  1. Except they weren't hints. They were moments that he simply twisted to in an attempt to support a bias he has for the Shenny ship, while the writers(going by actually watching the show and where they have gone so far this season)clearly are doing the exact opposite. This is a sitcom, not a JJ Abrams show. The people behind this show have made it abundantly clear that Shenny is not only not on the table, it never was on the table. Since then they've only solidified this position by further developing both Leonard/Penny and Sheldon/Amy. These two things are currently happening on the show and given that the shows ratings and popularity have never been higher that isn't going to be something they are simply going to abandon in favor of catering to a very small and vocal minority. A vocal minority that has already gotten on the bad side of one the shows CREATORS by continuing to be obnoxious twats toward him via tweeting but also harassing one of the shows actresses as if she has any say in the matter regardless of the what this small number of fans prefer. These are not the kinds of things one should do if you are trying to encourage one of the major decision makers of the creative direction of the show to listen to such a request. I would more likely believe that this would actually cause the exact opposite to happen, and it's very interesting that Sheldon and Penny have hardly had any significant interaction this season which is already at the half way mark. Even simple friendship/frenemies storylines that most of the the non shipping audience has enjoyed in the past has been remarkably absent this season....hmmm, makes you wonder if that isn't the creative teams little way of telling these people to "piss off". Whats even more telling is that the shows popularity and numbers haven't suffered for it either.

No it's not. The pulled back and poofy style doesn't work for the character. She looks best when her hair is down and frames her face. It's downright distracting.

Kaley works that dress very well but her hair is a nightmare. It looks awful. What is it with the hair dressers for this show that they can't keep a consistent style with her hair. They don't have this problem with either Melissa nor Mayim. Sheldon is a giant pain in the ass most of the time and given how Leonard and co are stuck catering to his will most of the time it's only right that Sheldon should actually help out his friends from time to time. It's the least he could do.
  4. I would just chalk it up to inconsistency in the writers. The sad truth is that these writers will make a character say just about anything if they think it will get a laugh. Regardless if it goes against established continuity or isn't something the character would normally say. Just look at how Penny was starting to come around on the science and she was getting turned on by it just a few episodes ago, now she doesn't want want coffee because then she won't be able to sleep during the physics lecture.
  5. As for who's more attractive between Johnny and Jim, that is completely subjective. I've seen many a fan girl gush over Johnny. I'm with Rick on this. For those who are trying to evoke comparisons to what are considered the classic comedies....don't because it's only comparable in the most broadest of brushstrokes and it will not work as a solid argument for Sheldon/Penny. The characters in those films aren't comparable to the two we are talking about here. As to your question Annie....Sheldon is repressed, and I mean REPRESSED when it comes to deeper sexual desire. It is a large part of his character. He is very much child in many ways. He understands sexuality in a textbook and sterile sense. That is completely different from how most people his age view and understand such things. You really expected the writers to start having him mature quickly in that fashion when it took them nearly two years to move him from being single to being in a relationship? The problem here is that a few people seem to be completely forgetting just what type person Sheldon really is and that is sufficient enough to not only show why he hasn't turned into a hormonal horndog over Amy yet but also why trying to set up a parallel between him and these other characters from ages past is fruitless.

But it was his fault that they were even going to be in trouble in the first place. It was nice to see Penny acknowledge that she has insecurities about her place in her relationship with Leonard. It was the nice reversal of things. Even though they've left it open for Alex to return, I really hope she doesn't because she knows Leonard is in a committed relationship and yet she pretty much asks him out on a date anyway. This ruined her character for me which sucks because I really liked her in the beginning. If she comes back Leonard needs to tell her that he's committed to Penny. That was one thing that didn't happen in this episode and it was probably the only legitimate point Raj had. Speaking of Raj, they writers really need to start doing something with him and soon because he really came across like a borderline creeper here in this episode between him comments about Alex to his talking with his dog. Pathetic.
  7. That's not my issue. I agree that this is the whole point of his character. My issue is that there are a lot of fans who constantly come to Sheldon's defense like the character can do no wrong. I gets a little old given that if it were another character behaving that way these same people would be criticizing the character.
  8. So much word to this. I get so sick the almost blind defense of Sheldon in almost every situation where he's being an unreasonable ass. The only thing I'll grant is that yes, he should have been informed prior but on the whole he was being an ego maniac here. Fact is Sheldon has a bloated ego regarding not only his intelligence but what his contributions to not only science but to the university have been as well. Bernadette speaks the truth. NONE of Sheldon's work has been proven definitively. NONE of his work his work has been groundbreaking. NONE of what he's done for the university should entitle him to some premium parking spot. The fact that Howard is now a former astronaut who's work and designs have been used by NASA pretty much trumps anything Sheldon's done up to this point in the shows history. Until Sheldon does something worthy of Nobel Prize, Howard is in fact a greater asset to the university. Sheldon talks big and looks down on others work but the truth of the matter is that he's largely unknown in the scientific community in BBT's fictional universe.
  9. This kind of thing always happens in sitcoms. It is one of the infuriating things about how sitcom writers like to go about things once they've done a big reveal.
  10. You do realize that Sheldon is still very much childlike when it comes to both emotional and sexual maturity. He doesn't/didn't even realize or understand that Amy was trying to trigger sexual arousal. The writers took near two years from the time they first meet before they had them in official relationship status at the PG level. Did you really expect that they were going to start Sheldon's deeper sexual awakening so soon given how slow their relationship develops? It's still very much a long time away before the writers take Sheldon/Amy down that road officially. Just to play devil's advocate here. If you are correct and the writers are clearly showing with this episode that he has no sexual desire for Amy...a woman he actually admires and respects and considers his equal, what makes you think he'd ever go for Penny...a woman he doesn't respect, doesn't admire, and someone he views as being lesser than him?

That could be interesting but Priya's character really left on bad terms not only in relation to Leonard but also the fans in general.
  13. That was my point and it's also why at this juncture the writers really can't go back on this principle when it comes to the Sheldon/Penny relationship and how it's been defined. There's no way they could do it in a credible fashion and like you say why would they want to. The writers want the Sheldon/Penny relationship to stay adversarial/familial and so does the majority of TBBT viewers. Had the backlash not been as severe as it was, I firmly believe that it would have been at least explored a bit more than it was, while I don't think it would have turned into anything permanent, it would have served as TBBT's equivalent of Rachael/Joey. The very least I most certainly believe it would have been revealed that Penny and Raj actually had sex. Given that the incident was largely Chuck Lorre's idea to begin with and he certainly isn't the type to shy away from that kind of controversy when it comes to his shows. Again keep in mind that unlike Sheldon, pairing up or at least lightly exploring a Penny/Raj thing wouldn't have been come completely out of left field. Penny has said she thinks Raj is cute, so that shows she at least has a mild sexual attraction to him, we all know that Raj is very attracted to Penny. Not only that but on the surface level Penny and Raj have more in common then she does with either Leonard or Sheldon. Agreed.

    Season 6 spoilers

I liked Alex's character too. I wish they would move away from the P/L/A triangle but I have feeling now that her primary role is going to be to stir up jealousy in Penny. At this point I don't think I'd want her for Raj anyway either. Besides it's my belief that Raj will most likely remain single for the majority of the shows run. That is clearly where the writers are taking his character. You have to think about it, Raj is the only character left that can really fill that being single and looking for love=comedy thing. All the other characters are paired up and highly unlikely to be splitting up with the relationship issues being where the writers will try to mine the comedy on that regard.
  15. The writers know what's popular amongst the majority of the fans when it comes to the relationship portion of the show and that's Sheldon/Amy follwed by Leonard/Penny. Sheldon/Penny is a pairing that is only supported by a very small fringe portion of the fanbase. The people who run this show and make all the creative decisions knows it. They are NOT going to cater to such small minority. They know it will upset the rest of the fanbase and they will not risk losing a lot of viewers over something that only a minority of the fanbase wants. Proof enough of it was how quickly they reneged on what happened between Raj and Penny at the end of season four. The main fanbase was very vocal that they did not want to see Penny with anyone but Leonard. That was their one attempt at taking a chance when it came to pairing any of the other guys up with Penny and it backfired. Realistically Raj was the only other character who would have even been remotely compatible with Penny...this is even taking his selective mutism into acccount. There has simply been too much that has happened between not only Leonard and Penny but Sheldon and Penny as well to make such a massive change credible. Sheldon and Penny have firmly established their relationship as mother/son and sister/brother dynamic. Puting them together would almost feel incestuous in way because their bond as become a much more familial one.

    Season 6 spoilers

It's a very vocal minority of fans who want to see Sheldon and Penny in a romantic relationship. With a ship like Shenny, there's no basis for it to happen on the show. Deep down they(Shenny shippers)know it isn't going to happen so they go to extremes to fullfill the need. Like writing fan fic, which is why there is quite a bit of it. They also write blogs about it and comment on youtube videos. They seem to believe that if they make enough noise about it that somehow it's going to influence the writers and producers of the show to "go there" with the characters. What they fail to realize is that they are in fact a small and vocal minority. Given that of the 15 to 16 million viewers that tune into the show every week only a few thousand of them(this is being pretty generous)participate in online fandom, and even amoung that small number the Shenny shippers are even a smaller number by comparision. So were talking about a percentage of people that can only be measured in decimals.

I would think Shamy sex if it happens is going to be of those final season things.
  18. It would be nice to have some of these play out on screen. Sadly this show doesn't do call-backs often.
  19. You won't get any argument out of me on that. I thought it was in poor taste as well. But what it wasn't was a betrayal to Leonard from either Penny nor Raj. Actually them going there with that was largely Chuck Lorre's idea. When you actually read some of the interviews with Steve Malaro(one of the producers and writers) and Bill Prady(co-creator)you find out that the idea of it was an off hand joke that Lorre decided that they should actually do. Most of the writers were against it and from what I understand when the cast had the initial table read of the episode, Johnny, Kaley, and Kunal all didn't like that much either. But Lorre has final say. When it comes to the original unaired pilot. The Katie character and how she was characterized was what Lorre really wanted and invisioned for the female lead. The fact that it got rejected and they had to go back to the drawing board and re-tweek it was something they did but given the kind of guy(Chuck Lorre)he is you can know he wasn't happy about having to make all the changes, specifically regarding the female lead. It doesn't strike me as a coincidence that when TBBT as we knew it became that solid hit that more and more of the characteristics that made Katie so unlikable started making there way into Penny's character. It allowed Chuck to come as close to having what he originally wanted as he was going to possibly get given how the show had evolved from the unaired pilot to the show it is now. I'm just glad that a lot fans noticed and complained about that, enough that the shows writers had to even acknowledge that they blundered with Penny's character and are now taking the time to fix their mistakes. Lorre might not want to listen to the people on his staff but at least he isn't going to ignore the audience.
  20. I agree with your statment. But sitcoms are pretty notorious for this kind of thing. They'll have a big moment between two characters and by the next episode you'd never knew anything had transpired between the two if you had just started watching the show. This is done partially on purpose because it makes shows like it easier to sell in syndication where the episodes aren't necessarilly going to air in order. She didn't actually have sex with Raj. Granted she was going to but reallistically she had no moral obligation to Leonard in this scenario because he was in a relationship with Priya at the time and both her and Raj were single. Realistically Leonard can't really hold anything against either of them because of that fact. I'm actually glad that all of them have put that incident behind them. It actually shows a level a maturity.
  21. I got to say Leonard deserved to to be kicked out of Alice's apartment. He really wasn't being a good guy in this episode at all because he should never have gotten to that point with Alice to begin with. If he wanted to be friends with Alice he should have told her from the start that he had a girlfriend and just left it at that. Sure at the end of the day he didn't full on cheat on Priya but he's definately guilty of at least a partial betrayal(kissing Alice has to at least count against him in a fashion)and lets be honest here the writers knew that and had Priya full on cheat on Leonard in part to as a way to minimize damage on Leonard's character considering he at least strayed a bit. Penny actually admitted to trying to change Leonard. The difference being that she simply didn't succeed for any period of time. She complained to Amy and Bernadette about Priya reaping the benefits of her efforts into turning Leonard into decient "boyfriend material". She also interrupted and made comments during Leonard/Priya's date to congraduate her on getting Leonard to dress like grown man for a change. Which says not only did Penny try to change the way he behaved but also how he dressed. But that scene also showcased Penny's flaw in being so shallow and letting her opinions be dictated by outside standards. There's nothing wrong with how Leonard dresses but Penny grew up and was being told that guys should dress and looked like Abercrombie and Finch models. Those are the types of guys she's gone for in the past. I think now Penny's largely changed though and would never attempt to do that again.

The problem with this is when you do the research, you'll find that with the Emmy's, much like the Oscar's. There is so much politics, money, and bribery involved with not only the nominations, but with who ultimately wins that you can't take anything or the results with any kind of validity. I don't care how much anybody here loves Jim and Mayim as peformers, after they choose the clips that they are submitting it really is out of their hands and they can either win or lose regardless if they were the best peformers in their catagories or not. Case in point being what many considered the upset victory of Jon Cryer over Jim Parsons for the lead male peformer. That is why I don't put any stock in any of these award shows because they really have nothing to do with the individual talents of the performers involved. It's all about what studio is greasing who and how much. The other problem is that each nominie's work is only being evaluated on a very limited basis anyway if at all. Only two episodes a piece. That really isn't enough to get a genuine feeling on who really had the best peformance because obviously they are going to choose the two clips that represent their best work. Problem here is that in order to get a real and genuine evalutation on the performers work overall you really have to look at the entire season. You could easily have a peformer win based on clip submissions that represent their best work of the season but when you look at all the other things they did in the other episodes throughout the season you'll find that other then those two clip submissions their work was average or maybe a little above average the rest of the time, certainly not worth of an award that is supposed to represent consistent excellence in their given field.
  23. While I don't believe there will be another break up for these two, I also don't think they'll be be getting married anytime soon. If there is some major event for L/P this season, I think it will be more in the realm of cohabitation. The idea of living together and being together on a daily basis. That is actually the next logic step in their relationship before marriage. It's one thing to be dating somebody when you have a place you can go back to at the end of the day, it's another when you are living together and really don't have that luxury of having a place to escape to if you have a fight. It's the next test for their relationship. Plus that fact that you know Sheldon will somehow come as part of the package is also a source for comedy on multiple fronts. I think the biggest problems that this relationship has had over the years and why it hasn't been embraced as quickly as other couples is that the writers really aren't good at writing conflict for these two that doesn't involve the audience wanting to slap one or both of the characters upside their figurative heads. I have yet to watch a fight or conflict between these two characters that had me genuinely laughing and going "that was hilarious". Most people I've talked to whether they ship the pairing or not have said the same thing. Writers and producers will talk till their blue in the face about the need for conflict in the relationship because that is what keeps it interesting, but the fact is that there is a cavet that comes with it....it has to be entertaining to watch. Sadly most of the time when it comes to L/P, it isn't. This is one the biggest reasons why the audience has really embraced Sheldon/Amy because unlike L/P, the writers have been able to make their conflicts very funny and entertaining to watch. I think there is potential for L/P to be something really interesting and memorable but the writers have to stop with all the melodrama all the time and the notion that we need to see these two in constant conflict with one another. We also need to see more follow up on any major stuff that does happen. Don't have something big occur and then predent nothing happened in future episodes. There's nothing more frustrating from a story-telling perspective. Especially for a relationship that is supposed to be the core relationship of the show.

Nice try but this show has never shown any outright traditional romance between any of the couples whether they were together romantically or not. This is one area where TBBT does infact stray from the more traditional rom-coms.
