I'm ready.   Food, and water were part of our readiness kit we put together in May.  Gas for the generator and car, cash in case there is no electric for purchases.  Carlos is in Miami, Kathy is near where it's supposed to come on shore.  Mario is ready, and Kasey (although she hasn't been on in a while) is north of Tampa.  The safest one seems to be chucky, out there on the western end of the state.

    Did I miss anyone?

We're East of Tampa, and we're good.  Hubby's Storm Shield worked again (he's home for his birthday, which was Labor Day).  Got a day off of school out of it.
Not liking all those other things brewing in the Gulf and Atlantic, though...

  2. You're so right @chucky.  Here's some more pics.  1st is of flames shooting out of the roof.  2nd and 3rd are of a teacher's classroom downstairs.  4th is/was the Testing Room (also downstairs) where all the exams and records for State Testing are/ were kept.  I spent many many hours in that room.
I have heard that due to concerns about stability, it will be torn down.  The 7th grade team that was based in that building is being moved to another part of campus and is considering renaming themselves The Phoenixes.

  3. I have to vent.

This dispute between DirecTV and Nexstar has been going on for a week now.  DirecTV customers can't get any local channels owned by Nexstar.  Both companies are pointing fingers at each other as to who's at fault.  From what I understand, Nexstar raised their prices and DirecTV won't agree to the new price.  Nexstar says that DirecTV wouldn't agree to a temporary extension  and pulled the plug on the channel and is telling people to call DirecTV.  The Nexstar Facebook page pulled the ability to message them, post on their page, or leave a reaction to any of their posts.  The Nexstar webpage doesn't even give you an option to email them.  When you call them, they send your call to DirecTV.  DirecTV's Facebook page and webpage still allows you to interact with them.  If Nexstar is the victim, as they are claiming to be, why pull the ability to interact with them?

For me, it affects the NBC affiliate and another station paired with it. The NBC affiliate is my source for news.  I can watch local news online, but because the online stream is location based and my local station doesn't have an agreement with DirecTV, I can't watch national news.  I missed the Macy's Firework show as well.   I'm disappointed that the stations are in lockstep with their parent company, which IMHO is in the wrong.  They don't seem to care that their viewers, who they say that they are on their side, are being affected.

Both of them need to think about their customers affected by this and come to an agreement!

Totally agree. They could have done this so many other ways and had Sheldon and Amy work together and be successful as a team.

Yes, I think there is definitely more there than Howard knows. I think it could be done well. I just don't trust these writers to do it. That said, I'm still focusing on the fact that we have no idea what the issue was at all. Howard's mother could have well told him to leave and not come back but not have told Howard that, that Howard would be better off without  him. We had that happen in a branch of my own family. The kids didn't know until they were in their 20's that Mom actually threw Dad out.

Edited to add...one of the saddest things you can ever see is a kid who grew up hating one of their parents because they only got one side of the story.

I hope Howard gets an answer, because I can totally emphasize with him.  Here's why: my Dad left when I was an infant in the 70s, never be heard from again; no child support was awarded either.  Mom changed my last name from his to her maiden name when I was 4.  I never even got so much as a card from him growing up.

Fast forward to 2001.  I Googled my Dad and found his address.  My plan was to drive up there, pound on his door, and demand an answer so that I could close that chapter of my life before I got married the next year.  I chickened out and 2 years later he died.

When I contacted his church, I found out that no one (not even his widow) knew he had a child.  I did have a phone conversation with the widow prior to the Memorial Service, which I attended with my Mom and Husband.  She wasn't very kind to me on the phone, but she did give me the medical information I needed.  After the service, she walked up to me (I had not introduced myself before the Service, I just sat in the back being as inconspicuous as possible) and said "Are you Carmen?  If so, I am so sorry for what I said to you on the phone".  I do resemble my Dad, and got some stares during the Service.  I never spoke to her again, nor did I contest the Estate.  I figured I managed (albeit in a struggling manner) without his help during his life, I could manage without it after his death.  Furthermore, I felt like the widow had already received a punch in the gut finding out about me, why punish her for something he did?

My Mom passed in 2010, and I have discovered some things about their marriage I didn't know.  My greatest regret in life is that I didn't get the answers from the them about everything before they passed.  I sobbed during the episode about the letter from Howard's Dad because it hit so close to home.  I hope Howard gets his answers, even if he doesn't realize he needs them.

Yeah, that probably will happen in the finale!

(It still really hurts, when I think that Shamy will have kids, and Lenny won’t 😭 sorry, no hate to Shamy, just forever upset about my favorite couple)

I'm a Shamy, and I don't want a Shamy baby (maybe because I don't want babies).  I think that the Smart and Beautiful Lenny baby is endgame.

Subbed in a chemistry class this week. The teacher had this up. TBBT is popular in schools, apparently.

Y'all should see my office (I'm a middle school counselor).  First question the kids and some parents always ask is "Do you like Big Bang Theory?"

That was originally just a set up joke. For Sheldons “Not to mention imaginary”. I don’t think the showrunners ever intended it to be a false dawn or anything. Or that it would of caught on with the audience for 12 years. Like it was in Friends in the pilot. When Ross grabbed a spoon. That was deliberate.

I don’t know if Lenny we’ll have kids. And I’m sure the TPTB are well aware that the line “Our babies well be smart and beautiful” hold value for the TBBT fandom. And it would be great if they homages that in the pilot in the series final. But I don’t think it we’ll be dependant on it.

I still think we could have the "smart and beautiful baby" line honored with this as the final episode:

Cold open is Penny learning she is pregnant, storyline rotates around her telling Leonard and then everyone else.  Tag is a time jump with Penny going into labor and entering the newly repaired elevator to go to the hospital to deliver the smart and beautiful baby.

This way Kaley doesn't have to walk around in a pregnancy suit (other than the final scene), nor does she have to deal with a baby.

A couple of hours ago, I watched House of Cards. I'm not that interested in it but Marc * likes it. Anyroad, there was a scene where a man went into a restaurant and ordered shepherd's pie and sprouts.

    Yuck, sprouts.

    * My friend who I live with.

    Yuck
I hate peas and sprouts, y'all...

P.S. Anu needs to watch Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and tell me she still hates music...

I don't understand how anyone could hate music.  I can't function without music.
I want Anu to see A Star Is Born or Bohemian Rhapsody and tell me she still hates music.  If y'all haven't seen these yet, go see them ASAP.

Maybe there was some new online game that the guys were hooked on, Leonard especially and he does some kind of repetitive strain injury or something hence his brace?

Overwatch was the last game you saw them playing online and that was ages ago and just a brief scene.

Maybe they get hooked on Fortnite.
