    You're funny.

Yes!!!! Them working on a float for the university would be funny.

Yeah, maybe! But just think, every piece on the floats have to be covered in flowers. That, my friend. is a very long and hard venture to endure. They do this every year and the floats are always amazing and beautiful!!

Apparently you think it's fine that Amy tried to record pictures of Penny while she was changing. People go to jail for doing that crap. Either make her eat that camera or send her ass to jail and ruin her career. That may be mean and over the top, but she needs to learn that there are boundries.

I think my bold remarks was a bit mean and cruel. Even though we didn't see it in the episode, knowing Penny and her active imagination, she probably impressed upon Amy of the error of her ways and informed her of the consequences of any repeated acts in the future. That's my opinion by reading between the lines.

...as you know @chucky , The Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl College Football Game ("the granddaddy of them all") both take place in beautiful Pasadena, California, the home of the Hostadters, the Rostenkowski-Wolowitzs, Dr R Koothrapalli, Dr Cooper and Dr Fowler. It has been years and years since I've watched the parade, but I think it may pass by the CalTech campus. I always thought there should have been at least a mention of these events on the show, as they are huge in the community.

I most definitely know this to be true.I attended the Rose Bowl game, I believe January 2010 when Alabama defeated Texas for the National Championship.A great time was had at both the parade and game!

Chucky, there was no need for the sarcasm.   Not everyone knows the Sugar Bowl is in New Orleans.   We have international members, and some who have no interest and may not know.  The point of that answer was simply to refute the claim that there were no College Football games on tonight, during the broadcast of TBBT, as there was, The Sugar Bowl, in New Orleans.

Hey, can't a guy have a little fun? I mean the Sugar Bowl has only been played in New Orleans for more than 40 years. Just in case some of us don't know, New Orleans is located in Louisiana. For our international folks, The Sugar Bowl is a major College football game played each year on or around New Years Day. Last night my team "Alabama" beat Clemson 24 to 6 for a chance to play the University of Georgia for the National Championship. Georgia beat the University of Oklahoma 54 to 48 in another New Years Day game, The Rose Bowl.. I know probably too much information, but who cares.

Leonard and Penny are the best-matched couple because they were designed as the lead romantic couple from the start. Far from their differences being a weakness, it's what they need. Both are types who need a complementary partner. Penny is a quick-reacting extrovert who needs a more thoughtful introvert type like Leonard for balance in her life, while Leonard needs bringing out both literally and metaphorically. As for common interests, there's plenty they could do together but don't. Why has L never taken P to the theatre? (I assume there's one in greater LA). And can any intelligent person be indifferent to the scenery a short drive away. And they've apparently never even been to SF together. Etc Etc.

The most important thing they have in common is character: both are basically good, kind people. They're the "best" characters in the show - again, they were designed that way. Sometimes they're a bit too similar in that respect: Penny's soft-heartedness verges on soft-headedness where Amy is concerned, and Leonard isn't hard-headed enough to warn Penny that Amy is not her friend and should be kept at arm's length and never trusted.

I completely concur with your analysis.

Exactly. So, why so upset about what Amy did? Honest question: it was clearly written as a joke. How would your interpretation that Penny was actually sexually harassed or assaulted in that case fit into a situational comedy?

Let me explain this one more time. It has nothing to do with being sexually harassed or assaulted. I was talking about her inability to be a good friend, as others claimed she was. A good friend wouldn't have tried to take pictures of her undressed. Especially after being told to put the camera away. I wasn't thinking about criminal, just the lousey friend she was.

Seemed to me L & H just brought the topic up. P & B let themselves be guided by their conscience which did the rest..

Nope! They just explained the reason for Shelly being so tired. He stayed up all night with an upset Amy. Then explained why Amy was so upset. Bernadette decided by herself the second time they went to apologize to an upset Amy Farrah Fowler.

The MofH thing showed several characters in a bad light. Amy is of course horrible. But for some reason Penny and Bernadette put up with her and can't tell her that she is not their friend. They both seem strangely paralysed in that respect, like 2 rabbits with a snake. But the way A became MofH was bizarre. A whined to Sheldon that the 2 women whose friend she demanded to be went dress-shopping without her. So Sheldon, finding this a nuisance, demanded that Leonard and Howard should "get your women into line". And L & H implicitly agreed that they could and should make P & B do something they didn't want to for Sheldon's comfort. Ridiculous enough, but even more ridiculous P & B did what they were told. I'd overlooked this as an example of Bad Things Leonard has done until now.

I don't think they were made to do anything. Leonard and Penny weren't together then. They were just friends. Howard and Leonard just told Penny and Bernadette that Amy was upset because they went dress shopping without her. They then said they would talk to her.

I have no interest in American college football but also hope everyone had a safe New Year's Eve.

I was a young man in the 1980's. In 2018 I feel like I am living in the future.  From core memory to flash memory the developments have been amazing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic-core_memory#Physical_characteristics

To each their own. There will be millions of tvs on watching both football and parades.

Is that what's going to be on US telly instead of BBT ?

It's an American tradition of college football games on New Year's Day. BBT will be on as well.

They could have told her and not exclude her behind her back. I had a "friend" who thought all these horrible things about me, that I thought I know best and that others' contribution to papers were worthless and that I didn't consider anything others have said (even though I specifically told her I wasn't typing immediately because I thought how to synthesize the things being said and asked for everyones' approval on every sentence). It's easy to make these accusations towards the girl who gets great grades but I think even some of you here can tell that none of this is true, I do not think my views are somehow better than others' and it is actually important to me to respect other people's views. I had the feeling she was feeling bad things about me and gave her many chances to say it. One evening I found a picture on social media of her and 3 others hanging out, a group I considered myself part of. I wasn't even invited. I don't think I even need to describe how it felt (she used to tell these things to other classmates who didn't know me very well or didn't get the chance because she did it early on). I would much rather have her say all these things to my face.

I can see why they didn't tell Amy about the dress shopping that one time. Amy was a major weird person at that time and wouldn't tone it down. But Amy really over reacted.

Yeah, only some scenes just aren't funny. But, unlike what you claimed, they aren't criminal offences either, like I have already explained.

Who cares? What you think is funny and criminal is different than me. It's just a show, in real life tragic it would be.

After reading the last few posts, I'm a bit confused. Did I misunderstand a whole season of TBBT ? Don't women take friends into fitting rooms with them any more ? Do people never video the preparations for weddings ? I assumed from what I saw Amy doing that it was all a maid of honor's job. Was I wrong and if so why did nobody say Amy was going over the top ? We don't have such a post at weddings over here : a maid of honour is a lady who works for The Queen.  Brides tend to do all their side of the organising  themselves without a MoH. (For reasons nobody seemed to explain, at Prince William's wedding the bride's sister, who looked as though she was being  chief bridesmaid, was announced as Maid of Honour' which just confused us.)

There's a big difference between having another woman in the dressing room and the other woman trying to take pictures or videos of one of the women changing clothes. Besides I think Penny and Bernadette were a little bit leary of Amy back then.

No, I never said that you should date yourself.
But having a few things in common is important, and that's what all couples have except Lenny.

Pray tell me what Howard and Bernadette had in common except over bearing mothers and Raj being in love with both of them?

I guess I'm not an "Amyac" but I do not share ypur feelings towards Amy. She did get Penny to express her feelings about Priya and then Alex. Penny usually represses her feelings, she burries them deep inside and the result is oftem confusion about them and about her wishes and sometimes actions she regrets. While Amy's reactions to these confession weren't great she did have her admit these feelings and talk about them. There are probably some other examples of her helping Penny, like the charity idea. I wouldn't say she is "friend of the year" but she is not that awful, especially now that she is far more socialized and sociable. Penny is no saint either, she definitely helped Amy a lot but she did say this and that about her.

I'm sorry, the only person Amy has shown any interest in helping is Shelly-boy. From what I've seen, she has tried to take advantage of any sad situation Penny or Bernadette was in. Lets see putting electrodes on Penny's head when she was crying over Leonard's relationship with Pryia, pitting Bernadette against Penny over that new job , we already discussed the picture taking attempts and then there was her tricking her to take tests to compete against monkeys.$5.00 for the experiment Then offering  That sounds like a lousey friend if you ask me. Don't get me started with Shelly games he plays on the guys or the way he disses them.

Going by your logic, every character on the show (sitcom, by the way) should have been beaten up at least once. Penny included. I don't see your point here.

And who else should have been a maid of honor? Penny? She told Howard that he should just go along with everything and marry Bernadette because no other woman would ever want him (when he was upset over Bernadette wanting a prenup) and, multiple times, basically expressed her disbelief how Bernadette wanted to actually marry someone like Howard. Sounds like a great choice, I guess.

Plus, Penny could only beat up someone way weaker than her, as evident in season two episode when she actually got into a fight with another woman.

Penny has been mean to them too, multiple times. You get what you give.

Apparently you think it's fine that Amy tried to record pictures of Penny while she was changing. People go to jail for doing that crap. Well, I'm surprised. You are obviously not an Amyac, but here you seem to be taking Amy's claims of friendship for Penny at face value. I can't think of a single occasion when she has genuinely helped Penny. Her behaviour when Penny was distressed about Leonard and Priya was typical. Amy saw this as an opportunity to be the bully she never got a chance to be at school (due to not having anyone to gang up with). She tried to coerce Penny & Bernadette into joining her infantile ganging up on Priya. Actually I suppose A was somewhat put in her place at the end of that storyline when Penny and Priya bonded in a grown-up way and Amy was left fuming. Another time Penny needed help and didn't get it from Amy was after her night with Raj. Amy had the gross impertinence to call P a skank. (It is a weakness of Penny's character that she puts up with this instead of kicking Amy out of her apartment). A friend would have pointed out that as Penny was too drunk to give or withold consent it was rape.

Bernadette and Sheldon have both genuinely helped Penny. But when do you consider Amy ever helped Penny?

You can say Shelly helped Penny a time or two, but mostly he has been demeaning and down right insulting to her. Some would argue that he doesn't understand what he did. I think he did it on purpose and to be mean.

At the end of Isolation Permutation, they planned for Amy being Maid of Honour.

They didn't plan it they just basically gave up and named her MofH. Basically because Amy was being a stupid pain in the rear as she always is being. Penny should have beaten the crap out of her for trying to go in the changing room with her and then try to record her while she was changing.
