  1. This will be the last post that I make on this site. There is a picture that I saw up on a website from Ethiopia that showed this little boy's wrinkled, emaciated hand in this missionary's big, strong, obviously well-fed hand. The caption read "You hate your life, while other people dream of having it." I sit and read this thread as my husband and I are contemplating what homeless shelter we are going to next because we found out we can't get back into school. Do any of you realize what that is like? Every night I pray that I can have a home and be able to do something as simple as cook my husband a meal. Every night I pray that I can get a car so we don't have to walk everywhere we go because my health is failing. Every night I pray that we can find a job, ANY job, so that we can have an income. We've seen so many dreams of ours go straight down the toilet and we are hanging on by a thread because we are hoping things will change for us. It is not easy wondering where your next meal is coming from or what national forest you can pitch a tent in for two weeks before the cops come and throw you out because of course all homeless people are alike. So as I leave this board, I leave you with a suggestion. Think about it. This is my big bang theory. Peace.
  2. My husband and I were discussing Heath Ledger's portrayal as Joker in "The Dark Knight" and we both think he did a superb job with that. It was a shame what happened to him. He had so much talent and could have done so much.
  3. LOL They should rerun this episode and right after it put on an episode of "Animal Hoarders."
  4. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens with this one, especially with Sheldon.
  5. I also enjoyed Kaley in The Hallow. So many people thought that movie was crap but I liked it. She did a good job in it. I agree about her facial expressions...she can say it all without opening her mouth. Great actress.
  6. I wanted to know what super hero movies appeal to everyone and why. Personally, I liked Spiderman, and I just got finished watching Captain America and thought that was pretty good except I found the ending to be a bit abrupt. There were a lot of people that didn't care for Superman Returns but I didn't think it was bad, even though I liked the older ones better. I would like to see the Avengers, and still need to see Green Lantern. Then there is the Marvel/DC which one was better argument. So how about all of you?
  7. Hi Erin and welcome!
  8. Nightowl...right now it is the only time my husband and I can spend any time together alone. Bacon or sausage?
  9. I am just not ready to see them get married. Just think it is WAY too soon for that.
  10. I just got done watching Captain America and I can't wait to see the Avengers. It looks really good. I still have to see Green Lantern...maybe next week.
  11. The absolute minute I can stop laughing I will watch this...
  12. @Kyzzx I am completely loving the zombie thing!!
  13. I am in the United States...Ohio to be exact. Found TBBT totally by accident watching another show. Been watching ever since.
  14. I look at life as a balance. Intellect and emotion. If you have too much of either things are going to be skewed more toward that side and cause problems. I agree that Sheldon is honest. I learned very quickly in life that not everyone returned my trust, honesty, and friendship, but it took me much longer to realize I was not the problem. I don't see how a contract of any sort is going to work as far as a relationship goes. Circumstances change people and lifestyles, thus causing you to re-evaluate yourself at times. It is very difficult to stick to something when your life is changing around you and you have to compromise with it. If you set down some solid boundaries and compromise on the little things, you should be fine. I think it's all about being honest about what you expect and working that compromise in when you can, but you can't be so unbending that it causes discord. For example, let's say I agreed to wash my own dishes. Now, time goes on and I have washed my own dishes so my roommate didn't have to. Then I ended up getting the flu and couldn't. So technically I'm breaking my contract but it is due to unforeseen circumstances. So if that roommate is my friend, he/she will cover for me until I get well and I will return the favor when he/she needs it. If we just solely stick to the contract, my dirty dishes are all piled up and everyone is unhappy. Compromise is the key.
  15. @moonbase Ah...I see it now. Sometimes get a bit confused with the replies to the replies. @Sursonica That is too cool...really creative!
  16. The Mentalist comes before all else now with me. Following are Supernatural, Dexter, Criminal Minds, and TBBT.
  17. Moonbase, if you still have a copy of that I'd like to read it. Always interested in subjects like that. The coolest thing I've ever done...I will have to make that plural and say thing(s). My poems being used in ceremonies for the 9-11-01 victims, a poem of mine being read at an officer's funeral that was killed in the line of duty, and volunteering last year in Tuscaloosa for disaster relief. My husband and I supervised the children's section and school supplies section. I am glad I got to be a part of that.
  18. I agree with Rick on this one. In my opinion, it's too early.
  19. G'Day Elaine and welcome. I hope you have fun here!
  20. I love Sheldon's character but I could never see him with Penny. Actually, Leonard showed his heart telling Penny he loved her. A jerk doesn't act like that.
  21. Hi Ratman...hope you have fun here!
  22. Definitely rollerskates or my next this or that I would be answering is ER or ICU. Dragons or wolves?
  23. Scenic mountain top...you can see the idyllic valley also. Dragonflies or butterflies?
  24. Well said, and I agree. I guess you found a way to put the issues that I've been having for awhile. Sheldon in the beginning seasons was funny just the way he was. I don't feel that the show was supposed to be about "normal" people. To me it was about these people with various quirky personalities and how they got along with each other. If you keep trying to "normalize" them, it loses something along the way. The reason I began watching the show in the first place was because of the way they all acted. It wasn't something I saw in everyday life. Then to add all of these personality types together and watch them interact was fascinating to me. So if you take all of that away from these characters so they can "grow" and become more "normal" it takes away the originality for me. I like them the way they are. I guess for me it is the old adage "If it ain't broke don't fix it." If this was real life and we knew Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, Raj, and Penny, could we accept them as friends the way they were or just keep wishing they could be "normal" and want to keep seeing them change? Uniqueness is the spice in life. If everyone was the same and there was no variation, how boring this world would be. I'm actually going through a situation concerning this right now where I am staying. My husband's mother trying to change us into her. Sorry, but not gonna happen for either of us. And of course, that causes a lot of problems. Better in my opinion to either accept someone for who they are or just leave them be.
