Creepy is not a harsh enough word for Amy's suggestion of shared breastfeeding. Sometimes I wonder if she's somehow related to Howard.

She WAS into pioneer days stories, when wet nurses, as they were called, were more common. Getting someone else to feed your kids used to be the norm before there was formula. It was more common with royalty and the well off, than with the lower classes, but certainly happened a lot. Poorer people were often hired to do it.

As a 64 year old redneck from Alabama who sometimes can't remember what I ate for breakfast, history doesn't matter to me as much as the future. You are of a different mindset. I applaud you for your convictions.

I'm 64, too. I just love history. It has given me most of my friends and visiting historical sites has given me some of my most enjoyable adventures.

OTOH if Americans google HM they may well see pre-1952 references from the time when she was HRH Princess Elizabeth, during WWII for example, and have no reason not to assume the title stuck.

That is a very good point!

She might not even know  how American Churchill was.

One of Churchill's most famous speeches, though, to Congress, is the one where he said if he'd had an American father and a British mother, instead of the other way around, he might have gotten there on his own. But even people in the United States are deplorably bad at times about their own history, never mind anyone else.  As a historian it bothers me a lot.

Makes you wonder who was laughing at that one. It’s so ugly. I suspect, on the basis of no evidence, that it could be a Weinstein reference. And not meant to be funny. Some journalist could ask.

I don't think they would have done that at that time. God knows there were enough people besides Weinstein doing the same things for years and years anyway. But the writers must have thought it was funny, as it went perfectly well with a lot of the other slut jokes they came up with from start to almost finish. There were so many over the years.

Be that as it may, even Chuck should have seen the writing on the wall concerning this character assassination. I'm sure that could have gotten the same message across without the indepth descriptions.

I still say this is what they wanted to do. If they didn't want to do it they wouldn't  have done it and WOULD have stopped. They didn't so I don't think they saw it as character assassination. They had to have been getting off on in somehow.

That could work. It's not really science unless you count political science.

I think anything virus related could tie into science. But I don't really care either way. I was just responding to ajond.

If I had Netflix, I think I would certainly tune into Jim Parson in Ryan Murphy's new show, Hollywood, if that's more on topic. I've heard a lot about it and I've seen a lot of pictures of him in the 40's suits with the wide lapels and the pocket squares.  It was mentioned in last week's Parade magazine and there's an article here:

I do not trust my fellow humans to do the right thing.

Oh, I don't either. Here in my subdivision they put police tape around play lots and people were lifting the tape to let the kids play on the equipment and taking pictures of it and posting them. I didn't know there were so many idiots round here.  Many stores in Indiana are doing a good job, requiring masks and limiting the number of people going in, but people are just being idiots. I'm not sure how much help gloves are. People are wearing them all day long going in and out of stores touching things, driving around in them and then at the end of the day throwing them down in the parking lots. I told a friend of mine if people don't understand the seriousness of this and they get it and die I won't feel sorry for them. She chewed me out talking about who they will spread it to. I used to say that, too, but now my idiot friends and relatives who are blowing this off can just stay the hell away from me. I don't want them in my house and I am giving everyone outside when I have to go, which is maybe once a week a wide berth. This guy  isn't just a joke. He's all too real where I am.

Sad news out of San Diego...I feel bad for the people who enjoy it so much

So much is being cancelled and some of it WAY in advance. I was thinking of going to a convention in Orlando in October that just got cancelled. I'm in Indiana and the word is we may start to open May 4th but we are closer to Chicago than Indianapolis, so that makes me worry. I agree that some things might be able to open. I have a friend desperate for their knee replacement and all non-emergency surgeries have been cancelled, but I can't understand states that are opening weird stuff like some of the things a friend of mine in Georgia is telling me about. (Picture is from her.) Is there no middle ground?

Probably a foregone conclusion. But do we think well ever get a reunion? Or a spin-off? I think a Raj spin-off makes the most sense to me. As he was the least developed character imo. And I could see a solid premise. I’m not sure about a Lenny spin-off.

I don't think we will get a reunion or a spin off. If we do get a reunion I think it will be a long way down the road.

Is anyone watching any other show other then TBBT? I was watching Friends up to S8. Still my fav sitcom ever. But I often find myself going back to Big Bang. As the non conventional , and unique storytelling holds up more.

I haven't watched TBBT since the finale and I can't stand Friends. I've never been able to finish a whole episode.  I was watching the Good Doctor but this season was NOT good to me and I loathed the season ending episode. I've been watching a lot of movies since I've been stuck in the house. Last week I watched The Queen, The Imitation Game, The Lion in Winter (with Katharine Hepburn...it's the only version I will watch) Hidden Figures, Argo and the Anne Frank movie with Ben Kingsley as Otto.

  9. That WAS Kaley on the YS episode and I missed it! I'll have to look that one up. This is what Molaro said about it:

Confirming that she played a taunting voice in a swimming pool, co-creator Steve Molaro revealed: “I needed someone to do the voice. I knew I wanted it to be female and kinda sexy, and I said, ‘Well, duh! Kaley is perfect for this.'”

He added of his original pitch: “I said, ‘Hey, I have a weird pitch for you – Sheldon has a nightmare, and he has to go to this pool, and he speaks to the pool water. Do you want to be the voice of pool water?’

“She just laughed and said, ‘Absolutely, I do’.”

Don't know how you can think that Leonard should not have been upset with Sheldon.

Penny had said she didn't want kids. We can't just magically wish that away. It did happen. It could have been good news or bad news. How was Sheldon supposed to know?

I do miss BBT but the show wasn't great anymore So many episodes in the last one - two seasons I don't even care to re watch. But I especially miss JP I can only find tidbits of what actors that are working with him post. He's such a shy guy. I believe the show he's doing with Mayim he's only producing but not starring in  (Bummer) Hopefully he will though once in a while.

I agree. It went downhill from eight on. But I also miss JP. I can't wait for more info on the show he's doing with Mayim.

Same here. I've tried The Conners but it's a bit too serious and sordid to get me hooked. The interesting thing is, we saw some of the adults when they were children and it's the same cast playing them, now grown up. The adults then are older but not greatly changed. The new cast members are children. Some of the cast members have been in TBBT - I recognise at least four.

I never watched it until this week. I heard about the live action episode and decided to watch it. It had a few funny moments. But since I didn't know what was going on I wasn't attuned to it all.
