  1. Anyone looking to buy the blu Ray? On -Amazon has ya currently at $320 preorder. Bit to expensive for me at this Stage. But maybe.

Can already watch first 10 seasons on Netflix ( the rest will follow eventually) and still have all of 11-12 on Foxtel IQ4 record so don’t need to spend that kind of much money. I’m already rewatching on Netflix. Old habits die hard. Comfort food for late night boredom. Still laugh and smile.

  2. It is a bit ridiculous. I know I’m a participant, but I’m of the mind that they ALL are living happily ever after!

Never understood the need for the competition myself. As pointless as that relationship test episode. Let the characters live on as we want them to without digging in the heels on who’s better. But that’s me and my happy thoughts!

  3. I can watch all of season six every week, but not the first three or the last few.

Agree 6 was the high point. That’s where I went first when BBT appeared on Netflix. But I am a huge fan of the first 3 seasons. Couldn’t have lasted forever as that style but 1-3 contained a lot of the iconic classic moments of the show

  4. Oz is still officially only at ep19.  The DVR is chugging away, waiting.

Yeah my dubious online ethics matches my lack of patience in waiting to watch. Channel 9 delays in recent years have not helped. That and FTA Australian TV’s over reliance on shoving reality TV shows down our throats 4-5 days a week.

  5. I agree with this. Denise was a very optional extra, and they also did use her at times as a gate to the nerd world for the girls, which I think they could've done more if the show were to continue.

Yeah, while the girls are happy to do cosplay and a bit of D&D, Denise could have been the “voice” of the boys in the girls group, something none of Raj’s harem could add. Imagine redoing the Thor comic scene with Denise involved or the girls arriving at the Doctors Nerd Cave to bring the boys home. A Season 13 with Denise could have been the reverse journey of the boys to Normal Land - the girls heading towards Nerddom.

  6. Lucy's crippling shyness was the death of her.  For a show all about character growth, the writers never took those steps with Lucy.
If they had, she might have been the one for Raj.

By the time Lucy ( and Emily and ultimately Anu) came around I think the 3 girl dynamic had been well and truly established as one of the core relationships in the show.
We had 3 seasons of the boys relationship ( with Penny the counterbalance ) and then 3 seasons developing the girls relationship ( with some occasional Penny/Bernie stuff introduced in Season 3).

Ultimately I just think the writers never wanted to change those two dynamics with a permanent 4th female. Raj’s chances were doomed to fail by the end of season 4 when interestingly another female, Priya, was also driven out of the show, as an outcast of the female triumvirate.

Denise as an extra female was able to happen late because while Stuart increasingly became important through the Howardette connection, he was still the optional extra and Denise didn’t always appear with him ( no show at Halloween while they were still trying to force Anu onto us as a cosplayer. )

  7. Penny was the “socially normal” polar opposite female needed to play off and grow the boy nerds, Amy the “socially awkward” female equivalent of the boys who needed to grow up with the help of Penny (and Bernie) and Bernadette was the part scientist/part normal female that sat between Penny and Amy, while also being the mother replacement/catholic opposite for the Jewish boy.

Emily didn’t have a role to fill as she was another normal girl with the forced defect of gore fetish that just didn’t gel with the characteristics of the others and the hardcore quilting which Penny and Bernie were never going to appreciate so causing a split for Amy.

Lucy’s role as the socially awkward female was already taken by Amy.

Clare went nowhere and was just a plot device to kill off Emily in the show.

Anu was a last ditch but half hearted attempt to save Raj at the end with a stereotypical arranged Indian relationship that had been done before with Lakshmi.

Interestingly, Denise worked for Stuart as the perfect soul mate of 100% comic geek.

  8. I just think Raj was sidekick material from the start. Writers were more comfortable attaching him to the others as comic relief or third banana than trying to give him a long term arc to explore relationships. He didn’t have the determination or drive to pursue a woman like Leonard or Howard. He was too busy living in a fantasy world. Plus the writers could never settle on the quintessential Raj once he could talk. He was destined to remain the odd Seventh Character.

  9. What else is there to do on this forum? There's the Young Sheldon section. TBBT has no new episodes coming, so.....

There’s always reigniting the classic “ never let them die” perennial arguments over Raj sleeping with Penny, should Penny have cared more when Amy whacked Leonard when Sheldon left on the train and should Lenny have moved out earlier. . They never get old

  10.

Hope Aurora isn’t expecting to win a Nobel Prize for Physics when she starts studying Neuroscience! Unless she plans to come up with a random idea outside her field of study as she prepares to walk down the aisle

But kudos to Amy for her speech!

  11. There's a bit of lip service paid to how people are done with enabling him and even Amy doesn't cushion her reactions any more that makes it feel a bit more serious this time around but ugh yeah, I can't deny that this is a bit "been there, done that".
But I guess in the end it's also part of the fanservice laundry list - dig out some of the greatest hits to say good bye.

I’ve said it earlier and many will disagree but I personally felt this Sheldon apology was different and genuine because usually we get the others caving after they’ve been mad and he ends up feeling vindicated by winning and pulls that insincere smirk on his face. This time they might have softened their anger in their own conversations - Lenny in the bathroom and Howardette in the room and on the phone - but they didn’t cave in front of Sheldon and give him that satisfaction. ( it may have happened in the lobby but it was not shown and I’m not aware whether Shamy were meeting them or going separately as the award winners.)

So in my mind he is on the stage internalising what they said and having a “Big Bang” event in his head and realising what an ass he’s been all these years. Saying those words in front of so many strangers in a moment when it could have been all about him made it plausible that the final of this show was what we’d waited for for 12 Seasons of false alarms - Sheldon truly changing.

I understand that many long time Sheldon haters or those who don’t respect the writers don’t accept that. But as Nograv said, I’m a bundle of joy and that’s how I’m taking the ending.

  12. I know it won't be Kurt, Mike, Doug, David, Sheldon, Howard or Stuart! For girls, no Beverly, Leslie, Alex or Alexandra.
Those are the "HELL NO" names. You can probably add Emily to the list. I can't remember Dr Slut Bunny Plimpton's name.  :sungum:

Slutbunny was Elizabeth. Pretty sure Mandy will be off the list too.

  13. After watching the credits, I don't think any of them were supposed to be represented as of when Sheldon was listening, except possibly Leonard who was listening to the same broadcast.  The credits listed the different young characters at different ages (for example, it says 11 year old Amy, who is not older than Leonard or Sheldon) and four year old Penny isn't young enough (although her snoring was a nice touch).

OK. Didn’t check the credits thank you Grand Master of the Tiniest Detail!

  14. I think they pushed Sheldon's bad behavior more than necessary, (it's difficult here, as we've seen something close to that kind of  behavior from him, even in this season, but it did seem a bit over the top), but the payoff in his speech was nice. I did think the too much change for Sheldon was overdone, as it had been done in 7-24.

Yeah that was the only time during the finale I thought “really not that again” and was worried a train trip escape was gonna appear again. But since some of us Lennies thought 7.24 could have been the ending the show could have had and the start of Season 8 was pointless since Sheldon didn’t change at all from the experience , it’s like the Writers thought they’d try that again and get it right this time.

This time Peter Pan/Pinocchio finally grew up and became a real boy. But this time everyone else was running away from him and that finally hit the nerve that snapped Sheldon out of his self-centred universe. THAT was the BIG BANG that for 12 years everyone avoided. For 12 years he’d sook and everyone would jump so he didn’t have to change. Sure Lenny and Howardette changed their minds and stayed for the Nobel ceremony but it wasn’t because Baby Sheldon cried and they caved. So he didn’t get the chance to give that condescending “I won” smirk. He was left to reflect on his behaviour and consequences alone and BANG!!! He finally got it and the speech said it all. I loved it.

And I personally thought the symmetry of Young Sheldon sitting there crying alone with no friends and no Hope as we segued in Young BBT ( obviously not chronological as Penny wouldn’t have even been born or a baby at best) matched beautifully with Sheldon’s speech about the greatest friends in the world changing his life for the better.

  15. The rants I'm thinking about were more last year, I think, when you were in a bad head space and we had a little clash. It's a bit tongue in cheek, nothing negative. I enjoy your positive attitude.

Yeah I’m 99% Easy going and 1% pit bull. I think my first post here way back was a short good natured but spirited joust with Lionne that ended fine. Can’t say I recall our clash. I hope it ended well. I generally avoid offending. That’s my Leonard side - but my Sheldon side occasionally breaks through.
