  1. Over the coarse of time it does matter. The ratings weren't going to be down because the majority of TBBT fans weren't even aware of Kaley's accident to begin with little alone what episodes she was going to be either absent or barely in at all. You have to remember that the overwhelming majority of the fans don't participate in online fandom so most aren't up date on celebrity news and other information regarding the show. They simply know what day the show regularly airs and simply tunes in for it.
  2. That is by design. They took a lot of flack from the fans over this and I think they'd just soon they(fans)forgot about it ever happening. So by not bringing it up they kind of help it along by preventing the situation from being fresh in the fans mind. Do you think this is not still in peoples minds? I know it has cast a taint over every episode I've seen this season and is one of the reasons I don't enjoy the show very much any more. I lot of people will go out of their way to not think about stuff that they didn't like happened on a tv show they watch. It surprisingly works for a lot of people, as long as said event doesn't get brought up again.

    Amy.

If he really valued Penny's opinion over the other guys then why was she the last person he spoke to about the situation? He went to Penny out of sheer desperation over what was happening. He was so concerned about the possibility that he would lose Amy that he did something he would ordinarily never do and that was ask Penny out on date for no other reason then to attempt to make Amy jealous the same way he was feeling due to Stuart. Penny instantly recognizes this and calls him out on it, after reluctantly admitting as much Penny than tells him to strap on a pair and tell Amy how he feels.

Even just primarily responding to friends and family on Twitter she is giving fans a glimps into her personal life and who she really is as a person, it's more than a lot of performers do, who are very guarded about anything when it comes to her there personal lives. Often for good reason, but it's just nice to know that she willing to do that a little. Her now ex-fiance obvious couldn't handle the fact that she was going to be going back to kissing her co-star/former boyfriend. Growing apart is when you don't see or talk to a person. It's not like she's home all the time. They film for three weeks and take a week off. During the weeks that she films she has very little time for others because when she isn't at table reads and rehearsals she's at home memorizing her lines. That doesn't leave a lot of time to spend with your significant other. This can lead to resentment for the lesser known partners. Most likely when they we're together they weren't speaking much because of the "elephant in the room" situation regarding the jealousy issues. This can easily lead to a break up but in her case it was for the best. This is why a lot of famous actors/actresses have such a horrid track record with romantic relationships. Most of the time they date within their own circles but because unlike normal people who can't understand the pressures and time away that is often required, fellow famous performers understand that portion of it. The second part is an issue a lot of the time regardless of the status of the the other person in the relationship. So even actors break up with one another over jealousy issues. Having to see your significant other kissing someone else can be too much even knowing that it's "only professional". I hope she can find someone who will be supportive of her and not be jealous of the fact her and Galecki used to be an item. Their romance has been over for a good two years now and they are simply good friends.
  6. 8 Simples rules wasn't a ratings monster but it ultimately wasn't able to survive without Ritter because it hadn't been around long enough to garner enough sympathy for the viewers to stick with it after his passing. Had Ritter not died, the show might still be around today.

Who knows. The guy might be legit, he might not be. I could actually see Kaley going on IMDB. Unlike other actress I think she wants to be as accessible to fans as possible and she might be curious enough that she would at least go and see. She has her own twitter account that she actively participates in herself, ie: not having a publicist do it for her, like say Ashton Kutcher does now. Unfortunately for her going to message boards like IMDB is almost always going to be a mistake because there are always going to be jealous haters posting some nasty stuff and she'll be unable to shield herself from that. With Twitter she has has a little bit more control.
  8. Yes they would have to pay her. Which means that the show would be even more expensive to produce because then they would have to hire a new actress, pay her salary along with what Kaley would be making. That ain't going happen because everybody involved in the production of the show is happy with the work Kaley does. CBS/Warner isn't going to mess with the shows success. Penny is vital to the show because she represents the normal everyday people. You have to have that perspective on the show. Most of the comedy in the show is the contrasting of the viewpoints of the nerds/geeks versus that of the normal. She is the one who encourages the guys and Amy to expand their horizons. Without Penny, Sheldon would never have manned up asked Amy to be his girlfriend. Without Penny, Amy would still be what amounted to a female Sheldon. Without Penny, Howard would never have met Bernadette. Without Penny, Leonard never would have had the courage to ask other types of woman besides Leslie(who was terrible for him)out on dates. The only character who she really hasn't had as much of an effect on is Raj. His character is faced with a problem that Penny can't help him with much. She isn't getting as much screentime because the writers have added two more female regulars to the cast and they have to be fit in but that doesn't mean they are going to write her out of the show. I also don't think TAAHM is a good example because while the show had initial boost in ratings because...lets be real, the fiasco with Charlie Sheen drummed up huge interest in how they were going to handle his departure. Those initial episodes were always going to get high ratings. The ratings have come back down to normal levels. The thing that makes TAAHM an exception to the rule is that Charlie Sheen's nasty behavior and the fact that it was potentially putting a lot of people out of work garnered the show a lot of sympathy from viewers, so they are sticking around to help keep the show afloat. This is not the case when most shows lose a vital character. Just look at what happened with 8 Simple Rules. They lost Jon Ritter and while that may have gained the show some sympathy from the viewers when they tried to carry on without him it was ultimately cancelled because viewers stopped tuning in after those initial episodes post Ritter aired. Sure people still tuned in but the fan opinion on those episode weren't vary high. Most common reason being because Penny wasn't there. I think it would really hard to replace her character because most of the fans like her a lot. They would have to get a new female cast member to be the girl next door type character. Since they already have it with Penny it doesn't make logical sense to get rid of her character. Plus it also means they would have to start from scratch on this new character.

well maybe we should all send Johnny and the writers cards, it's not that she is going back to kissing her co star it's that the co star is also an ex, so the guy is a gold digger/douche bag(among other things)/jealous issues sounded like a prize. That's pretty much a given.

There's a new thread over in the IMDB message boards with a poster who supposedly dated Kaley at one time and is still friends with her. According to this person issues with a co-star(obviously Johnny Galecki)on the show is at least partially to blame for the split. This leads me to believe that the guy, besides being a gold digger(douch bag)obviously couldn't handle the fact Kaley was going to be going back to kissing her costar again. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898266/board/thread/195821223
  11. This doesn't have anything to do with some type of double standard. There was a reason Leonard was the one who attempted to move on from Penny whilst she largely stayed single. Penny was the one who broke up with Leonard to begin with and this gave her the power in the relationship. She has always primarily held the cards because she has always been put on a pedestal by Leonard. With her breaking up with him and him moving on to Priya, even it was only temporary, it allowed Leonard to realize that he could land an attractive woman and possibly find happiness without it being Penny. This strengthens his character while knocking Penny off that unrealistic pedestal that he had her on, so he could start seeing her more as a human being with flaws like him, so when they do try again they will be on more even terms which in turn will increase the odds of the relationship succeeding unlike the first go around. It also forced Penny to face the fact that Leonard might not always be waiting for her and that she's going to have to face her fears or risk losing him altogether. This in turn gets her to start admitting, even if it's only to herself that Leonard means more to her than just some previous BF, random lover. She wasn't ready for a real commitment the first time around but this time she wants to make it work which is why she is going about the relationship differently this time around. This is just another step in the evolution of their relationship. I understand that you don't like Leonard and don't want him to end up with Penny and you are entitled to hold that opinion but the writing could not be more clear. Leonard and Penny are endgame. This is basic screenwriting being practically shoved down our throats when it comes to these two.
  12. This development in their relationship has been two years slowly in the making and the taking it slow was talking about holding off on hitting the sheets. Sheldon almost always apologizes to her and actually means it unlike everybody else where most of the time his apologies are done more for social convention rather than genuinely being sorry. Plus Amy doesn't know any better and her obsession with Sheldon is going to make her willing to stick it out unlike a normal person who normally bolt.

They guy she was briefly engaged to was 22 years older than she was, that's just nuts. I would say even 10 years is pushing it a bit. It's doable but it's still a sizable age gap.
  14. They could very do something like this but I don't think they are going to. I do think Penny will most likely tell Leonard she loves him and they'll officially be out of the beta test portion of their renewed relationship. I think Howard and Bernadette's wedding will have to be put on hold because he'll be going up in space. There will be conflict over this between the two initially but given that Bernadette loves Howard she isn't going to force him to give up on his dream. I don't see Sheldon and Amy breaking up any time soon. In fact I believe that they will most likely be together for the rest of the series. No idea what they have planned for Raj.

This is probably the smartest decision she's made on a personal level. I think Kaley is probably a very sweet person but man she has major relationship issues. I think she needs to take a chill pill and just stay single for awhile. Try and figure out what she really wants before jumping back into another relationship, little alone getting engaged after a few months of dating somebody so quickly after getting out of a previously long term relationship. I actually agree with you for once Cbolt. She definitely would do better with someone closer in age but she's admitted that she has a thing for older guys. Johnny Galecki was a good ten years older than she was, I'm not sure how much older Christopher French was than her but it seems to be a pattern with her. She even admitted to having a bit of crush on Stan Lee, that guy is married and in his eighties.
  16. It wasn't simply the fact that they woke up in bed together that was the problem. It was because outside of a small group of people, fans don't want to see Penny "make the rounds" with the other guys in the group. It not only makes Penny look bad but it will literally destroy this group. Actually television writing is very easy to predict. It's all based on pattern recognition. Most writers who work on television follow basic screenwriting 101 procedures to the T. They rarely ever deviate in a major way. I study screenwriting so I know this for a fact. Howard is with Bernadette and even if those two ever break up there's no way Penny would ever date Howard. They already went down the road they did with Raj and if there had been any intention at all to have Penny date Raj they would have done so at the beginning of this recent season. While Penny does think Raj is cute she doesn't have any interest in dating him. That only leaves Leonard and Sheldon. Lets get real, Penny isn't going to date Sheldon. Sheldon is with Amy. Penny may be a lot of things but a man stealer she isn't. She wouldn't do that to Amy. This really only leaves Leonard for her out of the main guys. If Penny is going to date someone who isn't Leonard then they're going to have to bring someone outside of the main group. It don't see that happening anymore.
  17. If you are suggesting that Penny is going to date one of the other guys, I'd say you're barking up the wrong tree here. The incident with Raj at the end of season four is the closest thing this show is ever going to do in regards to putting Penny with any of the main guys save Leonard. Not only did the audience not like it but even the actors themselves weren't crazy about what they did.
  18. The Amy/Penny stuff has completely gone into creepy territory. The show runners have the nerve to try and tell us that Amy only admires Penny. We get super creepy comments like the the last one Amy gives to Penny in this episode. I though the funniest part was Leonard's "Hold on" after Howard tries to shoot down the notion of the duel. The Sheldon/Kripke stuff was smile worthy but not laugh out loud worthy. There was no element of surprise during the contest. You knew they were both going to perform horridly on the court. Comedy is about the element of surprise, it's about shattering expectations.
  19. He clearly has a natural talent for performing whereas Smoot clearly doesn't.
  20. That is because most of the legit science people aren't good on camera. They really can't act to save their lives. George Smoot was about as wooden as you could get and even though he only had one line it was night and day the difference between watching him deliver a line and having it come across as unnatural as it can get and Parson's who's deliveries all came across as natural. I've seen enough bad acting to know the difference. Neil deGrasse Tyson is the exception that proves the rule. That guy despite being a real life astrophysicist, is entertaining as well as being informative at the same time. If he ever decides to retire from his current profession he could easily be an actor or even stand up comic.
  21. It would have to be a natural progression, they just got back together and to have penny pregnant when they have so much issues to go through would be a mistake, If penny does get pregant it would be the last season of the show, plus it's not that hard to hid a pregnancy It has nothing to do with the difficulties of hiding the pregnancy. It has to do with maybe just maybe the writers choosing to not hide it and simply write it into the show. I don't even think this is going to be an issue anyway because I think Kaley is most likely going to want to wait until the showing is winding down ie close to ending before she starts a family. ETA: As for Leonard's list. Yeah that was tactless of him. This probably would have looked even worse had we not had Penny out right admit in season four that she tried to change Leonard. It's not like she's wholly innocent here. I'll have to go with Bill here. This was an issue of power struggle for them which all long term couples go through. When did penny try to change him? I don't think she would make a list if he didn't I kind of wished penny was reading another book, as for kaley say she gets married this summer and gets pregnant a couple months later and starts showing do you really think they'll have penny be pregnant that soon of course not, if penny gets pregnant it will have nothing to do with Kaley but if they have penny pregnant it would have to be the final season and if by chance Kaley is pregnant then they wouldn't have to strap a fake pregnant belly on her, but I don't think we have to worry about Kaley getting pregnant I just she her if she gets married the marriage lasting a few years and getting a divorce sometime during the series. Previous episode I just think it was to move the story along Shocking huh it did feel like an earlier episode and wow penny and Leonard getting along for the most part like a normal couple who don't fight all the time shocking Penny talks about it to Amy and Bernadette shortly after she starts having to stay away from Leonard due to Priya. In the episode where Priya makes the demand. When Penny interrupts their(Leonard and Priya)date she congrats Priya on getting Leonard to change his wardrobe because she had tried to but was unable to. These two instances show that Penny has tried to change Leonard, albeit unsuccessfully. She also got him to go see the physic in season three whereas she refused to read that book that he had on debunking of people who claimed to be physic. On the whole Leonard has been more accommodating to Penny then she has been to him. Back to list. That really was stupid of him but Penny got him back so to speak. I would have laughed at him shooting himself accept that I saw that bit coming a mile away. The moment they were in the range, I knew somehow that Leonard was going to shoot himself. The Raj and Siri stuff was pathetic. They really need to get rid of that mutism bit. It's hurting his character in a big way. Bernadette's reaction at the apartment was spot on with how we the audience should feel after been subjected to this storyline. The Sheldon and Amy stuff was ok. Nothing hysterical there. The funniest stuff was the interactions between Raj and Sheldon in their office. Those moments are almost always hilarious. Need more of that.
  22. 23. They didn't have to hide her accident for very long. A pregnancy is a different thing altogether. Besides Penny having a child/children with Leonard has multiple back up meta on the show. It would be a natural progression of the show.
  24. Or maybe the writers just forgot that Penny had friends outside of L/S/H/R/B/A.
  25. In this case it does. The show has gone out of it's way to show that Penny and Sheldon's relationship is one that switches between a terse friendship and that a a more familial in nature. This is something that keeps getting reinforced over and over and no amount of wishful thinking will change that. While some husbands may have their wives sing them something from there childhood this analogy doesn't fly because the show has already put the singing in the familial context. The last episode where Sheldon's mom comes and sings soft kitty to Sheldon. The blocking was damn near set up to be identical to when Penny sang it to him during season one. That's a direct parallel that puts Penny squarely in a familial context in regards to her relationship with Sheldon. Yes Sheldon does mention Penny's attractiveness but it is done in the most purely subjective context. It had nothing to do with any attraction to her on his part. Sheldon knows that Penny is considered attractive by most males and he states it as a fact. As for the moment in the Adhesive Duck Deficiency which Shenny fans put so much stock in. This was explained the episode itself. The coping a feel was purely accidental so that doesn't count for showing sexual attraction to Penny. The peeking had nothing to do with sexual attraction on Sheldon's part but rather he was following a convention in the hero and damsel motif where the hero usually gets to see the damsel either completely naked or partially naked. This fits with Sheldon's quirks of needing to follow strange protocols. Even Jim Parsons commented in this at the following Comic Con. This had nothing to do with any genuine attraction toward Penny from Sheldon it was simply Sheldon following a protocol. The scene at the apartment was purely comedy. There was no meta to support a pro Sheldon/Penny coupling. If anything the scene illustrated why they could never be a couple. Given how chauvinistic Sheldon behaved toward her. Carl has already explained why the Jewlery scene can't be genuinely interpreted as a pro Shenny scene. It's only there if you are giving into your confirmation bias. Sheldon's initial nervousness around Penny is easily explained by the fact that she was someone he didn't know. She was someone new and he wasn't used to being around her. This type of unfamiliarity is something that can cause someone like Sheldon to act nervous. Sheldon trying to impress Penny is just something he would try to do because of how highly he views himself and his genius. It has nothing to do with sexual attraction. Disagree here. The writers have gone out of their way to show that Sheldon is largely asexual when it comes to members of the opposite sex. If Sheldon is ever going to display any overt sexual attraction it's going to be with someone like Amy. He certainly hasn't expressed any genuine attraction toward Penny. I don't think the writers are messing with the audience at all when it comes to Sheldon and Penny. The problem is that the Shenny fans are so damn desperate when it comes to this pairing that they'll try to twist and interpret anything in any given Sheldon and Penny scene as the writers hinting at some kind of relationship down the road when the writers are doing nothing of the sort. The other thing is that writers know that Shenny shippers are a vocal minority. They make up but fraction of the total viewing audience which is why despite what they(Shenny shippers)would have you believe the writers haven't moved away from the Leonard and Penny romance...like it or not. The writers have gone as far as to give Sheldon a girlfriend. One that fits his mental standards and one that is very different from Penny as a means to both show and state that a Sheldon/Penny pairing isn't going to happen and why.
