  1. Maybe she is a tad needy, but it's understandable.
  2. I was wondering why a Frisbee appears larger, the closer it gets… and then it hit me. What is the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don’t know, and I don’t care. I couldn't quite remember how to throw a boomerang, but eventually it came back to me. My neighbor's in the guinness book of records. He's had 44 concussions. He lives very close to me. A stone's throw away, in fact. Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese and there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin.
  3. Rick Astley will let you borrow any movie from his Pixar collection, except one. He's never gonna give you Up. I hate Russian dolls. They're so full of themselves. It’s hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally. I’m not a very competitive person… I’m always the first to say it. My fairy Godmother once asked me if I’d rather have a long penis or a long memory. I forgot what my answer was. My wife and I have a beautiful little girl who we named after my mom. In fact, Passive Aggressive Psycho turns 5 tomorrow. My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance; we’ll see about that.
  4. Rip. Anyone else remember her as Doris in Sabrina the Teenage Witch?
  5. I don't think it's stupid at all. Did you watch the first episode? It's not as good as it used to be, so you should definitely start with S1.
  6. It's not very good without Charlie. Ashton can't act and he doesn't have leading man charisma. Charlie isn't the greatest actor, but he was essentially playing himself, so it somehow worked.
  7. I've never followed her Twitter. Is she usually fun? I've only ever heard negative things about her, but I've reserved judgement for when I have more facts.
  8. Well I'm not a "hater", but could you really blame people for pulling her up on her hypocrisy?
  9. I'm not going to comment on the political side of the argument. I just want to get in my Sheldon-esque complaint. I'm English and I hate change. I seriously cannot do with big changes. If they truly wish to leave, good luck to them. We don't need to tether a country to us that don't wish to be tethered, but damn Scotland. I don't think I'll get used to it just being us and Wales... and possibly NI. Yeah... I'm a Brit and I still forget how that works
  10. Posing for the sake of posing basically means doing it without really wanting to. They just do it for publicity or fame. I don't actually think there's anything wrong with this, but I think it should be something women do because they really wish to. They may come to regret it at a later date. I think looking to random people on TV, in movies or on the radio to basically mentor your kids is very lazy indeed. Parents need to set boundaries. Not random 21 year old women who are not responsibly for the life of someone else. Ariana should not have to act a certain way because some parents can't explain the different between a 21 year old wearing a short skirt and a child wearing a short skirt. Parent your own kids. That's what I'd say if I were a pop star and people criticized me for not being a role model. I'm not a frickin' role model and I'm not responsible for a stranger's child. If you are worried that you can't stop your child from copying people on TV, don't let them watch it. I think plenty of actors know that people like them partly because they're hot, especially men. They've heard of tumblr. They know how it works. Without those people, they wouldn't be nearly as popular. Sure, they want to be known for their talent too. Nicki Is an award winning rapper. I'm sure she's happy with that. Mayim can do what she wishes, but I very much doubt that we'll ever seen her write an article claiming that a male pop star is "sexually available" because he was shirtless In a video/billboard/on stage, etc.
  11. What's wrong with a woman posing just for the sake of posing? Self respect is not always measured on the amount of clothing we wear. If a woman wants to show off her body and if she enjoys men lusting after her, that doesn't mean she doesn't respect herself. Do you mean Nicki Minaj? Her ass is huge. Even when fully clothed it sticks out like a sore thumb. She does dress provocatively, but she seems like quite a confident person. I don't think she does it because she feels she has to. I think she's similar to Rihanna in that regard. She feels hot and she likes looking hot. I completely disagree. I think that people claim singers are role models, but they're not. It's an unfair label to put on a young person who doesn't have kids and it's lazy parenting. That's part of my problem with Mayim's post. She acknowledges that we live in a patriarchal world, but she's complaining that may have to speak to her kids about it because of a billboard. She should want to educate her kids, but instead she's brushing it aside and blaming another woman for possibly making her need to have a conversation with her sons. Lazy. I just want to point out again that I saw Justin Bieber shirtless on a stage not too many days ago. He's not dressing provocatively though, because he's a man. Female cleavage is wrong, but Justin's naked torso is fine. I think that's something Mayim should be annoyed at.
  12. The whole "sexually available" comment was in direct relation to what she was saying about Ariana though. "Ariana dresses provocatively... women are expected to be sexually available". It was all in the same paragraph and it seems clear that she was claiming Ariana looks sexually available to me.
  13. I don't understand then. She is willing to write an article that basically claims that a young woman is "sexually available" because of her outfit, but she wouldn't allow her sons to think that? What's the difference between Mayim proclaiming and believing such a thing, but not her sons, who most likely form a lot of their opinions based on what their mother believes?
  14. It's ok, I get what you're saying. I respectfully disagree though. I think that when some women do it for the money, it's because they have none. If taking off your top means you get to survive another month, I imagine a lot of women would do it. A lot wouldn't do it too and that's fine, but I don't think respect is always a big factor in posing nude. I mentioned the "sexually available" comment earlier because it disgusted me. That's an excuse rapists use and it's still something people say when shaming rape victims. "You shouldn't have worn that outfit because you made yourself look willing ". Ugh, no. I am not "sexually available" because I wear a short skirt. I just can't with that comment... She should be less concerned about her children being exposed to racy billboards and more concerned that she's possibly teaching her sons that women are "sexually available" if they think their outfit is slutty.
  15. Why do you think many of them have no self respect? I don't want you to think I'm attacking you or anything, I'm just genuinely curious. Plenty of actresses like Charlize, Margot Kidder, Drew Barrymore, Raquel Welch and Anna Faris have graced the cover of Playboy. I imagine many women do it because female sexuality is a very powerful thing and it makes them feel good. Others may do it because it makes them feel adventurous. I dunno. There's no difference between doing it for charity and not doing it for charity btw. The woman is still being paid to pose nude. She's just deciding to donate the money afterwards. I bet a lot of women who have posed were not in the position to give away all the money like the actress you mentioned. I did. I've heard her live. Girl can sing.
  16. Ariana isn't displaying herself as just a body though. She has talent and being willing to pose in a sexual manner does not equal a lack of self respect. I believe Charlize Theron once posed for Playboy, but that doesn't mean she doesn't respect herself. It wasn't nice of Mayim to basically claim that this random woman she doesn't even know is "sexually available" because she doesn't like her outfit. I would be pissed off if she said that about me. It's plain rude. I don't appreciate people who basically claim that the amount of skin a woman wants to show is inherently tied to her value and respectability as a human being. If women are "expected to be sexy" why is it our gender that's being criticised? Surely it's men who expect and want it the most? We really get the short end of the stick when it comes to sexuality and it's sad to see a woman attacking another woman for being sexual, yet again. Female internalised sexism is still well and truly prevalent. I can't believe I commented on this 3 times. I didn't realise how annoyed I am
  17. She's criticizing a woman for dressing how she chooses. Of course people are agreeing with her. I see comments like hers all the time, only more volatile. It saddens me to see these comments coming from a woman though. I get that Mayim is a conservative dresser. That's fine, but she shouldn't be criticizing other women for being different. If Ariana wants to dress how she dresses, so what? If I want to wear a short skirt or a revealing top, why does it matter? It's my choice and I don't lay into Mayim for how she dresses. I'm so tired of women being judged and insulted for not covering up 24/7 and for someone who is part of a show that regularly utilizes the main female character's sex appeal, she's oddly selective.
  18. Tbh, I'm just sick of females being dragged for wearing what they want. The other day I saw that Bieber dude strip off on stage, but where are the people lined up to insult him for sexualizing himself? Why is it always girls like Miley and Ariana who are on the receiving end of the criticism and the "sluts" and "whores", but not the guy who has sex with prostitutes? As for the children comment, I'm reminded of Louis CK:
  19. Sex Tape. It was ok. Funny in some places, but it mostly seemed like it was written by teenagers.
  20. I like a decent cliffhanger, but I think writers can sometimes write themselves into a corner, which results in a clunky first episode with a quick resolve.
  21. I saw Lucy last night. Strange film, but oddly entertaining. I have a bit of a girl crush on Scarlet Johannson after seeing it.
  22. Kaley probably looks great in her pictures. She should just stay calm and laugh when the hacker is caught and prosecuted.
  23. I think Penny seems to be a bit scared of committing to Leonard. She was reluctant to tell him she loves him and she was later unsure about the love she felt for him. Rachel and Ross didn't really go through that. I know it's completely normal to have cold feet or a few doubts, but Penny has come across as slightly unsure about her relationship with Leonard too often imo. I hope that she's more confident about their relationship now they're engaged.
  24. I see some similarities, but not enough for me to truly compare them. I actually prefer Ross and Rachel as a couple. They were not together that long, but their relationship seemed quite solid until Rachel met Mark.
  25. I haven't seen most of those shows on TV here in England, but I watched Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie as a kid. As for Sanford and Son, I've seen the British show it's based on, but I've never seen the American version. I think a lot of it is down to parents. I grew up watching a few older comedies like Fawlty Towers because my parents watched them.
