I think many classic TBBT fans are not interested in the young Sheldon in this form, which probably leads to a partial unreflected criticism. I, for example, really don't care about this prequel, but that's just me. :shy:

You are not alone in this!

And all that screen time is exactly the reason I won't be watching this year.  Oh, I'll probably catch a show if it seems worthwhile from the TR, or I'll pick up what's going on here, so I won't be totally giving it up, but I won't be clearing Monday or Thursday nights, from any activities, as I've done for the last nine and a half years, to watch it.  AAMOF,  I'm already planning things for September and October, on Mondays.    I know TPTB, or WB, or CBS  don't care if I watch, they'll do what they want, but since they don't seem to care what I think, I no longer care about their show.

I did that 12 months ago, definitely made life much more relaxing. Now in the UK we have Stargate SG-1 and Warehouse 13 repeats, from start, clashing with TBBT. It doesn't stand a chance.

Pity, I saw them and the one thought that leapt out at me was that all the cast members present were all naturally funnier in their comments than the crap the writers have been giving them to work with lately.

Snap! Now it's anything other than!

Actually, I'm presently parked up waiting for customer to arrive, instead of TBBT on my IPad, a certainty previously, I'm rewatching Babylon 5 from the beginning.

Well to be honest the actuall show at this point is only a part of the money machine. Video, syndication, action figures, bed sets, legos, etc....

The show is like Transformers or GI Joe, a commercial to drive merchandise sales

    Yogurt said it best...

Though they've managed  to alienate a chunk of viewers. In my case, someone who's paid off his mortgage, has plenty of spare funds with a proclivity for purchasing memorabilia. Now moved onto other shows as I now have lost interest in all things TBBT, due to the writers, except for this forum, it's fun.

Well, only when Sheldon hogs the screen time. That's certainly true.

edit: but don't worry. I always have the remote to hand. No risk of self-harm. Thanks for your concern

That fast forward button doth ease the soul temporarily but there does come a time when you can't even bothered to press play. I'm with you on this one, as are others now.

Am I not alone in thinking many of the "jokes" we've been talking about over the last few days are just that? A sort of mean teasing? Except (in my opinion) for Sheldon. Where (again, in my opinion) where Howard, Leonard, Raj, Penny & Bernadette are tossing teasing barbs at each other, Sheldon believes in his remarks. He is stating his opinion.  He thinks Leonard is  wasting his time as a  physicist. He believes Howard as an  engineer and Amy as a neurobiologist  and Bert as a geologist are all inferior.  He believes that Penny is of extremely easy virtue.  That is one of the things that turns me off about his character. His barbs are what he believes. Again, in my opinion.

Actually watched the last 2 today, I was bored, it got no better. One thing did jump out, wasn't Sheldon not supposed to belittle engineers as part of his own contract, yet there he was with his physics jokes after asking where Howard was!

But Leonard consistently makes jokes at Sheldon's expense too. Even the last episode there were a few about Sheldon being annoying and not funny etc... you can pretty much pick any episode to see Leonard saying stuff like this.

Unfortunately that's not a joke, Sheldon is annoying and not funny, in my eyes at least.

    Sounds good. I'm in.

I've almost gone through an entire US trip without watching a single episode, even a new to air one. I've been catching up on Babylon 5 on my IPad when relaxing and chilling. From an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of TBBT episodes I've gone to "honestly don't give a S&£t". I may even have a clear out of TBBT merchandise when I get home, it be cold in the UK at the moment, a bonfire will be just the ticket. I have shows I enjoy, more deserving of the space now.  Well done writers! Not only do you lose a viewer but a big purchaser of your merchandise.

Happy for the Shamy fans. You guys truly had an amazing season and it's very evident that there's no end in sight.

To say I'm disappointed about everything else would be a huge understatement. Based on everything I've seen this season, it doesn't seem like TPTB have much interest in keeping me as a Lenny fan.

So, I'm out. I'll still hang around because I quite like the people here, but as a viewer they've officially lost me.

Welcome to the dark side, you get seriously chilled out here. Forum good, TV show bad.

I've actually fixed the equipment they use to analyse the products in both Coca Cola and Pepsico plants, based on My experiences I always drink Pepsi products.

I seem to be something here.

Is there an inaccuracy  in this?

Apparently in this weeks episode Sheldon says that discovery, that,  he related to Leonard and Penny first is what prompted him to start FWF, as you can see that is just wrong. I can neither confirm or deny if that is in fact the case in the episode it was noted by other forum members.

The thing is, although it is possible to eat a pretzel aftet having dinner at a restautant and ice cream for desert it is very unusual. If they said Penny had red hair on their first date would you be OK with that? She could have used a spray after their dinner and have it removed before they were back but that would be extremely unsual. The other things you mentioned were plausible. For exmple, we could believe Leonard put a rose on her windshield, it didn't seem weird. The Mandy kiss was much less plausible but IMO more logical than the pretzel thing that some of us view as an error. Personally it annoys me more when it is something they could have checked easily, Lenny's first date is easy to track.

A bit like in S5E14 The Beta Test Initiation

Sheldon: Hello. I’m Dr. Sheldon Cooper, and welcome to the premiere episode of Sheldon Cooper Presents Fun with Flags. Over the next 52 weeks, you and I are going to explore the dynamic world of vexillology.

    then later the same episode

    Scene: Sheldon and Raj’s office.

Sheldon: Here’s an interesting fact about flags.

Raj: I will take that action.

Sheldon: The flags of Liechtenstein and Haiti were identical by coincidence, a fact that wasn’t discovered until they competed against each other at the 1936 Olympics. And thankfully, their embarrassment was overshadowed by the rise of Fascism.

Because it's another example of them retconning something from the past.  Previously it was said Leonard and Penny went to dinner, then got yougurt, a pretzel wasn't mentioned until nine years later. A simple check of their own writing would have allowed them to match previous canon. It has nothing to do with her eating habits.

Maybe they've lost their post it notes , a quick check of the transcripts site would not go amiss with this writing crew.

When you say watch it "live", do you mean at the taping, or as it's being broadcast on TV?

Broadcast TV in the US.  It has been a bonus part of the holidays every year. Watch episode then go out for the evening. This year the response was, "Nah! Can't be arsed watching it, lets walk the strip (with a beer in hand)". Yes the show has driven me to drink .

But, those are people the show is losing, the show is not engaging them anymore.    I have in rehearsal and doing a show over the last couple of months.  I would record the show.  But, in a change from other times I've done a show, I haven't bothered watching the show.  I haven't seen last nights, and watched the previous three, sporadically.

I don't only watch for Lenny.  But, the way they've been portrayed over the last two years has soured even those areas of the show I still enjoy.   As a result, they've lost me as a dedicated, engaged viewer.   Zhalen gave up earlier this year, Nograv has been gone longer than I have,  There are some that left in season eight and nine.  There are those that are still hanging in, hoping for something better.  There are also those who think everything is going well.  I'n my case I don't see things going well, and I've gotten tired of hoping for something better.

I'm in the US on my annual holiday there, this year was the first time in 10 years that I didn't watch TBBT live, admitted we were in Vegas, but 2 years ago that didn't interfere at all. My wife looked at me astounded when I suggested going out for a walk instead. That's how far the show has dropped down my list of priorities.

You are right everyone has different taste. That's why lots of women were queuing up to date Raj & Sheldon in earlier seasons for their looks. And yeah we have never seen sheldon portrayed as a slob or Raj or Howard. Ever

Did a quick count of Penny and Leonard's past romances/flings:

Penny-  Kurt, Doug, Eric, Mike, Zack, Leonard and dalliances with Stuart, Raj

Leonard - Joyce Kim, Leslie Winkle, Dr. Stephanie Barnett, Prof. Plimpton, Mrs. Latham, Priya and Penny  Also dalliances with Alice and Mandy Chao

Did I miss anybody?  This list does not include her teen years in Nebraska

Also Leonard went out with Bernadettes friend Joy.

True, but it's interesting that, rather the merely shout "help", she specifically shouted "Sheldon help".

Because she knew the rest of them weren't there and Sheldon would be.

I guess the key here is Sheldon "correcting for observation bias" by assuming he only saw a small part of her actual suitors. Depending on how much he corrects the numbers up (which is simply guesswork on his part) the actual maths would probably work.

No it does not you cannot use a bell curve for dating data, bell curves are used for data which fits a normal distribution of data which depends on randomness. Dating is not random, it's discrete data based on a multitude of factors over time, but it is controlled.

    1. The scavenger was a game.

    2. Raj didn't make them run around town solving puzzels for nothing. They all agreed to play, they all got golden coins, they all won and they all had fun.

    3. After Leonard suggested maybe they could mix things up and not do couples, Penny herself thought Leonard didn't want to be on a team with her because she wasn't smart enough and she was a liability.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

And, this is not a direct reply to you, @JE7, but sometimes I feel that some people just want Penny to talk to Leonard ALONE, have plots with Leonard ALONE, interact with Leonard ALONE......

But honestly, I don't think the writers are gonna do that.

    Points 3 and 2

Raj: "Well, I thought… Come on, I didn’t want anyone to feel bad at the end of the game. And some of those puzzles were really hard and I didn’t know who was gonna get Penny".

Definitely insinuating she was a liability, this did prompt the run to India comment from Penny, she wasn't happy, neither was Leonard or Bernadette in the apartment.
