that Sheldon gave her OMG that was much :D I liked Penny & Leonard. I`ll always ship them and that they sometimes have a fight makes them humans. Pennys reaction at the restaurant was human. She was so shocked and surprised to see her exboyfriend proposing to the girl who was the girl that he cheated on Penny. Of course Leonard wasn`t happy about Pennys behaviour but they talked about it and made up. Loved his Romance Ninja *LOL* And it was great to see Stuart again. Raj was so funny with his " Later Loosers!" I cracked up *LOL* Oh and Bernie and Howard are a sweet couple! Haha Bernies comment to Howard that the X Box is there where he wouldn`t look for it :D loved it! Really a nice Valentines day episode.

  13. he, I don't know that he doesn't enjoy it. I do agree that he will never be the touchy-feely Leonard type, but 6x14 showed that he is starting to like it. That's why this one seemed a bit of a step-back. Like you said, if he can initiate hugs with Penny twice for gestures that are below this, and Wil Wheaton (!), he surely can return her hug in this context. It wouldn't have been OOC. And to me TPTB did go out of their way to have him not touch her, they even cut the knee-pat. But, again, no big deal, I personally liked the scene because of reasons other than the hug. It's like 6x10: to me the best part of that episode was when he turned around and came back to her rather than all the touching stuff that went on later. Same thing in this one. The way he looks at her says a lot (although I think right at the beginning as they sit on the couch it's Jim smiling because you see that he suddenly goes from smiling to serious like he's just remembered "Oh right, I'm Sheldon" lol).

  14. Well, most of the stuff I was going to say has been said already. I do have to say though, that I do hope this is the last time we see physical interaction between these two with Sheldon being exasperated. I think by now it's getting forced and it's only done because they're afraid the purists are going to freak out. Imo, there was NO reason he couldn't have returned the hug while saying his lines and show the audience he was both exasperated but enjoying it at the same time. Yes, it was cute, it was funny, but imo it could have been a lot better. I do, on the other hand, liked the whole premise of the date. I truly believe they were the only two that got the spirit of the holiday (even though I hate the holiday). Amy is just the most amazing girlfriend one could ask for. And while I do think Sheldon's gift showed leaps and bounds of maturity on his part, he has a lot to catch up on to make up for how good she is to him.

  15. BEST VALENTINES DAY EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 So many wonderful funny cute adorable things happened. I loved how Sheldon actually knew what Amy's favorite color was and that she loved monkeys which well I mean everyone SHOULD love monkeys right! lol. I love how he couldn't care less about dropping 2Gs on presents for her and sent Alex out to get really nice gifts then in end gave her something totally free and she loved it even more because it came from his heart. SQUEE!!! Even though I would have loved it if he kissed her too, the hug was still really funny so I'll take what I can get for now. There's still plenty of time. Amy is best girlfriend on show hands down so much nicer and more considerate than Penny IMPO. She actually knew Sheldon didn't really like going out and having to pretend like he enjoying it, so she did the right thing and stayed home with him to eat Pizza and watch Star Wars-Trek lol. That was so thoughtful and what he did for her was thoughtful even though at end it was already driving her nuts kind of like how she thought relationship agreement was romantic at first until he start bugging her nonstop lol. But, she still went to go see about his non brain tumor and his fake Asian bump so that says a lot about how much she loves him. He better never let her go cause he's never going find a better girlfriend that's for sure. I was also super happy that we got to see Dale again! I was just watching the episode of SEason five where STuart takes Amy out on a date and Dale is manning the store earlier today not knowing that he was going to be in this one so that made me jump off couch happy. He just had one scene back then and one scene this time, but I hope we get to see more of Dale cause I think he's adorable and sort of funny in the weirdest way lol. I also thought Raj's new love interest looked like she could be Dale's sister. She was very awkward and shy in a cute way I really liked that about her. I like the cute Bee shirt she was wearing I wonder if that was a nod to the Bazinga bee that got named after the phrase from the show. Either way it was so great to see Raj talking to a girl and asking her out to coffee. It reminded me so much of when SHAMY first started at a coffee shop with Sheldon offering to buy Amy a beverage and NOW LOOk AT THEM!! I know Raj's situation might not go so smoothly like SHAMY did, but I do want see him happy too someday. I lol'd at the LATER LOSERS!! though. Also, did anyone notice other two nerd girls at the comic book store listening to Raj's speech, the guys weren't freaking out to see them there like when Amy, Bernadette and Penny came to store all together. STuart should have been trying flirt with one of them. One was sitting next to Lonely Larry and one was standing up talking to nerd guys. If they were at the lonely people party must mean they are single too, so yeah I hope they find someone for Stuart too eventually. I got say the micro gift Howard was going to give Bernadette was also super thoughtful present and I wish he actually got to give it to her, but its thought that counts I guess and DOING THE DAMN LAUNDRY!! lol. I don't mind it when Howard and Bernie fight cause they always make up in the cutest ways and they are married so I seriously don't ever really see them breaking up for good like we have to worry about with other non married ones. They just fight like old married couple and then make up so it works. But MY GOD!! Penny was being such a BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean really I consider my self a Lenny shipper sort of, but man do they make it hard sometimes!! I get that she had bad break ups and relationships before and of course we all know about her commitment issues, but you know what SO FREAK WHAT! Doesn't give her the right to treat Leonard like dirt. All he tried to do was be Romance Ninja and have a nice night out with his favorite girl and another couple. It wasn't his fault that her ex cheated, she had no right to take it out on him. If she didn't want go out she could have done what Amy did and said baby lets just spend a quiet night in just two of us and make out on couch, but no she has to make night all about her past BS!! and ruin Valentine's day for Leonard too. See this is why I SHIP SHAMY so much more than Lenny now and always will. Sheldon didn't want go out either, but he was even willing to practice a fake smile just to make Amy happy and Amy was willing to give up on her night just to make him happy so that he would smile for real. His real smiles were so beautiful by the way they made me want cry. Jim Parsons is terrific actor I mean I just love him more and more he knocked it out of park tonight and so did Mayim. I'm tired of writers make Penny act like some wannabe Rachel from friends or really just any lame girlfriend from any 90s sitcom that constantly find ways to sabotage her own happiness and fine if she's not ready to get married. I'm glad Leonard said he wont propose anymore writers better make him stick to it cause I'm tired of seeing him getting gutted like he did tonight. He should be able to be romantic with his girlfriend and not be made to feel like CRAP because of it. Penny is so lucky he loves her so much because honestly if Alex had been around at end of night I almost would have wanted Leonard to dump Penny for good and go be with Alex. Penny saved herself only a little bit by at least acknowledging that she'd been a total BITCH, but she still should have apologized and she should have apologized for calling Leonard and jerk last week just because he wanted to move in with her. She acts like she doesn't want hurt his feelings, but she still does it all the time because she is SELFISH and IMMATURE and well A BITCH!! Everyone else at least tried to make day special for other people even SHELDON tried!! Penny didn't even get Leonard any gift or even mention trying to do anything special for him at all. She just well I just don't know but it makes me not like her as much as I want to but yeah besides her the episode was STELLAR and loved everything else about it!! SO GOOD JOB!!

  16. The same can be said for Amy gift as well. The forethought and symbolism behind the gifts were huge. Add the hug and it was a strong win for team Shamy.

  17. It's very late and I'm just through watching it twice. I thought it was a very apt, very sweet Valentine's episode, definitely better than TLHC. The mirror parallel between Leonard/Penny and Howard/Bernie, in the beginning and end of their double date, was rather interesting. It reflected well how married couples tend to bicker, but can end up realizing that their issues are everyday and not as serious as those who are still in the process of committing. I totally admired Leonard's behavior throughout their storyline. He sincerely tried to give her a great V-day, and then stood up firmly for himself when it became clear that Penny was messing up because of her own issues. We've seldom seen Leonard as direct with her as this - 'glaringly obvious' - way to go! The arrangement of Penny being the one to propose was a very nice resolution; and I liked Penny's scared reaction when she thought he was breaking up with her. The 'singles party' was a nice touch. Raj's speech got a few claps from me; and I'm extremely curious to see how Raj/Lucy plays out. (Saying any more would be spoilerish). I wish he hadn''t topped it with saying 'losers', though I get it was the funny tag of the scene. Also, the way he stumbled a little over his words when asking her out was remarkably well done. Good for Kunal! I thought Sheldon and Alex had some great comedic chemistry going on. Someone (Spook?) pointed out that Sheldon seemed OOC when talking to her; while I didn't find it exactly OOC, I did think he was being more 'consciously' cocky than he usually is. I thought it was a combination of his getting a bit too condescending because he has a 'sidekick' for the first time, and his feeling triumphant and upbeat about his relationship with Amy in general (eyebrow raise when he says 'girlfriend'). As for the Sheldon/Amy scene.. I'm feeling too much emotion about it right now to be able to comment. I'm just tangled up in an overwhelming sense of perfection. Will be able to say anything coherent only after sleeping on it, I think (and will restrict myself to the Shamy thread). I don't even mind that he didn't hug her back properly because there was just so much heart to the whole event.. to what she did for him, and what he did for her, and what it meant for each of them. Right now I'm busy cracking up with the tag. That was such a brilliant ending. Every line sends me in splits - 'how exactly does a bump feel Asian?' to 'brain tumor would explain a lot'. And she actually sounded like Sheldon himself when he's exasperated over the phone!

  19. Can I say that 1.) Someone here's siding with Shenny peeps because he/she is too irritated that this place is ruled by shamy fangirls so the best way to "fight" it is be a devil's advocate or the typical contrarian. 2.) Some of your reasons, as called out by Yanina there, are contradicting each other: "Amy is needy" versus "Amy needs someone better". "Sheldon is too selfish" versus "He's being changed too much too fast". 3.) Admit it, it's all "It's either they make Shenny happen or just pack up because everything else is garbage". "Even hardcore Shenny shippers would rather want Sheldon be asexual because he was funnier." Come on, obvious subtext is obvious. Because at least if Sheldon was back to being asexual, then he never had anyone in his life and there's no other woman to oppose the ongoing grasp at straws that it's still possible that Shenny's bound to happen.

  20. How creepy the situation with Kurt and Penny is depends on how you look at it. You figure she finished high school, so she's likely 18 before she moved to CA. Kurt is probably no more than 21 at the time they started dating. They might have dated a bit and even lived together prior to moving to CA. She's legally an adult, and wanted to move to CA, so moving there with her boyfriend is reasonable. The key is how much older Kurt is than Penny. The creepy part is the two episodes in Season 1 where he figures. In the pilot, Penny gets Sheldon and Leonard to retrieve her TV. Clearly she doesn't want to see Kurt even though she has her furniture to set up an apartment. Given that he sexually assaults Sheldon and Leonard (pantsing is sexual assault), it may be that Penny is afraid to get her TV. In "The Middle Earth Paradigm" he assaults Leonard again at a party (in public with lots of witnesses). Clearly he belongs in jail for either offense. I suspect this was the point where Penny has an epithany, and realizes the crowd she's with, which Kurt fits into, are not good people. Further, this is when she realizes that she would like a guy like Leonard, and hits on him. Leonard seals the connection by refusing the offer, proving he's very different from what's she's used to. Everything after that is her coming to terms with these events, including last night's episode. Leonard handed her control of the relationship upgrade.

  21. I think he is gaining a confidence. He is realizing that society looks to you as being less of an outcast when you can hang on to a significant other. In Sheldon's case, I think he is gaining a confidence in his relationship with Amy. He is starting to realize that they are far more serious than I think he really was willing to admit to himself and that has given him a confidence. So he has become cocky about it...almost like a kid showing off to another kid when he has his first girlfriend. It is "I have a girlfriend and you don't" kind of mentality. I think he realizes that he is "cooler" with a girlfriend and less of an outcast so he tries to act cooler (which comes across goofy in a way because it is rather forced). I honestly think it explains how he is feeling about his relationship with Amy in many ways. He is happy, being fulfilled and feels his girlfriend is being fulfilled as well. He now is gaining a reputation as a guy who has a girlfriend who is happy, so he is starting to feel like "Super Boyfriend" in a way. Sheldon always puffs himself up, as we know and this is just another example of that. He is animated, yes, because of the confidence, but the main thing is he is still the condescending Sheldon we all have known through prior seasons. Maybe the brow raise was about him thinking "I have a hot girlfriend...hubba hubba". I don't know, but because he did it right then, it was almost like he was relaying a message and I felt it was definitely he was considering Amy in a "not entirely pure thoughts" moment.

  23. I am going to refer to Tanael's post here below because these are many points I was going to make in reply to yours. But maybe what we're confused about is that we might be talking about different things in terms of attraction. I don't think a kiss is necessarily so sexual that he needs to have strong sexual urges to initiate that. And I also do think that 6x14 was implying he is starting to think of her in a sexual way. So, in a way, although we haven't seen a scene where, say, he wakes up from a hot dream about her, the implication in 6x14 for me is already showing the audience that he is attracted to her. I don't need to see anything more than that to justify why he would want to kiss her. I think that his hungup at the moment is partly to do with physical contact and partly to do with how people will perceive him (and he himself will perceive himself) if he gives in to these affectionate/romantic feelings he has. That's why he was perfectly happy to touch her in 6x10, because he had an excuse. It's really hard to get past the hungups that come with what defined you as a person up to that certain point in time. I think if they show him have REAL urges before he even kisses her, how the hell is he going to hold on until whatever season it is that they'll have them sleep together? I agree with Tanael that somewhere down the line, once they're used to being physically affectionate he will start feeling stuff more and more. And ITA to this. Every end of the season sets up their development in the following season.

  24. I know it's probably already been said, but I just have to say it: there is so much love in her, whole the melting mood, that she is so important to him, that he wanted her to be with him in difficult times was incredibly sweet and touching. This feeling in her is overwhelming, that she doesn't care for presents from Sheldon, the best gift for her is that he is happy. For him she wants to be in the apartment, and she wants to watch what he likes, to do something that will make him happy. This is so beautiful and touches the heart. And for Sheldon did not matter that she sat down in his place, only she was important to him in that moment, a gift from her, and when she hugged him tightly, regardless of this that he wants to stop her, he not pushed her away, he remained in her arms, and he liked it in some way. It is in his gentle smile. Just perfect couple    And I want to say it that is pleasure to be here with you and share all of this feelings with you. And this is not flattery. Thank you.

  29. haha I'm going to be the one crashing this enthusiasm. Apologies in advance. I thought it was rather underwhelming (watched it only once and rewatched some bits though, so I might change my mind). The two scenes I liked were the last Lenny scene and the Shamy scene, but other than that I thought there was something off in this episode. Sheldon was really weirdly characterized in the scenes with Alex, I can't quite put my finger on it. The way they had Penny ruin the evening at the restaurant also seemed a bit forced and some of the stuff they said to each other there was.. ouch. I was disappointed with Dale, I was looking forward to him returning but there was nothing funny there. And I didn't find the H/B story that compelling, although they are cute, as always. But, I LOVED that they finally had Penny say out loud that she has a commitment issue. To me, it was the counterpart to Sheldon's declaration in 6x14. They are now both acknowledging they have issues and they are very aware of it. I agree that they made it sound like Leonard will wait forever, but hey... he loves her. I said many times that one of my main dream scenarios would be for Penny to propose to Leonard and now that it sounds like this is what's going to happen I'm extremely satisfied. Amy was top notch. She truly is an amazing girlfriend. I just wish the writers would loosen Sheldon up a little. I loved his gift, I know some are saying he was being his selfish self but I think you're missing the point. I also had the same reaction when I read the taping report but he's essentially telling her she's the one person he wants by his side if something bad happens to him, that means a lot. Also, the way he presented it as it was a gift he had thought about and come up with taking into account what it means to her and to him shows great growth, imo. And her reaction should be enough to explain how much that is meant to mean. The only thing I'm starting to get aggravated by is that the writers are really trying to keep him too rigid. The world is not going to come crashing down if you let him return a hug at least once a year and have him enjoy it. eta: HOLY CRAP did Amy kind of sat in his spot??? eta2: The tag is hilarious. LOL. 30. If we waited for the airing of episodes to discuss them, we'd have a lot fewer pages (but not as much fun).

  31. Just seen the bit where amy goes to sheldons, the conversation they had was proper grown up and very sweet and the eye coitus

  32. Amy seemed to be in tears or at least nearly in tears. They gathered in her eyes as she realized the very nature and grand sphere of his gift to her. The look she gives him is strangely beautiful. It is as though she is saying with her eyes, "I belong to you," and she is overcome with emotion. Before that moment she is very careful not to press onto him with her body language. The gift she has given him is freedom from a traditional romantic Valentine's Day and she is very careful to not even suggest that she is desiring a cuddle on the couch. Personally I feel her body language to him is to set him completely at ease with the magnitude of what she is willing to give up to please him. It is only when she is overcome with her emotions does she grab hold of him!

  33. Just re-watched the scene and couldn't help but notice there was just something a bit different in the undertone. I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it was their comfort level with each other and their body language? Not sure, but I do know that I absolutely loved it! Initially, I thought that Sheldon keeping the drawing for himself was lame, but then I remembered he knows Amy better than anyone. He gave her something that was far more meaningful and it was just so touching! And Amy just rules. Flat out.

  34. In tonight's episode, Sheldon and Amy said I love you to each other--not using those "three little words," but in their own language.

  35. I give this episode an A or A+, The reason is Penny was kinda bitchy tonight but she recognized when confronted. Leonard was excellent tonight and even with some insecurity he called Penny to the carpet. She then admitted her failings with commitment. She also was scared that Leonard would break up with her, so she has tamed her arrogance. This is no longer a one way relationship. Leonard's insecurities were out front and a lot of Penny's were hidden, but she has admitted them to Leonard. Shamy was great. Usually I don't like more than two story lines and this had many but since it was around one theme it worked well.

  38. I almost cried when Amy read her name at the bottom of that paper and found out SHeldon made her his emergency contact. MAYIM DESERVES THAT EMMY!! She and Jim nailed all emotional moments in that scene without being too over top with it the way Lenny always end up doing. Jim's fake smile as SHeldon was hilarious, but what warmed my heart was seeing his face light up for real and the geniune smile he had on his face when Amy was reading the paper. It was perfect!! Amy is best girfriend ever for him, he better never let her go cause she was actually thinking about him and willing to give up the night she wanted for him unlike *cough Penny cough* MAN IS SHAMY THE BEST OR WHAT!! I know there was no kiss tonight, but the hug was hilarious and I love it that even though Sheldon isn't comfortable with hugging all time, he still never pulls away or gets mad he just lets her get it out. He really is best boyfriend she could ever ask for too. I hope they never break up and well yeah I'm basically already planning their wedding in my head lol. As of now I'm still on Amy's four year plan timeline and I say maybe when they get married it should destination wedding either at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland or where ever they filming next Star Wars films and then they can take a train ride around Europe for their honeymoon and Amy should wear a lovely gray wedding dress and her tiara of course...and yes there must be Klingon invitations and perhaps some SKYWRITING. I also loved that Sheldon cares so little about money that he just pulls it out from everywhere and was willing to let Alex spend $2000 on presents for Amy. But, in end the free present he gave her meant so much more just like free present she gave him of cancelling reservation so they can stay home though well I guess maybe Amy was paying for the pizza, but still thats not the point its thought that counts lol. SHAMY really have grown so much as a couple and frankly I love them lot more than I do Lenny now and forever. Just the fact that Amy was still willing to go see about him even though she knew his illness was going be nothing big probably just a mosquito bite or something and she was so busy at work at the end, but she went anyway yeah that was awesome. I really can't say enough good things about this couple. I just know i'll be watching Shamy scenes most every week and rewind them over and over the most because of how great they are together.

  39. I though the mirror image at dinner was interesting. Howard is acting like a kid, and Bernadette is trying to get him to act responsibly. Leonard is trying to have a grown up Valentine's (with a lot of prep to get a table at a nice place like that on Valentine's Day) and Penny is acting childish. Also, he bailed Howard out by including them on his date and sharing the table. It seems like L/P's relationship always moves forward when Leonard Is strong in front of Penny. Tonight was a great example, as he called her out, and made her talk to him about the problems. His solution was brilliant as he made it clear how he felt, and respected her issues at the same time. The thing that will be fun is that he will no longer gIve Penny that assurance of proposing to her from time to time. It should the effect of hurrying her along as her insecurity will no longer be calmed by his proposals. I also loved Sheldon blowing his cheeks out in exasperation with Amy's long hug.

  40. Besides all the great feelsy stuff, we saw subtle displays of intellectual compatibility. She agreed with him about the rectum having a sense of taste (OK, maybe intellectual wasn't the right word, lol) and he got excited about the brain cell drawing. This is a clear example of seeing what I want to see, but I think the reason he loved it so much is that it reminded him of her.

  41. Wow, that is probably so true. Leonard lucked out tonight.

  42. Yes, Penny thought she loved Kurt. She was a teenager when she started living with him and what she considered love she has questioned for the first time this season. She started out this season completely confused about the feelings she had for Leonard, because she did not have the "explosions" she thought was love. Leonard's love seemed boring to her. She now is coming to terms with the fact that the slow, building heat of her bond with Leonard is actually the long term real deal.

  45. Love in a relationship does not mean it is a healthy relationship though... I assume Amy wants a complete and healthy relationship. I did not define it in physical terms although even before sex their should be a physical component. Physical attraction would be a good place to start. We don't know to what degree Sheldon's humor will be compromised in order to accomodate Amy. If he doesn't change enough it denies Amy, if he changes too much, it denies humor. It is a tight-rope I wish they were not out on. Hating the direction of the show and hating the show are two different things. Besides bold titles on a message board always get more attention... message board topic creating 101.

  46. I made a whole thread on what I like about the show just to keep this from continuing to come up. You can find it in "The Show". I believe I called it something like "Why are you still watching" or something. But that is the problem I keep running into. Shamys are so obsessed with their ship if you don't like it suddenly you must hate the show entirely. That is ridiculous.

  47. On a dusty highway outside of Bakersfield... What does Sheldon suggest they do when he asks Penny if she wants to go out on a date with him?

  48. Ok. I have been raised a completely fair question. Why do I have a problem with it when I know it is a sitcom? First, as it stands now it really bothers me. I dislike what I see based on my own experiences. Again, I have seen women and one man in these kinds of relationships and it is heartbreaking. I realize this may change but just because getting a tooth pulled will ultimately be a relief the process of it getting pulled is still painful. Second, they are probably going to drag this out for quite some time yet which will prolong her waiting. Third, in order for Sheldon to give her the fairy tale ending he will have to be a lot more like Leonard. He would actually need to be even better than Leonard but this is a sitcom not a romance novel. If he doesn't make that transition how can he ever be a proper boyfriend? I really think that is going to dry up a lot of the original humor and we will have more romcom than anything else.
