  2. 1. She never got over him. That's why she's back with him right now. 2. Yes, that would make her a hypocrite if she felt she was allowed to date but he couldn't. The thing is, she never told him he couldn't, just like he never told her she couldn't. Even if inside, she didn't want him seeing other women, her reaction on the stairs made total sense. 4. I think her asking Sheldon for a break so that she could think in the beginning instead of breaking up completely was as "trying hard enough" as it gets. Amy knew she loved him enough to not want to completely part ways with him but Sheldon blew it for himself by being an ass. Yes, even if he was a jerk at times, he certainly proved that he loved her and wanted her back but he wasn't respecting her simple wish of needing time to think about everything. He kept bothering her...even asked if she wanted to move in with him and as we saw of her face in that scene, she was very annoyed. Who would be encouraged to go try really hard when their ex doesn't even seem to respect them enough to follow a simple wish of needing space and time? Finally, Sheldon gives up after a while and they spend months apart until the day they go to the aquarium when Amy is reminded of how wonderful he is and that she misses spending time with him and suddenly, she wants back into the relationship. Sheldon shot her down and in my opinion, she had it coming to her. You can't just be away from someone that long without an explanation of any kind and then want back in again because you had a great day with them and realized what you loved and missed about them. They were each others first everything. They only did the very best they knew how through the 5 years they were together and their break up. Sheldon was always good with communication, for the most part....just not always in a pleasant way. Amy, on the other hand, often bottled things up inside, which wasn't fair to herself or Sheldon. It's a learning experience for them both.

  4. and not from pics but in their behavior, they're both bubblier and Amy in particular has been flirtier - batting her eyelashes and seeming a little more blushy... and Sheldon seems more confident and perky (when he's not sick lol). this could just be 99% the biased shipper in me seeing this of course...

  6. We are stuck with the wedding, but why didn't we get a reception or a Honeymoon? Would it be hard to have them go off to Hawaii and show a couple made up stage scenes of them in Hawaii. They could do some quick funny scenes of them on vacation like they did with Ramona and Sheldon when she had him trapped working. Like a scene of Penny tanning while Leonard is covered under an umbrella, him bring her a drink and tripping on something to pour it on her or even a room scene where Penny has to rub his back with cream because he is sunburnt, the writers can make it funny and still give them a nice Honeymoon.

  10. Fun fact: Back in the day there was apparently also a pregnancy test involving rabbits. Sadly, due to its nature the poor creatures wouldn't survive the test. However this led to the misconception that only those rabbits died when the woman was pregnant, which then led to the phrase "the rabbit died" as a euphemism for a positive pregnancy test. Which then leads us back to the V-Day episode and Howardette dealing with a little bunny. (If anyone was wondering what that joke is all about.) Speaking of V-day, I just saw the promo photos and the FWF segment already looks hilarious. Can't wait for that! lol

  11. Thanks to April and Kathy2611 for clarifying what that poll was about. I was wondering about it too. As for my thoughts on this, I think both Sheldon and Amy had a little bit of growing up to do. Amy needed to let go of some of her idealistic notions of what romance should be and to recognize that what she has with Sheldon is what’s right for her. Sheldon needed to understand how important Amy is in his life, that she’s not just an afterthought to schedule around his work, and that her wants and needs in the relationship are just as important as his own. It’s unfortunate, but it was probably important for them to be apart to come to these conclusions, imo. Amy had her opportunity for a different kind of romance, but she found that she’d rather be with Sheldon. Sheldon got to see what role Amy really played in his life by having to be without her for a time. I imagine Sheldon now fully understands why they need to reside on the same planet! Anyway, I don’t know that their time apart requires an apology. It’s just a life experience that they both needed, and I’m not sure that there was a better way for the two of them to figure these things out. Having said that, a discussion in the aftermath might still be a good idea in order to clarify what they went through and where they’re at now. That needn't necessarily happen onscreen, though.

  12. I somehow started an argument about the human gestation and then went to bed last night - I apologise! A baby is considered 'full term' at 40 weeks. 7 days x 40 = 280 /by average no of days in a month = 9.3 months which is closer to 10 months than 9 A baby born between 36 - 40 weeks is considered 'normal' so some women are pregnant for closer to 8 months, some are pregnant for closer to 10. In the UK they won't let you go past 42 weeks pregnant without induction. Which is why people say 9 months pregnant as that is the average expected pregnancy length. Where we live the midwife takes the first day of your last period and counts 40 weeks from that date as your 'due date' even if the ultrasound later tells you different your pregnancy file keeps the original calculated estimated due date (EDD) so you are considered to be 1 month pregnant as soon as you miss a period. Where my Mother and Sisters live they don't give you an EDD until you have had a dating scan. Scans (where we live) are done at 12 and 20 weeks gestation, no 9 week scan or dating scan. You only get additional scans if there is an issue they need to keep an eye on. Our maternity hospital have also stopped estimating the sex of the child so private ultrasound businesses are booming here. As our NHS uses the midwife count and not the ultrasound date, all 3 of our kids were considered to be premature despite all being just under/over 9lbs in weight and 52cm (around 20 inches) long. TL;DR different countries/medical practitioners do things differently. Average pregnancy falls somewhere between 8 and 10 months. Congratulations everyone is right!

  17. Week 19 Overnights, Demo Breakouts, 29 January, 2016 CBS ran two TBBT episodes last night, both repeats. At 8:00PM, it was 9.04 The 2003 Approximation. It pulled in a 2.0 Demo, with a 7 Share, and 9.62 Million viewers. At 9:00 PM, the episode 9.05 The Perspiration Implementation pulled in a 1.7 demo, with a 6 share, and 7.79 million viewers. For Demo, in first, was Amercian Idol with a 2.3, down a tenth from last week. In second was the 8 PM TBBT, with a 2.0, down two tenths from last week, and in third was the 9 PM TBBT with a 1.7, down three tenths from last week. For viewers, the repeat TBBT at 8PM was first with the 9.62 million viewers, down 1.4 million from last week's number one. American Idol was second with a 8.77 million, down 500,000 from last week's second place show and third was the 9 PM TBBT repeat with 7.79 million viewers, down 1 million viewers from last week's third place show. In the 18-3 demo, American Idol was first with a 2.5 (up 0.9), second was TBBT at 1.8(+ 0.6) and in third was The Blacklist at 1.7 (+0.6). In the 25-54 demo, American Idol had a 3.1 (-0.2) for first. In second was the 8 PM TBBT at 3.0 (down 0.1 from the second place show last week), and the 9 PM TBBT was third with a 2.6 (down 0.2) from the third place show last week). Some of the drop in the older skewing demo may have been related to the Republican debate. Again, remember, both TBBT were repeats and pretty much finished in the top three against new programming for the night. The first hour of American Idol, (the hour that goes up against TBBT), was lower than the second hour by two tenths in demo, and over 300,000 viewers. The finals will be up later this afternoon, when they come in.

  18. Oh.my.gosh. Of course you're right, I knew this about rabbits but never even connected it to Howardette's pregnancy in my mind. Lol...oh my gosh how I LOVE the writers!!!

  19. Yeah, so many missed opportunities. So far the writers are not willing to give us at least one or two Lenny-centric episodes without drama and/or angst this season. We shall see, what the nine remaining tapings will bring.

  20. It would have been so hilarious...but I guess that ship sailed long ago, now too much time has passed and so many other things have happened, I don't think we will ever have an on-screen answer to that question. But, I was wondering, maybe it has also something to do with Bernie's pregnancy and the announcement of it. Assuming that our hypothesis that the title "The.....Reaction" for the next episode refers to the gang's reaction to the new baby, then having an episode (or even few scenes) about the gang\boys "reacting" to the announcement of Shamy coitus would have meant to have too similar close plots...Of course, another important reason was that when they taped the first two episodes after 9.11 TPTB were not sure yet that the audience was ok with the new developments (they were taped before 9.11 aired) so they preferred not making coitus a central part of the relevant plots, and after that, it would have been odd to come back again to that topic.

  21. I totally thought the same. I want Amy running around telling Sheldon excitingly and counting down the days till it opens.

  22. What I would like, I think, is for Bernie to try to tell the girls during a girls' night out, before she tells Howard even because she is trying to get her head around it, and for Sheldon to crash the party because of some petty grievance he wants the girls' help on. So then it turns into a Sheldon Cooper and his Council of Ladies War Room Session. Bonus points if a ) Bernie swears Sheldon to secrecy (because we all know how well that will go) and it is that that somehow precipitates a nice whiteboard session among the guys where they hypothesise about what might have happened and what it could mean b ) while the girls are in parallel wondering about the consequences c ) bonus BONUS points if Sheldon and Amy both calmly discuss the early development literature they have read and the experiments they would run on the child.

  23. Here is what I wish would happen: Leonard and Penny would have a reception with all their friends and family, and at some point in the evening they would show the recording of their wedding in full. That way, we would finally get to see the ring exchange and their first kiss as husband and wife. They could use only first names to keep from revealing Penny's last name. Not everyone uses full names at their wedding, and considering it was a less formal Vegas wedding, it would not be unbelievable to viewers. They would obviously have to shoot additional scenes in their wedding clothes, but it would be so worth the trouble. I think even casual viewers still feel ripped off by the wedding the writers gave us. I doubt the writers would do something like this, but it would go a long way towards undoing the damage done by the disasterous mess they gave us in the premiere. I wanted a wedding I could watch and rewatch. What I got was an episode I watched twice and haven't wanted to see since. At least the vows were genuine, heartfelt and pure Lenny.

  26. Am I the only one who categorizes Shamy pics now as either pre/post coitus? Its weird, but I think I wasn't ready, everything has more weight now for no real reason!
    4 points
  27. ^^^Shamy's coitus was a private moment between two people, not meant to be witnessed. Leonard & Penny's wedding was being streamed so their friends could witness it. They could not as it was interrupted by Sheldon picking a fight (successfully) with Amy....
    4 points
  28. I don't remember the guys talking over the sounds of coitus. I do remember Sheldon and Amy having a fight while the mumble ceremony could be heard in the background. So, no, coitus wasn't interrupted. You were trying to downplay Kasey's comment "I waited for this?" I was just pointing out no matter how it was promoted, or what the producers responsibility, I felt the wedding sucked.

  29. And ok, here we go...former biology major hat going on for a sec. No matter what used to happen where or what scans are done when here are the basics of pregnancy. A "normal" (average) pregnancy is 40 weeks. However that does not mean that you are pregnant for 40 weeks. Pregnancy is dated from the first day of the last period, not from conception. An average cycle is 28 days and ovulation typically occurs around day 14 (though both these days can vary widely....though the time between ovulation and the beginning of a period itself is actually much less prone to variation...the real issue is that most women don't know exactly when they ovulate). So, basically, you are considered "pregnant" for two whole weeks before you ovulate, on paper. Clearly you're not, though. So the average pregnancy is in fact 38 weeks from assumed ovulation date to expected delivery date. 38 X 7 = 266 days 266 days / 30 days avg per month = 8.87 months. Rounded to 9 minutes months. Voila...the idea of a 9 month pregnancy. Of course not even this is really true, because you're not really pregnant until implantation occurs in the uterus which can take 5-10 days AFTER ovulation to occur...so even a little less time actually "pregnant." All this is why early scans can be helpful for dating pregnancies...if you are someone whose cycle varies significantly from the "28 day, ovulation on day 14" norm them a very early scan (< 8 weeks post-ovulation) can help more accurately date the baby's age as initial growth rates of healthy babies are pretty standard. However, much later than that scans are generally NOT used to change EDDs in most areas, as fetal development varies greatly in later pregnancy, even as early as the 2nd trimester. Full term is now actually considered 37-40 weeks (35-38 weeks after ovulation). However in most areas doctors won't try to halt labor that occurs after 36 weeks (or even 35 weeks) because the methods of arresting labor have risks as well and most babies born at that gestation do well with monitoring and a bit of aid (still, they are considered premature if delivery occurs before 37 weeks, whether or not they require medical intervention.). Additionally, apparently many industrialized nations are moving towards not wanting women to go past 41 weeks (39 weeks after ovulation) now (used to be 42/40) because the risks to the baby (reduced amniotic fluid levels and meconium aspiration primarily) increase measurably between 41 and 42 weeks. Hope some of that info was helpful if anyone still had questions.

  30. Week 19 Early Household Ratings, 29 January, 2016 TBBT ran a repeat of episode, 9.04 The 2003 Approximation at 8:00 PM and it had a 6.1 Household Rating, with a 10 Share (6.1/10) At 9:00 PM, episode 9.05 The Perspiration Implementation ran, and it had a (4.9/8) In households, number one was the 8:00 PM TBBT (which was a repeat) with that 6.1 Household rating (drop of one point from last week's repeat), with a 10 share (down one point), in second was American Idol at a 6.0/10, down five tenths in households and even in share). Remember this was a new show. In third, was a tie between the 9:00 PM repeat of TBBT and a new Blacklist at 4.9/8. Down seven tenths in households, and down one in share from last week's third place show. I'll point out that last week's third place show was a new run of "Life in Pieces". The overnight viewers and demos will be up as soon as I get them.

  36. So far, no spoilers of the next two episodes on that thread [phew!]. I almost got a heart attack from some of the posts there, though. Especially from non-ShAmy shippers. Thank God I survived. Anyways, here are my thoughts: Amy should not apologize to Sheldon. She only asked for some time to step back and re-evaluate their relationship in the first place. Sheldon brought the breakup to himself by not giving Amy what she needed. It did good to both of them, right? He learned his lesson. She learned her lesson. It's all good! They realized that there is no one better than each other. It all worked out well. Maybe some people, like Sheldon, need closure so bad and they want to see the two of them talking about the breakup and feeling sorry for things they did. But come on guys... we don't need this drama. The important thing is that ShAmy is in a happy place right now. I also think it's too late to bring this up. They should have talked about it in The Earworm Reverberation or The Opening Night Excitation or just for the sake of argument, a flashback on any future episodes, maybe? Long live ShAmy!

  41. I'm so happy to see Shamy doing FwF again!! Even with them both looking annoyed with Raj and Kripke they're both so cute -- and they're in it together! I know this thread has been kind of bummed out as of late (and to be perfectly honest I really don't understand why! we've been given so much Shamy goodness! so I blame the hiatus!), so it's awesome that we have these next two episodes showing Shamy "on the same page" -- one of our big wishes we kept bringing up when we were discussing what we wanted to see in Shamy 2.0! I really look forward to them clinking mug and glass at the end with Sheldon saying he wanted to do it again I'm hoping and thinking it won't be the only thing we will get to see them "do again"! Bring on Meemaw and FwF! (and of course the next taping report!)

  50. But if the Lenny wedding was ONLY considered "an event" by the advertisers, then it doesn't make me feel any better. It suggests that the producers didn't/don't think it's that big of a deal as I think you alluded to in the post where you discussed the CBS advertisers. I remember one time my oldest told me "Mom stop trying to fix my problem and just listen". It's the same principle here. "Stop trying to justify or make excuses and just let those feel the way they want to feel". Amen?
