  1. Shhhh, they couldn't do that. It would have been a very short show. Looking at it that way, the whole premise of this story was flawed, because it has been made clear that Sheldon is one of the esteemed scientists in Caltech, so he could have just asked for a short meeting and walked into Prof. Hawking's office one day to show him his paper. There was no need to go through Howard, or even for a lecture. They just took the kind of comedic license which was taken in Linear Hadron Collision, where Sheldon could easily have got a visit in CERN himself, but the story was built around his being desperate to go with Leonard, as if that was the only way he could get there. Nail on the head, Pomita. That is exactly the way they write this show. An episode revolves around a single idea and whatever jokes they can get out of it. If they have to ignore past shows, character traits, or good science that is what they will do, providing the idea or jokes are good enough. It is a successful model for a show as the ratings prove.
  2. I totally disagree with that. Sheldon is an intriguing character but most of the good comedy has always come from Howard.
  3. Sheldon conforming to social convention? Now it really sounds like they've broken him. I agree. This was not 'out of the blue' or 'morally despicable' as was the Raj situation. It's just that they have taken the Sheldon character way far away in a direction that I find uninteresting and incongruous. The similarity between Raj's and Sheldon's situations is, to me, the fact that they have both been changed in ways that I think make them incompatible with the initial premise of the show. I fully expect one day to turn on the show and Sheldon will be played by David Schwimmer and he will be on a break from Amy because he slept with the red head groupie from the earlier season. You're really comparing Amy and Sheldon to Ross and Rachel? Wow. Well, not yet. As I said I expect it one day. I think they are going to take the relationship thing to an inevitable conclusion. It is getting them ratings.
  4. That's a good comparison except for the part about Forrest being completely stupid. Stupid is as stupid does.
  5. You are looking at this wrong, in my opinion. They don't write like that. They had a joke in mind. His medication was going to wear off just after she looks like she wanted him. She had to do that. It was the setup for the joke. Has nothing to do with the character. It wouldn't have been funny if she said, "oh hi, it's you," and then his meds wore off. Or you're looking into it way too much, oh the writing called for her to say that. No, actually we have tons of evidence that they write this way. How many out of character things have been done to set up a joke? They completely ignore continuity. They put things in that seem important because they are funny and you never see any reference to them again. Case in point, "after the wedding date, Amy thinks Leonard is in love with her and would be letting him down the next day." You ever hear anything about that again? She said it because it was funny. They never had any intention of having any such confrontation, nor did Amy ever again show any inkling that she though Leonard was in love with her. It was a setup for a joke and then it was done and forgotten.

  7. Yeah well attraction is very personal and subjective. If we all found the same thing attractive it would be a hell of a fight over one girl. They have made it clear that Sheldon is attracted to Amy. Saddly that changes his character profoundly.

  9. Nobody in show business is a sure bet, that's sure. He is taking her to Kona to meet his family though.
  10. I think the poster is talking about Penny feeling insecure about herself when she thinks about the other women Leonard has dated. Like in that episode when she asked Sheldon about Leonard's previous girlfriends "has he ever dated someone who wasn't a complete brainiac?". Penny has a lot of insecurity going on with regards to her education and intelligence. That's why she freaked out the first time after they dated. She thought she wasn't smart enough for him. Leonard has dated a woman with a PhD in French Literature (although for Sheldon it doesn't count since she was french LOL) Joyce Kim (a north-corean spy -not anyone can be a spy btw-) Leslie (Physicist) Stephanie (Medical Doctor) Priya (a respected Lawyer, who, according to Penny is a "sofisticated and sucessful woman who makes me feel like a toothless jockey" -i don't remember the exact quote but it was something like that-) it is kinda obvious that she will feel insecure about it. Penny looks at that list and it must not make any sense why Leonard would want to be with her, when he's been with all those intelligent women. Sorry you made me laugh. The expression is Toothless Oakie, not jockey. It was a derogatory name they called someone who migrated from Oklahoma during the great depression to the west coast. Denoting someone with no education or class, which is what educated sophisticated Priya made Penny feel like. Yeah you nailed it. Don't leave your girlfriend near Raj. He is a total hound dog since season 4. He would jump any woman with no regard to whose she is. He has absolutely no sense of loyalty to anyone. Except you're both way off, yes he had a thing for Bernadette it didn't go pass that, guys that you don't leave near your now wife do more than that so settle down. No, I disagree. Raj has no sense of loyalty. His inability to connect has nothing to do with his intent. If he could have, he would have.
  11. Kaley seems to have found a new boyfriend who is her equal. He is Bret Bollinger the singer bassman from the group Pepper. He is successful in his own right and their twitter banter shows he is very secure man. And the big bonus is, he is 34, not 48 like the last, "person," for lack of a polite pronoun.
  12. did you not see the episode? he said he was having affective feelings towards her at unnapropiate times... he also described of having a fantasy of her while working... and the "I'm in hell" was Sheldon in denial to Leonard... he after that, asked Amy "Don't stop"... that means the following (since it seems you do not get it): Sheldon is trying to fight the feelings and his attraction to Amy (I'm in hell), while at the same time failing and giving in: "Don't Stop" He has also referred to her as a "Hotsy Totsy", meaning, he thinks she is hot I think it has been obvious from the start that Sheldon is attracted to Amy. The way they have written Sheldon, he is germaphobic in the extreme. That is part and parcel to fearing sex, "which is messy and involves pleas to a deity or some such," as he told Penny. The messy part is what is important. Sheldon has genitals, as he pointed out, they are functional but he is afraid to use them for the same reason he ia afraid to be touched. The urge would have to overwhelm his fear for him to succumb to it. At least that is what I see as consistent with the way they write him. That sounds OK, but I have been at a cast party and am not entirely sober, so it may all be gibberish.

  15. Howard is the only consistently funny character on the show. Amy bores the hell out of me. For that matter, so does Sheldon most of the time. The writers only seem to be able to write L/P one way and that sucks. What I really miss is the season 1-3 geek stuff. That was funny.
  16. I am a bit tired of the way they have chosen to do Leonard/Penny's relationship. For some reason Leonard has managed to have a stable and fairly normal relationship with a number of women, but they write him as an idiot with Penny. He consistently does the wrong thing and pisses her off. Penny spent the entire fourth season mooning over Leonard, confessed that she should never have broken up with him, then as soon as they get back together, she starts right away trying to keep her distance. So far this has been the way they are writing the, "new," relationship. What was all that mooning over him and being jealous of Priya? So, in a moment of passion, he asked her to marry him. What is that a crime? I thought she had decided she wanted to be with Leonard? Maybe she could have handled it better? Maybe she could have taken it serious and said she would think about it. No, the writers have her freak out. Stupid.
  17. Yeah, she could sell me ice cubes in Antarctica with that face. Sigh!
  18. That would be nice. I know she was very close to John Ritter. She was still pretty young and it really hit her hard when he died. Don't know if you all know that John Ritter was the son of one of the greats of country and western music, Tex Ritter, also supposed to have been a really nice guy.
  19. Actually I see your point. Not wrong.
  20. LOL you are right. Suddenly popped up like new.
  21. Really? How do you know? She said she was happy to see Raj, while she blew off the others. She had to say that in order to setup the medication wearing off joke. That's the way these writers work. Has nothing to do with the character it's all about the humor.
  22. Yeah Sheldon isn't a pedophile he is a nute. He is incapable of having a sexual relationship with anyone, certainly not with Penny.
  23. As far as I am concerned, after what they have done to the character from season 4 on, they could just kill him off or deport him back to India. I find nothing about the character that is likeable.
  24. I read that page twice and don't see your reference. Also, there certainly is an episode 4.23. There are 24 episodes to a season.
  25. They are all saying that. It may be true but you can bet they have been told what to say one way or the other.
