  1. Agree...if not then the show has become a daytime soap opera.   It already is bordering on that with the finale....but if they keep up that kind of turmoil and strife for more than that many episodes...it no longer belongs in comedy genre.   Bottom line Shamy's thing is a communication issue and they are good at communicating.   They just need to hash it out.   My bet, end of second episode it is resolved.   It gives them long enough to have a bit of interaction with other characters to help them through it and for Sheldon to figure things out, but not drag it out to be weighting down the entire season.

That's very true. My initial thought was episode 2 or 3. Just with some of Molaro's comments, I wasn't as sure. It's good to remember this is a comedy though, and as such, it should be resolved quickly.

  2. The question of whether or not she says yes is an even more intense cliffhanger.

It's impossible to know at this point, and I could see it going either way--either a rewrite from when we saw Bill's script page, or a secret tag scene.

I think that a sudden proposal after her telling him she needed to step back and think might only exacerbate the situation, giving her even more things to think about.

ETA: What was the tag scene as seen in the taping?  I mean, was it the skype conversation?

I wonder if the show will break the internet tonight...

The tag was the Skype scene, ending with him closing the laptop and asking Gollum what he's going to do with this ring, and pulling it out of the drawer.  What I'm thinking is IF (big IF) there is a secret scene, THAT would be the real tag, and they would have just told us this scene was it.

  3. It really depends on how he would approach Amy if they did a secret proposal scene, whether or not that would mean a longer break for them.  She did use the word "exhausting" but the way she spoke was implying that it was exhausting not knowing if he would ever come around, etc.  So if he proves to her that he HAS, in fact, come around (and if he goes there right away, it would be clear enough he didn't go out and buy a ring after their Skype chat, but already had it) and tells her what is truly in his heart, it may end up being just fine.  It really just depends...

If I am wrong.. I am so sorry haha

It's all good, Kazzie.  There is a very good chance there won't be a secret scene at all.  But this is the fun part of fandom--getting all crazy and excited contemplating the possibilities.  :)

  4. OK guys.. throwing this out there..

I have a weird suspicion that there is a secret scene... THIS IS SPECULATION.. But lets look at some facts...

    - Bill's Script tweet... It ended with "cket" But that doesn't actually match up with what actually happened.. He didn't pull the ring from his pocket nor did he put it back... I know they rewrite stuff.. But ALSO consider.. The script ended with "fadeout".. We were screaming during the ring scene.. and it just cut. It wasn't re shot in silence or anything... Which leads me to think its possible something else happened after that... It would be a weird way to end...

    - That thing that posts about season finale.. How many engagements, breakups etc etc.. I forgot the actual name of it.. but that listed some Engagements

    - CBS's IG.. Go take a look...

"Don't miss the #BigBangTheory #SeasonFinale tonight 8/7c... Because this emoji art will all make sense once you watch! Can you crack the code?"

    https://instagram.com/p/2ZKhvONz5i/?taken-by=bigbangtheory_cbs

They have done this before.. Season 2 finale Penny - "It means I wish you weren't going". So I believe its completely possible....

Im thinking that he proposes tonight.. he's going to go to her apartment, Pull the ring out of his pocket.. And Amy just looks and doesn't respond.. And that will be the true cliffhanger.. That kind of scene wouldn't have an audience reaction and would fit perfectly to the fadeout..

    We will see.

If we look at this logically, they've already shown us the ring.  So why wait until next season for him to propose?  The shock value is in this episode.  And if they really want to give the fandom a heart attack, they'll have him get down on one knee before it fades out.  I'm not going to get my hopes up too high, but it does make sense, especially since they know how much we like spoilers.  In this case, they could be playing us at our own game.  In just a short time, we'll know.

  6. I think he is scared of being with her AND being without her. A woman he finds amazing has entered his life and has captured his soul--has made him feel things he never has before. It is frightening. But he wants it and he wants her. And it scares him. Dr. Cooper, my friends is head over heels...

  7. I wonder if they'd try to have Sheldon trying to play it cool, since his pride is such a hindrance to him being able to be honest.  Maybe for the first episode he tries to pretend that it doesn't bother him.

I've always wanted to see Sheldon go a little nuts.  Since we've already had the clowder of cats reaction, I wonder if he would either maybe start to neglect his appearance, getting all wrinkled and scruffy, forgetting his pajama rotation, maybe forgetting to shave...(stubble!), or if would go the other direction and get super-hyper strict about everything in his life, trying to focus on something other than the fact that Amy wants to step back from him.

Oh, and one other thing--I REALLY hope they do NOT go the route of double wedding.  I can't see that Amy/Sheldon would want the same kind of wedding that Leonard/Penny would want.

I've been envisioning a very stubbly, messy haired, wrinkle-clothed Sheldon ever since seeing the taping, IF they decide to make it a few days or more.

And I agree on the double wedding.  I REALLY don't want that.  I think both couples deserve their own special days.

  8. Yes.  Beginning of season 9, Sheldon is going to tell her he desires her physically.  This kiss and the ring are our proof.

Oh no...in slow motion with the eybrows, leaning in and the thumb....HE WANTED MORE!!!  And we know he tries for MORE....The stupid Flash was a cover!!!!  HOT DAMN!!!  This is our LIME Kiss MOMENT!!!

I really do need a moment...

  9. I've been having a lot of fun reading everyone's theories for season 9.  :)  I have so many scenarios playing in my head (some of which closely match a few posted here) that I just can't decide which one I think is most probable.  I really don't think the Shamy drama will go past episode 3.  If you look at all the past seasons, the cliffhangers have always been resolved by episode 2 or 3.  I also don't think the writers will want the general audience to be worried that the two might not "get back together" by dragging it out too long, because then they risk angry viewers who might act on emotion and stop watching.  Also, since as of right now there are only 2 more confirmed seasons, they'll need to get the ball rolling again fairly quickly if Shamy is going to get married and also tackle the milestone of coitus.

I really see season 9 opening the next day after the finale, or right around that time frame.  One, because I agree that Lenny probably won't get married in Vegas, but two, because I really can't see Sheldon being able to stand being away from Amy for weeks or months.  He's going to want to fix whatever it is and get answers as quickly as possible.  Lenny might play a role in that, as some have said, offering a bit of guidance, but I do think that ultimately Shamy will fix this in their own unique way.  I can actually see the possibility of them getting engaged at the beginning of the season since we already know he has the ring, and that would be concrete evidence he could give to Amy to show her how serious he really is.  I do understand the desire to drag out that plotline a bit though, and I think it would be fun (and potentially humorous) to see him work at winning her back.  Whatever the case, I think the writers will throw the proposal at us when we're least expecting it.

  10. So, not to belabor the point, but, did the second take start with the very end of the kiss or did it start with the dialogue? I wonder why they broke up the scene that way...

It started with the dialogue.  Like maybe they just felt like one take for the kiss was enough.  Even though we obviously wanted more.  ;)

  11. Ok, I gotta admit, this is making me nervous. Michy (or someone else who was at the taping), can you explain how this scene was filmed?

I feel like I'm suspending logic completely by letting this worry me, but knowing that there was some lovin' coming has seriously been getting me through these last couple weeks of my credential program and I will NOT be a happy camper if that scene is cut.

    Ok...calming down now.

Like kerry said already, it would really make no sense for them to cut out the kiss.  What Michy was referring to was, they filmed the whole scene, starting with the kiss, and then when they did the second take, they started it just after the kiss had been broken.  They're not going to start the episode without showing the kiss at all though, since it was shown in the promo on tv, and also because I really don't think they would do that to us.  So my guess is, they're going to use the take we all got to see at the taping.  The only other option would be that they refilmed it afterwards, but I don't see why they would.  In any case, we'll be getting a kiss, and I'm pretty sure they'll use the footage we saw.

    Thursday cannot come fast enough!

  12. So, just before the scene started, they were sitting, facing each other--did the cameras begin to roll before they started to kiss (like, was the lean-in part of the scene) or were they kissing when the cameras started (ACTION! indeed!!), as in, the scene opens on them already kissing.

My English teachers always talked about the "in medias res" ("in the midst of things") technique of storytelling...

Someone else who was there can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the scene opens with them already mid-makeout.

  13. I do hope they didn't reshoot the kiss scene after what we saw. They only did it once and then did the promo shots. It's very possible though that what was used for the promo was from that so they wouldn't show us the good stuff yet. Also, since what they showed was the end of the kiss, it's difficult to say what the rest of it looked like. Knowing they were about to end it, they could have been preparing for that and stilled their mouths more.

BTW -- Can I just say that it amuses me how we're analyzing this kiss so closely, up to the movements of their lips? LOL... No matter what though, it was a very NICE kiss.

  14. I am assuming Mary knows ShAmy are the real deal now, even though it hasn't even been hinted on screen. Amy had to get Meemaw's cookie recipe from somewhere. Mary must be so proud that her Shelly has found a good woman who gets him, can put up with him, and makes him happy.

I am so happy Howard and Raj experimented with the matchmaking website and forced Sheldon's hand. ShAmy is evidence that there is someone out there for everyone, even if no one else gets it, including the individuals being matched.

Who knew an experiment (5) years ago between two broken people would turn in the fandom that it is now?

I can see Mary growing to adore Amy very much, especially knowing how "special" her gifted-Sheldon is. I hope with The McCarthy's cancelled, we will get to see more of Mary around.

I got to thinking about the possibility that Sheldon might turn to his Mom at the beginning of S9 to help him through this set-back with Amy. That would be sweet for him to turn to the woman he has looked up to growing up to assist him in making amends with the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

One scenerio could be that Amy has gone to visit Mary, perhaps to talk to her, and Sheldon shows up to find she is there and they spend some make up time in Sheldon's childhood home....

    My imagination runs wild....

Ha ha!  I've considered the idea of Mary stepping in too, and if they did it right, it could be cute and sweet.  However, I think that overall, I might prefer it if Sheldon and Amy were to figure this out on their own.  For Sheldon to go to her of his own accord and tell her how he truly feels would be really poignant and show how much he's grown.  But I would like to see Mary interacting with Amy while she plans the wedding, etc.  Or maybe Sheldon, once he's fixed things with Amy, can tell his mom how he's planning to propose.  That would be a really sweet moment, I think.

  15. Just a question about the Shamy kiss for those who attended the finale taping: I'm not expecting a tonsil hockey, but it looks to me they still have their mouths closed. Is it or isn't it a closed mouth kiss? I think that kiss has to be closed mouth because of my homegirl Mayim's Orthodox background or something related to that? I was kinda expecting a little lip nibbling.

This is a hard one to answer, because none of us looked at the screens while they were kissing, which would have shown us their mouths closer up.  We were too glued to the set.  We've been debating it, but at the very least, there WAS mouth movement, which did make it look like it was a deeper kiss.  If anyone else has more clarification, I'm sure they'll share, but I can't be totally certain.

  16. You're right! They just kept going. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up that it will be super long and then they cut it down to 3 seconds, haha. But they definitely kissed for awhile, and I don't think it was just because the audience was screaming too long.

No, I for sure think that it was because that was how long they meant for it to be.  Hopefully they won't cut any of it down.  I think with having to wait ALL season for a kiss, paired with the fact that we have this emotional ending/cliffhanger for them which we have to wait for FOUR months to see resolved, they will be nice to us and leave in the whole thing.  Fingers crossed!
