  1. Several times over the coarse of this show they have shown Penny with a maternal/sister type role regarding Sheldon. The Guitarist Amplification where Leonard and Penny were put the the role of surrogate parents. There is also the Spaghetti Catalyst we're both Leonard and Penny are in the role of parents again with a make shift custody dispute over Sheldon. Yes Penny taking care of Sheldon and singing soft kitty qualifies because the only other person shown to do that for him is his actual mother. Granted it was a very unpopular move but Penny would and did go for Raj before she would ever go for Sheldon, because unlike Sheldon, Raj has a sex drive whereas Sheldon is largely asexual. Even though he currently is in a relationship he still hasn't displayed any sexual curiosity toward Amy who is the closed thing to an ideal mate he'll ever have. He's never displayed any attraction to Penny. He also doesn't fully respect Penny due to her lack of genius intellect and has and continues to mock her for it. That alone will prevent anything more than a terse friendship between Sheldon and Penny. No they're not.
  2. Your wrong. There's way more storyline potential for them if they are together rather than apart. It's just a matter of the writers stepping up to the plate. There's really only two types of stories they can do with L/P when they aren't together and that is the jealously angle due to the other having a new significant other or simply random friend stuff. Both of which we've already seen over the coarse of five years. I have no interest in watching variations of these two types of story lines for these two over and over. There's no intrigue to be had at all. Again the writers have to step up their game and really explore these two together which is something they didn't do the first time around.
  3. On and off thing is boring as hell. If they are going to put Leonard and Penny together then they(writers)need to actually do something with them.
  4. Not true at all. I would say I'm exactly like these guys, or as close as a real person can be in comparison to a fictional character. I play with toys collectibles and action figures, I read/collect comics and manga, I go to the theater to see vintage movies (in costume if possible), I watch anime, I play video games, I speak Klingon, I watch a multitude of science fiction TV and films, enjoy studying books on various subjects just for the fun of it, play TCG games and engage in many pointless debates and discussions about fictionalized material. Everything they do and everything they are on this show, is everything I do and am and always have been. And yet, I have never had any issues with getting girlfriends and now I am married with children. And we don't even follow the regular stereotypes of marriage either, with regard to the fabled drop off in sexual activity after marriage (not to get too graphic). Maybe some guys do better than others, but saying that guys like this NEVER get girls (of any kind, not just "geeky girls") is just completely false. But there's a big difference between yourself and the other self professed "successful with women" despite being a geek and how Leonard is presented on the show. You and the others don't seem to be ashamed or bothered by who you were/are. Leonard has major self confidence issues...still, despite getting all the female attention he has. He also has a self loathing complex about him that in real life would turn woman off by the boatloads. It simply isn't realistic for him to scoring as much as he has with how he acts and how he perceives himself. As a mental health therapist I would say don't forget that there are many codependent women around who would love to rescue and fix someone like Leonard. This is true. But out of all the woman we know about Priya is the only one who really fits that bill. You could maybe argue in favor of Penny as well but I think with her it was more of a second hand thing where she didn't actively set out to change him whereas Priya did.

  6. I wouldn't count on much developement for the characters beyond accidental. The more the characters stagnate the longer Chuck and Co can drag the show.
  7. Johnny and Kaley are professionals. They know that because of the characters that they play there is going to physical contact(ie: kissing, cuddling, hugging)involved between them. The fact that they previously dated isn't going put a stop to that nor is the fact that they both have significant others.
  8. I really don't like the lush Penny. As for Kaley...Sorry but I give it a year tops. Hopefully she's smart enough to sign a prenup.
  9. The ratings are still good but they got huge amount of negative feedback from fans over the decision to have Penny and Raj have a one night stand. Why do you think they clearly backtracked on it in the season five premiere? Let's not kid ourselves here. If the fan reaction wasn't so largely negative over this event you can bet that it would have been revealed that they had in fact had sex. Romantic chemistry and comedic chemistry are two different things and don't always go together. Penny and Sheldon have great comedic chemistry but that comedic chemistry wouldn't automatically translate into romantic chemistry. People mistakenly believe that these two always go together. The thing about Sheldon/Penny scenes that make them so memorable is because there isn't based in romantic sexual tension. Sheldon doesn't fully respect Penny and most likely never will due to her lack of high intelligence. This is the reason why they had to create Amy's character. Sheldon values intellect more than any other attribute. Amy is both highly intelligent and shares a lot of Sheldon's quirks which makes them compatible as a pairing.
  10. Howard and Raj never apologized, they just told him what they did and had Leonard not went over to Penny's initially he would have been apart of the that conversation as well. Howard and Raj didn't seem that overly worried and while Leonard had to be coherced by Penny to finally go both Howard and Raj had to be instructed by Leonard to help Sheldon. I'm just tired of this whole scenario being placed soley on Leonard. They we're all jerks and none of them really wanted to go after Sheldon. Leonard had to be coherced by Penny and Howard and Raj we're just tagging along. I'm not justifying what they did to Sheldon. What they did to Sheldon was horrible but you only ever seem to hold them to real life standards and don't do the same for Sheldon. You also seem to gloss over the fact that Sheldon was acting like a dictator towards them. When you ask you're friends to help you out with project you don't turn around and start acting like a prick towards them. All I'm saying is that while what happed to Sheldon was bad, he had a big role in what ultimately happened to him.
  11. Maybe not exactly that, but you are definately right about Leonard having to choose between the two once everything is out in the open ie: Penny saying that she loves him. As for the next episode, Leonard is going to pick Priya. Leonard will not pick Penny until he knows that she loves him.
  12. Leonard wasn't the only guilty one here. Neither Howard nor Raj really wanted to do anything either and they were part of the scam as well. Yes it sucked for Sheldon but a real scientist makes sure his data is reviewed thoroughly by his peers before he publishes the results or even makes bold statements like he did, so by that standard Sheldon is equally responsible for his damaged credibility.
  13. Who knows where they are going go but technically Leonard and Penny will have been apart for a year at this point.
  14. Howard was just plain pathetic here. His attachment to his mom has gotten creepier and creepier. For me it just isn't funny anymore. The writers are attempting to justify it with his mom having health problems. That might work for me if Howard didn't act like a dependant. While Bernadette's mom smothers her she at least has some independence from her and doesn't become childlike around her. Howard needs to grow up and soon or Bernadette is going to get sick and tired of this nonsense and dump him.
  15. Here is the trailer for the episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MILGKnBUTxE
  16. Yes it is a sitcom. But there is a rule that states that evey comedy needs a little drama and every drama needs a little comedy. Most of the time any growth you'll see in sitcom characters comes from the dramatic scenes. Ratings didn't drop when Leonard and Penny got together intially. Ratings didn't drop when they broke up either. It's all in the writing. If the writing stays compelling people will continue to watch.
  17. This episode wasn't too bad. I cracked a smile a few times but I never laughed. I did enjoy the L/P walk of shame scene. I hate to say it, but I just don't buy that Leonard wasn't thinking about the money at all. Even after she tells him that she'll give the money regardless of what happens between them. How does Leonard know for sure? He doesn't, and the best way he could have tested that would have been to not have sex with her. Unfortunately Leonard's credibility by the end is kind of shot given the the repeated mantra of "I'm not going to sleep with her" and then he goes ahead and does it anyway. It's like the univerisity guy says to Leonard at the end: "Keep telling yourself that".
  18. Exactly. I actually want to see the tears. I want to see the emotion, because without that the storyline becomes completely shallow and meaningless.
  19. I don't think Leonard is going to be spitefull. I think he's simply going to be to distracted by Priya to notice how Penny is feeling. I don't think Penny is going to advertise her feelings in front of everyone. At this point the only people who know that Penny is having problems are Bernadette and Amy.
  20. I'd say the Justice League episode settles that one. Penny admits that she's not dating Zack but rather with him so that she doesn't feel lonely on the Holiday. That's an admittance of a casual fling which is pretty nothing but physical relations. The point here is that from an emotional standpoint Penny has always had the upperhand because she doesn't wear her feelings her a sleeve the way Leonard does. With Priya back in Leonard 's life Penny is going to have to finally come to terms with what she threw away.
  21. That was me Carl. I'm the one who made note of the subdued response to Soft Kity. The first major Sheldon/Penny story of the year, should make fans of that pairing happy. If this episode proves anything is that they need to ditch the alcohol thing for Raj so that they can utilize Kunal more. He is such a great comedic actor and this little on running placebo effect gag is really hurting both the character and the show.
  22. There are some major problems with a romantic pairing of Sheldon and Penny. It would require a labotomy on both characters which would essentially change who both these characters are and thus render the whole thing moot. Penny needs someone who is going to support and nurture her emotional wants and desires. Somebody who's going to genuinely be there and care for her. Sheldon simply isn't that guy and will never be that guy. He's too self-centered and ego-centric for that. It's all about him. That alone would stop a relationship from ever happening. Then there's also the issue of attraction. There is none. Sheldon has no intrest in physical intimacy and Penny doesn't even view him as a man that she could be sexually intimate with, which makes it pretty hard to conceive a child when there's no sex happening. As for the child rearing thing. Sheldon isn't going to have much success because little kids are very self centered and oriented and that would put Sheldon at constant odds with a small child. Sheldon doesn't have the emotional maturity to deal with a kid.
  23. If the ratings stay where they are, the show can definately expect to go on for another 5 years. All the cast members are signed through a sixth season and unless any of them decide to call it quits, I'd say the show is staying. Whether or not the show is still good in a few years is anyone's guess.
  24. Who knows for sure. According to sources her relationship with Johnny ended because he wanted to keep it completely private and she wanted it to be more out in the open. You look at "Frenchies" blog and it kind of supports that. He talks about being with her and posts pictures of them together. If Kaley was trying to keep her BF's out of the spotlight, you think she wouldn't be allow her current BF to post tweets about them. The guy is lucky sob though. I'd be thrilled as hell to date Kaley.
