I could forgive it contradicting Season 1, but when the joke contradicts the current Season 9 premiere episode that includes of all things Lenny's wedding, and was so gut wrenching, that even the Shamy reconciliation and coitus haven't healed those wounds, yet the writers want to contradict and joke about the one line that started it all.  Not to mention that the episode has been replayed at least twice during the holiday hiatuses, and we are just over halfway through the season.  So, so sloppy.

Inconsistencies in shows are one of my biggest pet peeves lol... it bugged me so much that Phoebe on Friends had 2 different birthdays (and actually I think this happened with Ross too). I've been watching reruns of TBBT on tbs and just yesterday I was watching The Dumpling Paradox from S1, and there was a HUGE mistake made with Raj being able to talk in front of Penny... Penny comes in to 4a to complain about her whorish friend staying with her, and when Howard runs off to 4b to meet said whorish friend, Leonard mentions that they either have to play Halo one-on-one or cut Raj in half. Raj then says (with Penny right there in the room involved in the same conversation) something like "oh sure cut the foreign guy in half, there are a billion more of us". And then later when Penny decides she's done playing she says goodnight to Leonard and says to Raj "as always, nice talking to you Raj!" mocking that he doesn't talk in front of women... I mean I know it was season 1 but SERIOUSLY???

No! There is no gaze except that of the heterosexual man! None! There have been a few regrettable lapses over the years wherein the menfolk have been observed sans trousers, and sometimes sans shirt, but there is only one body to be worshipped: that of the beautiful California blonde whose only other defining characteristic is a lack of knowledge of nerd culture. It all went to shit once we started letting Penny hang out with Sheldon, and sex was off the table. The writers took it into their heads to allow Penny to be funny, and to sometimes- the horror- look unkempt and unsexy. And then people began to realise Penny had loads of value on the show other than as a lust/romantic object for Leonard and Howard and Raj! And then the writers slipped their leash even more and brought on other girls for Penny to hang out with! I mean, even that might have been okay if all they ever did was giggle and have pillow-fights with each other in skimpy lace teddies, but they talked about stuff like the Hubble telescope and Thor's hammer and whether werewolves can swim! Can you imagine?!?

No, we're going back to the good old days when the girls were only ever there to be drooled over and to not understand the menfolk. As is right and proper.

ok brilliant post is brilliant. I need you in my corner for any fight I ever have with anyone ever...

I just CAN'T see DPM anymore without associating it with 'Dave Prompted Makeout'! LOL! That was just hilarious! Forgot who came up with it, so whoever it was: I love you for making me laugh so hard - I nearly fell off my chair!

yep, that was my idiot mistake! :icon_redface:

Is it "Amy's my heart worm, I love her so much and I gotta have her now" or "Amy is my heart worm and my life is miserable without her so I have to do something or make some gesture to make her stay"?

I very much believe it was a blend of the former and the thinking that "I want to make a gesture that indicates to Amy that I am indeed letting my emotional walls crumble and that I want her to know that I'm committed to allowing myself to give into my love for her -- and it starts with me showing her how intimate I want to be."

As for the coitus thing, I don't want to repeat my old, boring opinions again. I just find it strange that he wasn't ready for all those years and suddenly became ready right after their reconciliation.

I think it was realizing Amy was his heart worm.

My perspective on this is that he had been having desires prior to 8.24, which I think went hand in hand with his plan to propose at some point, but he had been holding back because he's Sheldon and he refused to give in to his feelings... but the minute he realized she's his heartworm in 9.10, he took down the walls he built and gave into all the passion he had for her. And part of that passion was expressing his love to her on an intimate level - which is part of the reason why I think it happened so immediately after the reconciliation, aside from the fact that I think he wanted to make Amy's birthday even more special with a huge milestone for them. And I think before it actually happened he may not have necessarily had particular urges or expectations, but after it happened he realized what all the fuss is about... and I think we're going to start seeing his newfound urges start to reveal themselves in future episodes ;)

I'd probably end up laughing hysterically if they just come back from some hiatus with the two of them wearing wedding bands because they got the paperwork done in a courthouse off-screen and that was it. No big fuss, no nothing - just be done with it! I know this would be the worst case scenario for many - this thread alone would probably implode! But I always end up laughing at horrible things (sometimes to the point of inappropriateness) so yeah... *dodges tomatoes*

if they did a spontaneous "let's just get married" wedding for Shamy they could do it in 10.2 and fulfill Amy's "prediction" (which I know everyone thinks is a throwaway line but I'm still sticking to the hope that it comes true -- although I don't want it to happen this way)

They better not make it all about Sheldon's birthday or some people will really flip their shit - I might even join them depending on the execution. But yeah, they don't really do much birthday stuff on this show (with the weird side-effect of people not knowing each other's b-day lol what even) so we'll have to wait and see. I wouldn't mind a little gag about Amy getting Sheldon something special for his birthday though.

if they end up using Sheldon's birthday as a storyline I hope they have Sheldon hoping for the same present he got Amy for her birthday ;)

This isn't about traditionalism or anything, but is anyone else really hoping it's not Amy who proposes? It was cute with Lenny and all, especially cuz Leonard was still able to sweep Penny off her feet with the ring. But I just always envisioned it as Sheldon proposing. And I just really hope Amy doesn't push this in any way. My ideal situation would be for her to not even bring it up and just allow Sheldon to do it when he thinks the time is perfect.

I reeeeeally hope Amy isn't the one to propose because like people have been saying, I really don't want Amy to seem like she's pushing their relationship again -- especially since she knows about the ring! I want to see Sheldon propose because it would show that Sheldon's timeline for their relationship is syncing up with Amy's hopes for the relationship, and I love when we get to see a vulnerable side of Sheldon -- where love is the driving force of his actions and not logic <3

(and oh dear god if the writers pull some drama storyline out of their asses and Amy says no for some reason, so help me...)

Am I the only one who categorizes Shamy pics now as either pre/post coitus? Its weird, but I think I wasn't ready, everything has more weight now for no real reason!

and not from pics but in their behavior, they're both bubblier and Amy in particular has been flirtier - batting her eyelashes and seeming a little more blushy... and Sheldon seems more confident and perky (when he's not sick lol). this could just be 99% the biased shipper in me seeing this of course...

  10. I'm so happy to see Shamy doing FwF again!! Even with them both looking annoyed with Raj and Kripke they're both so cute -- and they're in it together! I know this thread has been kind of bummed out as of late (and to be perfectly honest I really don't understand why! we've been given so much Shamy goodness! so I blame the hiatus!), so it's awesome that we have these next two episodes showing Shamy "on the same page" -- one of our big wishes we kept bringing up when we were discussing what we wanted to see in Shamy 2.0! I really look forward to them clinking mug and glass at the end with Sheldon saying he wanted to do it again :) I'm hoping and thinking it won't be the only thing we will get to see them "do again"! Bring on Meemaw and FwF! (and of course the next taping report!)

I think they dropped it abruptly because a lot of people were getting tired of it and wondering why she was even with Sheldon if she had such a huge "crush" on Penny.  Like they said at the polyfest thing, "it got wildly out of hand" and when something gets out of hand like that, the best way to deal with it is to just stop doing it all together.  Which is what they did.

  12. Since a lot of you don't read the S9 Discussion Thread (and I don't blame you), I wanted to post here what I posted there regarding concerned speculations about the upcoming episode:

With the Meemaw/Amy conversation bringing up so much concern among this thread - especially regarding Amy's responses "I'm his best shot" and "You don't know what I put up with" (or whatever they actually are, lol) - I think back to when Bernadette met Howard's mom... I wonder what kind of tough exterior she had to wear to convince Mrs. Wolowitz that she was the one for Howard despite being a strong-willed Catholic girl who like Amy and Sheldon had also broken up with Howard earlier on - regardless of the reason being different from Amy's, a breakup happened, and Amy's reason for a break (that turned into a breakup) was no less justified. Bernadette had to face an over-protective mother-in-law and explain how she was essentially taking her pride and joy away from her forever. I can easily see Bernadette and Mrs. Wolowitz having had a similar conversation to Amy and Meemaw's, and seeing how Howardette turned out makes me optimistic for Shamy.

And I know that we never actually got to see Bernadette and Mrs. Wolowitz meet, and in the aftermath we learned that their meeting went extremely well, but I have to assume that with the personality they painted Mrs. Wolowitz, her meeting with Bernadette might not have been perfect off the bat. I really can imagine them bonding over "you don't know what I put up with with him" similarly to how Amy and Meemaw begin to connect.

That's my thought process going into the episode, but I don't really have too many expectations otherwise. I look forward to seeing how Sheldon stands by his Amy and how things end on a happy note.

  13. I first wanna just put out there that every episode this season has played out better than I expected from the taping report, so while I may have a few reservations myself, I am giving the writers the benefit of the doubt this time and not allowing my pre-episode nitpicking cloud my enjoyment of what I will see on screen. :)

I totally love that moment, even though they were broken up!

I thought I was the only one!

actually Separation Oscillation is one of my fav shamy episodes ever, I know many people hated how he wouldn't leave her alone, but I liked it cause for the first time he was obsessing over her and not Amy over him!

if for no other reason, then this one:

Oh I like this game! There's too many, but off the top of my head:

    The Closure Alternative

The whole scene, but especially when they are fighting over the musical box with the clown (what's that called?)

    "That's enough. Sheldon give it!"

    The Raiders Minimization

"Story problem? Oh.. Amy. What a dewy-eyed moon-calf you are" I love Sheldon's laugh in this scene! Also:

"Let me close that for ya"

    The Hesitation Ramification

"Well, that makes sense. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for planning and anticipation, and patients with brain lesions on their-"

    "BRAIN LESIONS!"

    The Relationship Diremption

"Yeah, it's cute, that's the problem. I don't need other girls to see him walking around like sex on a stick"

    "She's right, I'm too hot"

And of course, I love pretty much every FWF, but my absolutely favorite moments are:

    "Stop looking at my legs!"

    "I PRESSED IT!"

"Guten Tag das Youtube. Ich bin ein Bavarian"

    "Und ich bin eine Pretzel"

Omg you picked all my favorite ones! I swear I almost peed when he did "BRAIN LESIONS" :mosking: and in that same episode where he drops his pants interrupting Amy talking and she just pauses and giggles "okay that's pretty good!" and he swirls around and scurries off.

i also love when Amy does experiments with him like the anxiety test with the balloon and when he pops it she says "why'd you pop it?" and he replies "I'm sorry I was aiming for your heart..." (and by the way how the hell did Mayim get through that scene?? that squeaking balloon noise makes me wanna die!!!) Angry Sheldon is very much like Angry Amy and it's adorable!

    - "WE BOTH KNOW THAT'S YOUR KOALA FACE!"

    - drunk dancing

    - "hey cuddles"

    -  every time they skype

    - when they give away Sheldon's cats with $20

ok there are way too many... but nothing will ever beat how it all started:

Thank you nickelette.   This is the reason I've been so paranoid about where Shamy is headed and why my brain has been so full of what-if scenarios that will break them apart.    Look at the way Roseanne ended.   I loved Darlene and David, and that was ruined by a dream.   That is just another example besides HIMYM.    I loved NCIS' Tony and Ziva, and though the show isn't ending, Ziva is gone and Tony is leaving at the end of S13.    I loved BH90210 Donna and David.   They got married in the end, but then we find out in the show's reboot that they got divorced.   Ross and Rachel ended up together in the end, but all their relationships with other people in between their reconciliation kind of ruined them for me.

I just want one couple that I love to end up happy and together forever, and I want that to be Shamy.    I become afraid to believe and worry about all the things that could go wrong.    I was okay, but then they threw the break up in there, dating other people, etc. and I don't think I'm over it, yet.

I hope all the couples on the show make it.   Since we are on the DT, I will go ahead and say that I want Penny to find her happiness with and because of Leonard.   Regarding the Shenny speculations, it is the writer's fault that it even exists.    They keep throwing discord between Leonard and Penny.   Sheldon and Penny confide in each other more than their own partners.    The dreams/daydreams of Penny stripping before Sheldon in the laundry room/the Shenny kiss.    Sheldon and Penny both making fun of her marriage to Leonard by making jokes about it's questionable longevity.   Penny knows things about Sheldon that Amy doesn't.  Amy is still rolling her eyes at Sheldon, and some wonder if she will get tired of him again.

While I don't agree at all, I can understand how others can see that something might be there and want to discuss it.  To some it's not a new bridge to be built, but one that has been building behind the scenes.   I think the reason it has gotten worse is because Sheldon is sexualized now.

Again, I do not agree.  I am Shamy all the way.   I'm just saying that I get why Shenny shippers exist.   I may not be on their side, but I understand their position.

I also do not believe Emily and Sheldon will have a fling.   I was the one that started that, but it is because I was frustrated that Sheldon went to such great lengths to make amends with her, when I've seen him blow Amy off so many times when he has hurt her.    I am over it now, as he only did what he did because he was following Amy's advice, and that further goes to show how important she is to him.

I am 100% pro-Shamy, but I cause confusion because I express concerns about my ship, Sheldon's behavior, etc.   I don't believe these things negate my 1,000 plus positive feelings about Shamy.    I become paranoid and at times and want to discuss such things.  Other times I just want to relate to what other posters are discussing.    It doesn't mean I agree, only that I understand where they are coming from.

This post is gonna be kinda rambly and boring so feel free to just skip it lol... I just felt like throwing in my 2 cents as a former shipper of a crashed, capsized, and very sunken ship -- Liz & Jack on 30 Rock. I can relate to how Shenny shippers take any crumb of teasing by the writers (which they love to do, the jerks! lol) and embellish those scenes/lines into an alternate reality where their relationship is better than canon. The writers like to tease the audience with expanded imaginary storylines (fanfiction fuel!) just to make their story bigger. We Jack/Liz (they never had a ship name) shippers HATED Avery (played by Elizabeth Banks... she played this role SO well!) because she could never compare to how well Liz knew Jack or how close they were, etc. etc... and TPTB (Tina Fey and Rob Carlock -- who now write Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!!) teased this quite a bit, but ultimately what we wanted to see was just our minds indulging in the what ifs that existed in the show, and we could speculate all we wanted, but it was never going to *actually* happen. It was fun to have that alternate universe though! And the end of the show played out really well because Liz married someone perfect for her and it got easier to accept canon and just see Liz and Jack as the awesome brotp they were. If the writers did a 180 and put Jack and Liz together at the end of the series it would crap all over the real relationship they wrote for them.

i know probably no one really cares and maybe this post doesn't even belong here (sorry)... but I'm sure there will be Shenny shippers that will never accept canon as much as what they want to see, but I wanna let you know (since you worry about the writers teasing Shenny... which aside from Leonard's nightmare Shenny kiss i really don't see tbh!) I can't see anything canon ever taking away our Lenny or Shamy. The writers love the relationships they've created and no matter what little jokes or jabs they throw in to tease the non-canon shippers (my favorite being Raj and Howard lmao!), our ships are safe, happy, and endgame :)

    image.gif.a2432308dfc408e10c9b02c92111da

  18. We're only like 1/3 of the way through the hiatus and this thread has become so restless that y'all are talking about Shenny and Rajward!

    image.gif.c6155f284015f47e2682727600e3eb

Look at it this way: Penny said Sheldon is like their dog.... shipping them romantically is like shipping Raj and Cinnamon! (which tbh I find way more likely at this point! lol)

Pretty convinced Lenny, Shamy, and Howardette are endgame, guys! Raj on the other hand... I have no idea where they're going with him but I'm liking his character less and less :( I think I'm in the minority of people who didn't particularly find Emily all that fitting for Raj and I don't mind not seeing her come back... (no offense to Laura!) I honestly can't figure out what they're doing with him but I hope it gets better!
