  1. Dreadful episode. Simply aaaaaaaaaawful. Still waiting for the show to be FUNNY again instead of cute.
  2. Many of the posters here seem to have an unusually strong emotional attachment to the characters, especially Amy, so any criticism of them is taken very personally. As you said, it's just a TV show. And it's filled with fictional characters. I just don't get the emotional attachment and reaction. When it's stops being funny I'll stop watching. Simple.
  3. You can have you own opinion but be prepared to be attacked if you criticize the show in any way, especially Shamy. The majority of posters here have an extremely emotional attachment to it.
  4. Sorry to be the skunk at the slumber party but there were only two LOL moments for me - when Howard and Raj first got their action figures and when Sheldon goofed up another fist bump. I can understand all the Shamygasms over the episode but what most others out here consider to be the "growth" and "humanizing" of Sheldon, I see as the continuing dismantling of a once brilliantly unique character and his transformation into Ross from "Friends". It may be "touching" but he's just not as funny as original Sheldon. I guess it depends on what we expect from the show. LOL moments have taken a back seat to "awwwwww" moments. And the skunk leaves the room. Fire away.
  5. Leonard is my favorite character. It used to be a toss-up between him and Sheldon but I don't like the changes they've made to Sheldon. Leonard is the anchor of the show. His mannerisms remind me of Jack Benny.
  6. Gotta get rid of the mutism. It's used up its amusement value and it's too limiting to the character.
  7. You claimed that ratings and awards are objective. Ratings and awards are both subjecitve, based on the opinions of viewers and critics. An opinion is an opinion no matter who is stating it. You try to debunk opinions you disagree with with by claiming to have the objective facts, when those facts are really just based on opinions. It's a no win argument.
  8. Ratings are not necessarily objective. There are so many variables involved such as competition. A show's ratings might vary considerably based on what it's up against. Put TBBT up against say, American Idol, and see what happens to it's ratings. It could be the exact same show but it's ratings would be different. That's not very "objective". And awards are not objective. If they were then the show with the highest rating would automatically be selected as the Best Show. That's not what happens is it? Also there is no objective way to measure whether one actor/actress/writer is "better" than any other actor/actress/writer. It's VERY subjective. Nice try though at claiming YOUR opinions are fact.
  9. That's certainly true for this episode, but the overall trend has been away from geek humor and toward relationship humor.
  10. Excellent episode! Loved the way Sheldon corrected the waitress in the restaurant about Scotty being in the original series while they are doing TNG. Joke's on you! I've always liked the way he corrects people over trivial things.
  11. Thought I was the only person who felt that way. Once was enough, now it gets muted.
  12. I agree. It was an OK episode but something about Sheldon just isn't "right" this season. It's hard to put my finger on it but he seems to be a little too animated and a little too loud. A bit of overacting perhaps? I liked the Leonard /Penny scenes except for the cello bit. It felt like a soppy bit just to get a reaction from the studio audience.
  13. That's why I think they're setting up Howard and Bernadette for a spin-off series.
  14. Leonard, Sheldon and Penny are like Kirk, Spock and McCoy. The entire show revolves around their interactions. They shouldn't mess with the core. Howard and Raj are secondary characters like Scotty and Sulu. Stories involving them may be interesting but they're peripheral. The chemistry of the Big Three is what made the show so successful. That's why the expanded role of Amy is so risky. She interferes with the interaction of the Big Three by dragging Sheldon away from it. We rarely see just Leonard, Penny & Sheldon together anymore. Instead we see Leonard and Penny together and Sheldon and Amy together and Howard and Bernadette together. So much of the show is "couples" based now instead of the whole group interacting. It just seems too fragmented now.

    Sheldon

Agreed. It is risky. I hope they don't make the same mistake Star Trek:TNG made with Data. They gave him emotions in the movie series. I'm sure the writers and actor wanted to have him "grow" but they basically destroyed what made him such a unique character. A little change can be good but not huge leaps.

    Sheldon

That's an good example of how the show is now focusing more on emotion than humor. They're playing for the "Awwwwwwww" moments more than the LOL moments.

    Sheldon

Nice reference. It's what shows do when they're running out of gas creatively.

    Sheldon

To me it all comes down to what I personally think is funny because the reason I watch the show is to laugh. I don't really care about the "growth" of the characters as long as they remain funny. I thought Robot Sheldon was hilarious and unique but Boyfriend Sheldon is just a slightly above average romcom character. Just my opinion.

    Sheldon

I agree with all that. I think the writers have just run out of the type of humor that made the first 3-4 seasons so great. Now it seems they're just flailing around and catering to the studio audience for cheap applause and laughs. They're milking the ratings cow as long as they can just like "Two and a Half Men" and "The Office". The creativity well seems to have run dry. And they really have ruined the Amy character, but a lot of viewers seem to relate to her.

    Sheldon

    I do. But he's gone.
  21. - Fun with Flags - both times - any scene with Sheldon drunk - Amy in seasons 5 & 6 - Leonard's mom
  22. Those are very good descriptions and why I find Amy increasingly unlikable. And BTW - those aren't "lies". They're opinions.
  23. Well that didn't take long. "If you don't love the show as much as me just shut up and stop watching!!". Been there too.
