I'll be honest and say that I was disappointed with the way the proposal was handled....not hearing Amy say " yes "....not seeing Sheldon put the ring on her finger....no kiss So....in regards to the wedding....I want it ALL!!!!! I want to hear sweet, quirky vows.. I want to see them put the rings on each other's fingers.. I want to hear them say " I do ".. I want to hear them pronounced " husband and wife "..and.. I want to see a PASSIONATE KISS!!!!

Those ads should disappear now. I have removed the code that Google Adsense recently changed from the forum template. As the ad code was hard-coded into the page, it wasn't possible to turn this on/off for guests/members. So the recent changes by Google meant the new ad formats were showing to members where they shouldn't be.

Given the way the wedding has been pIanned so far, I think it's safe to say Amy wiII have a "formaI" wedding gown, it aIso fits to the romantic side of her character. TBH, I reaIIy wished I was a fIy to spy the costumes rehearsals that I assume are\wiII be going on about that, to find a wedding dress that is Amy's styIe wiII be a fun challenge for the costume department. If I remember correctIy, Mayim said it took a coupIe of attempts to find the "right" outfit for ON and for 10.11, and the finaI resuIt was true to the character, I hope they manage to continue on this route.

So I guess we're having two invisible babies now... I get that it is much easier this way but to me it has become ridiculous. Feels like they're playing pretened (or in professional terms, makes it hard to suspend my disbelief).

Imo more important than kisses is the emotion(s) characters may hold in a scene and Shamy most of times are masters on that! Btw, when I speak about a passionate kiss this season is one like these they shared in 10.11: sweet and enthusiastic, you know. Not anything too hot or close to a GoT kiss, lol! It is like bed scenes. Shamy ones are very interisting and often sweet without physical stuff going on usually. Also I am fan of that things we can read between the lines. They make the imagination of the viewers running wild and imo that's awesome! Honestly what I hope badly we can see on screen is a Shamy cuddle. My hope is still alive, until the last episode of this show!

A pic from the comic book store set from Ashley Jones' IG. I guess it was taken at the day of the taping for the Gates episode. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bflr6mglEBo/

I believe they might have at least been thinking about dress models and about the dress style. If the wedding might happen in season finalle, the time is starting to running out!

After a long run to... ...Penny seems have changed her mind. (taken from TBBT You Tube Channel.)

I really don't understand why it's so important that we must actually see any of the babies. It works totally fine for me that the babies are invisible because with a cast of seven people and a screen-time of just 18-19 minutes per episode every minutes counts and should be focused on the main cast.

I so hope for a grand wedding but... historically TBBT weddings have been small on scale. I am so excited to see her dress. Do you think the costumes have it already?
  12. 5 points
That's true. I have found it hard to really get into/invested in any storyline involving parenthood on the show really. Sure I really enjoyed the first pregnancy and the freshness/challenges it brought but post birth those stories and challenges don't really interest me much. Does the fact that they are invisible play a role in that feeling? Absolutely.
  13. 4 points
The way they kiss is not what makes them unique to me. As said, on this show they keep it pretty tame for all the couples.

It a TV Show with made up characters not real life with real people. TV Shows don't necessarily follow real-life and never have. They don't really have to either. In the 1950s Lucy Ricardo was pregnant for 3 Months (which it is possible those 3 Months of Epsidoes took place over 6 or 7 Months but still doesn't make sense) and in the 1990s Roseanne Connor was pregnant for over a year! In the 1960s TV was full of made up things that could never happen in the real world. A lot of Shows on TV then were living in a fantasy world. The Dick Van Dyke Show was one of a few shows during that time that was actually true to the real world around them. It showed/ portrayed life in the 1960s more realistically than most shows airing during that time. About the baby never being seen. well yeah, that has happened on almost every single show when a baby is born going back to I Love Lucy! I guess you never notice. There a good reason for that and it is because babies (and Kids under a certain age) cannot be exposed to those studio lights for too long. It i is not safe for them to be under all those lights for too long. They also are pretty limited in how much screen time. And they do mention Hallie quite often when she not around. Wehn Howardette is at Lenny Hallie is usually sleeping in their room. And what is wrong with Bernadette trying to balance a career and motherhood at the same time? There nothing fake about that. My Mom did it for years and did a pretty good job of it!
  15. 4 points
Yeah but with Howard's mother it was a combination of the distinctive voice and accent, personality (stereotype Jewish mother) and dialogue. You get none of that with Halley and presumably their son. I fully understand why they made the decision they did and the reasoning for it, but that doesn't change that I think there is something lacking because of the decision and in particular like @bfm referenced to in regards to certain stories.
  16. 4 points
The only episode I enjoyed with "Halley" in, was the one where she called Penny mommy. The look on Bernadette and Howard's faces was priceless.
  17. 4 points
I've already grown tired of this gag so having it doubled just annoys me... I like that they are touching on real, important challenges like who will go back to work and a sucessful career woman balancing career and family. However, I have a hard time relating to stories/dialogues regarding the relationship of the characters with Halley.
  18. 4 points
Wanna bet they never reference the book ever again haha. I am hopeful it comes back.

All this kissing talk keeps bringing me back to Comic Con 2015 when Kunal asked Mayim about kissing Jim.... "Our kisses had never been "make-outie" - regarding S/A in the couch scene in the Season 8 finale "We both know how to kiss differently than our characters do"
  20. 3 points
I love babies. And I need to see them all the time on this show!
  21. 3 points
Yeah, I'm also team "I don't care about seeing the babies". We only see a glimpse of the gang's life anyway so I don't have a problem if the situations they chose don't have one of the kids in sight. They are still very present in the character's lives and so far I'm fine with how they worked around having a baby on set.
  22. 3 points
Bingo! I concur with your deduction.
  23. 3 points
It's just not the kind of show to do "real" (by which I assume you mean some actual French kisses or similar?) kisses at all. Most you only see cute pecks, not just for Shamy.
  24. 3 points
I'm sorry but I do not understand what you find confusing about bfm's post. I find her post pretty clear and self-explanatory. Obviously all of us know that Hallie (or in this particular case Hallie's voice) is played by an actor. In regards to filming a baby (not in front of a live studio audience but in pre-taped scenes) I'm sure it can be done with no risk to the baby. I have seen plenty of babies in movies so in all honesty I don't know what you're talking about. To end, let me just ask you what episodes you've actually seen Hallie in because while I've heard her (the actor portraying her voice), I don't remember ever having seen her in any episode. So what we're saying now is that a team with the prestige, experience, knowledge and resources as the team that makes TBBT cannot get (and film) a baby of the appropriate age, physical attributes and appearance needed for the role? I find that hard to believe. TPTB are very experienced TV people, and I am sure they could pull it off if they wanted to .

Lenny is the forgotten couple. These writers do an episode and when the are almost finished, they find out that they didn't mention Lenny, so they throw them some scraps.
  26. 3 points
The couple of 'firsts' on the show, living in their own detached house so have the room and away from the other characters. It made sense they would be the first. Bernie wouldn't be the first woman to not like the idea of having kids but then once you have your own that opinion changes, Howard has matured a lot over the years, don't let some of the stuff with Raj this season cloud that.
  27. 3 points
Oh yeah it's a very low bar set that it has to clear going off past weddings. All IMO of course, there may be fans of the previous weddings on the show Biggest thing I am looking out for right now is some Amy parents casting news!
  28. 3 points
In my honest opinion, Bernadette is the last woman on the show, besides Leslie Winkle, to be a mother. Howard is the last guy. Maybe if he grows up, that might change. I mean something is definitely wrong if your wife has to give you an allowance and tracks your progress in completing household jobs. I know this is a comedy, but come on, that's messed up even for comedy.

It will be interesting to see what style they go for. There is the argument for something say more vintage looking (a trend which always seems to come back into fashion every so often) but then if Amy has this kind of fairytale style princess thing going on lol in regards to weddings then it could be something say more modern. I wouldn't say that the dress she wore as a bridesmaid at city hall and then for Howardette's wedding on the rooftop was that older fashioned in terms of style. I think there is some flexibility there in terms of choice knowing what we know about her character and would be fine with something more vintage or actually something more modern.
  30. 3 points
Even if she gets a new dress (could be, Penny had a pink one on Vegas and a white, more traditional one for the redo) I hope it would be something that is "Amy", that matches the character.

This show has always played on the fact its like 3D comic book characters. I have never seen this show as a Family Show. So it does not bother me we don't see babies on this show. I Find the baby noise riduclous and unorganic though.
  32. 2 points
I don't want to see any babies ever, so I'm loving it. But I can understand why not everyone feels that way. I agree that we've got something like 18 minutes of show now. I also don't want to waste time looking at the baby. The other characters need storylines, which they aren't getting as it is. I don't want them to take what time we have and look at the babies with it.

I find them all pretty awkward in their own way - which fits the show.

Got to agree with @April here that the show kisses are fairly tame for pretty much all of them. That Lime kiss maybe was an exception but I saw kisses after that and they are mainly pecks. Howard and Bernie rarely kiss and when they do they are small. I think that is just the way the show is. It doesn't bother me that much lol
  36. 2 points
I'd like this couple to keep some uniqueness so it seems right to me that they not look like more stereotypical couples..
  37. 2 points
To be fair the proposal was sort of in character but it could have been handled differently, I agree. I want all what you want, too In terms of passionate kisses I think all we might get is a “film kiss” like in “The Earworm Reverberation” which was actually not on the lips if you look closely. It just looked passionate. I don’t know, a real kiss is probably asking too much of the actors, is it? I once saw a making of Shamy where they explained that Shamy kiss differently that everybody else. I guess we have to consider that as well.

They had never shown baby Halley, not even for a bit. Yes they have shown some other kids for a few seconds but they could shoot a real baby as baby Halley. Again many shows did that.

Although the way they wrote all her misgivings and worries about child rearing was a thoughtful and intelligent portrayal. However my comment about Lenny conceiving a child was meant more as a process where they would go through the joy and disappointment of trying to conceive. I think they could have intelligently written that as well as they did for Howardette. Maybe they still can

In terms of dress style I kind of like the dress Amy wore in “The Proposal Proposal”. I have just tried to wreck the internet for it but I couldn’t find anything that shows the whole dress. So I am going to show you a picture I took from my own television a couple of weeks ago. Admins please remove it if it is not okay. The dress kind of hides some zones and it is elegant while it still looks so Amy Mayim wore something similar after the taping last Wednesday. The dress was in one colour only and a little bid looser with long sleeves. In terms of a wedding dress this style could be in white or in a creamish colour.

But they let the woman who hates kids married to a guy who is more than a baby himself have not one but two kids. that was very intelligent.

I see. To me it is just a gag like Howard's mother was. She reminded me of the neighbour in Home Improvement named Wilson in that usually one could only see part of his face. . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Home_Improvement_characters#Wilson_Wilson,_Jr. There is a list of unseen characters in american TV (including TBBT) given here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unseen_character#US_television

Just finished watching next week's episode. Bernie was hilarious throughout, especially in the yoga scene with Penny. I've missed her with her having so little screentime this season. Now about to watch next week's Young Sheldon.

"TO THE RED COUNTRY and part of the gray country of Oklahoma, the last rains came gently, and they did not cut the scarred earth. The plows crossed and recrossed the rivulet marks. The last rains lifted the corn quickly and scattered weed colonies and grass along the sides of the roads so that the gray country and the dark red country began to disappear under a green cover." One of the best openings of a novel I've ever read.......I can hear this as an offstage narration to open the play. Again, congratulations @Tensor !
