  1. I always say it'd be more interesting and surprising to see that he's actually already figured it out and that's why he's acting differently compared to last season (being scared of her leaving him, doing research on "corn-pecking", taking care of her, etc). When he has a feeling, he knows it. ;)

That's interesting! I hadn't really thought of it that way. That would just leave a flat-out admission to his feelings, which, if that ever does happen (and knowing Sheldon, he'll probably try to get around it first like he tried to do when asking Amy out) will probably make me cry like a baby.

  2. I always though for some reason that it would be kinda cute for Amy to take Sheldon to see that Large Hadron Collider that he so desperately wanted to see but missed out on Valentines day as a kind of extension on her experiment to make his feelings grow for her. I'd love to see them spend some more nerdy time together or for Sheldon to have a panic when he finds out that Amy only booked one hotel room .

Okay, that's probably a little far fetched :p but anyway, I agree, the fact that Sheldon gets so upset when they have arguments just shows that he's definitely got feelings for her that he doesn't yet understand or can admit to. It would be really nice to see a way for Sheldon to come to terms with those feelings in a way that's more creative than a breakup. I know people have already suggested things like a dream sequence or something like that but I don't really know. I honestly hope they surprise me ^_^.

  3. Amy is hilarious and she's quite possibly the only girl who would put up with Sheldon as a boyfriend, still sticking it out even though he's always manipulating their relationship agreement in his favor. Her sexual fustration is perfectly understandable since she's been with a man for more than two years who's still reluctant to even hold her hand. If that's not determination then I don't know what is! If she were truly selfish then it's likely she would have cheated on him by now, or altogether ditched him.

Those are just some of the reasons why I personally like her as a character, but everyone is entitled to their opinion :).

  4. Hey, it's Sheldon, not any of us, about whom the question of having sex with Amy is being discussed. ;) All that matters is whether HE finds her gross and horrible and repulsive.. and he very, very clearly doesn't. Amy is the closest that Sheldon has humanly reached towards attraction, in his life so far.

Exactly! The fact that Amy is not what modern-day society considers 'attractive' (though Mayim herself is very pretty) makes this relationship as special as it is. Sheldon has plenty of what many may call negative aspects to his personality but one of the things I admire him for is the fact that outside appearances are the last thing on his mind when he meets a person. I don't think the idea of them having sex is gross at all (though probably not appropriate at this stage) but in fact, a perfect representation of what love really is supposed to be.

  5. Everything. She is a drunk, she doesnt appreciate Leonard, she's good for proximity only. She's an attention whore. She seems to want to corrupt Amy and Bernie too. She's a bad example for all the characters. She just does not fit in mentally, intellectually, or occupationally I dunno I just dont like her.

I guess the whole 'not fitting in' part I don't mind because for me it adds some diversity but I can understand why her attitude would annoy people . I do agree with you about her not appreciating Leonard though. I know she's confused about her feelings but still, I'd kill to have a boyfriend like him!

  6. Not hard at all because my love for Sheldon, Raj, Howard and Leonard (Amy too after I became a member here) makes up for the disdain for Penny.

Ahh, that makes sense now :icon_cheesygrin:. May I ask, what is it about Penny you don't like?

  7. Wow some catfighting going on here. Reminds me of some doosies I've had at IMDB. LOL.

Anyway I agree Jim, Mayim and Simon are the best. I have a soft spot for Simon because he's gotten better over the last two years. Johnny is decent but Simon should've gotten a nod. Kaley...uggh, what do I say about K? Not a fan and DEFINITELY not a Penny fan.

It must be tough to be a fan of the show if you can't stand Penny! But I do agree with everyone about Simon, he certainly knows how to make me cry with laughter.

  8. I will wait on the spanking comments until I see the episode, because I know I liked episode 6.08 much better after I saw it then when I read the taping report. The taping report doesn't give you the actors or the editors creative inputs to the scene.

I was actually worried The 43 Peculiarity would be one of the worst ones so far until I saw it on TV! I was too quick to judge last time so I hope you're right this time around!

  9. Woah. Guys. Hang on. Don't argue. Well, over Shamy. Can we all just get along?

I cannot believe I am saying that.

Well, in my opinion, whether they show it or not, we can't do anything else besides wait for the episode or not watch at all, since they've already taped episodes and no arguments or wailing from us can stop them. I'll get my diving gear. I'll try to feed the shark myself.

Good idea, we all have our own opinions and it's okay to express them but not undermine others. Honestly though I'd love to be the writers right now and watch people fight over a couple I created...I'd see that as success in my books!

  10. Lorre carefully crafted this couple and he's not going to pour strange chemicals all over them and give the result to the fans to see if it kills them. Lorre loves this couple because it breaks his agenda and he knows he has to treat them differently. He drops these events in for humor and he's smart enough to realize that it shouldn't define them. Fans enjoy it because it's funny and rare, making it happen too regulary will be like pouring too much salt into the recipe. I know for a fact that I would struggle to carry on buying it.

  11. Yeah I'm a tad irked about it too. I guess am also one of those fans who would rather they didn't push the physical side of Shamy as well. Watching Sheldon smile with surprise at her intelligence and similar opinions was very heartwarming for me and I feel like, the way things are going now, their relationship runs the risk of becoming too shallow.

I just thought it would be cute for them to enter a physical relationship tentatively when they were ready, instead of being pushed to strange extremes by a sexually fustrated Amy, who, seems almost nothing like the Amy Sheldon was attracted to in the first place.

But hey, I should stop complaining, I'm sure it will be a good laugh and I still look forward to it. I mean, this kinky business makes good humour and that's essentially what the show revolves around. I just hope some day we'll see some more episodes like Herb Garden :).

  12. I just want to add 2 more cents on the whole season 6 Amy thing, now that I was talking with Razberrypie :)

What I miss, more than anything is the Amy who talks science crap and is the odd one out with Sheldon. They've turned her into "one of the girls" so much this season that I really miss them doing stuff together and agreeing on things. Getting excited about science museums and social experiments and making fun of pop-scientists and making science jokes that only they find funny. I really wish they could go back to that kind of Shamy. This season she's had maybe a couple of nerdy funny lines and that's it, the rest are all about not fitting in or hanging out with the girls. To be honest, right now, I'd be happier to see that, than any physical progress. Not kidding.

    Pretty please writers. Pretty please.

Not that the sexual jokes aren't hilarious but yeah, I miss that old exclusivity between them too. It's one of the reasons why I feel in love with that couple in the first place! Oh and Kyzzx, I know what you mean. That's why I'm hoping for a new years episode where such dreams will come true :D.

  13. I wouldn't feel too down about this episode, it did manage to strike up some questions and comments about Amy's character which are all very interesting from what I've read so far. I laughed a couple of times on the report alone, and I usually laugh much more when it comes out on TV. Granted it certainly wasn't the best but it's the show's fault for setting the bar so high with some amazing episodes this season and more amazing episodes in the past :). It's only set against the show's standard that this episode is viewed as 'bad'. It's only 21 minutes long, I'm sure they have many amazing hours in store for us in the future :D.

  14. Yes, he did get it cut and it is shorter than the earlier episodes, but not as short as the other seasons (except season 5 when it was way too long).

Ahaha I see, thanks for clarifying ^_^ I was wondering why I suddenly liked his hair again!

(also love how we're talking about Sheldon's hair, I think I can no longer deny being obsessed when my family tease me about it.)

  15. On a completely unrelated note, can someone for the love of God give Sheldon a haircut? I really don't like his hair right now. lol.

I thought he had his hair cut quite recently? It's certainly shorter in the last two episodes than it was near the start of the season, or maybe I'm just being delusional. But I agree there, I prefer it when it's short like it was in the earier seasons.

  16. I don't know. I'm torn between wanting to see the spank and I'm also torn into keeping it safe and only wanting to hear that loud slap, if it really was a loud one.

Yeah, I'm honestly not sure whether to be excited or terrified! My parents love the show because it isn't orientated around sex (though obviously they don't mind the mild references) and they're in their mid-fifties. We always sit down as a family to watch it together and I'm a little worried about how they'd react to this one if they showed the full scene! I might have to make sure I'm not in the same room as them when we watch to avoid the awkwardness xD.

  17. Ok, for discussion sake, after tonight's episode with Sheldon's comment about chicken pecking (and example), he clearly knew what he was inferring and talking about here. So how are we to reconcile is awareness of something that sexual in this episode yet in the upcoming next two episodes he is back to clueless? Isn't that being rather inconsistent? I mean it is okay for him to not know many things, but if he knew enough to suggest what he did to Leonard tonight, he certainly must understand that bathing your naked girlfriend and spanking her is not exactly non-sexual. So any thoughts as to why they moved him back to being so "innocent" and clueless?

I had to just re-watch this scene since my mom was being loud earlier when I watched it at her place but you know what? You make a fair point. I have no explanation though. LOL. Anyone else got this??

He DOES have a very sexually-charged Amy for a girlfriend which could explain where he learns a few things from. LOL...plus, I think Sheldon makes people think he is innocent about different things even though he is not.

Yeah, that's all I got. I know someone else can come up with something better...LOL.

    Monique

Thinking back on the whole caretaking thing.... I actually start to think we're overthinking it. It might very well be that caretaking is something he takes very seriously and partly does associate with "motherly" feelings so that he did not act with the intentions of... you know... taking advantage of the situation. I do now think that we are reading too much into it, I think they just wanted to have an ep where he takes care of it and it made sense to exploit Amy's dirty mind and his "innocence" for laughs. Also, it is true that he put up with more physical contact, and willingly, that he ever has with anyone, which kind will stop him from freaking out when THE time comes... if you know what I mean...

    anyway, just my 2 cents.

eta: I actually think the whole chicken-pecking thing is further evidence that he's more of a monk than asexual. He is not as naive as some might think he is, he just does not have his mind in the gutter 24/7 like most people do so he often does not make connections with sexual innuendos.

eta2: I've finally watched the scene and I'm just rolling around in tears. Oh God, Sheldon! haha!

This may have already been mentioned but it differs in the fact that it has more than one interpretation. Sheldon was treated that way when he was a child by his own parents, so since he didn't see it as sexual when his parents did it, I think he would struggle more to see how it changed when he was doing it to Amy. The whole 'chicken pecking corn thing' xD is more explicitly sexual. I'm sure he wouldn't ever imagine his parents ever doing such a thing to him in ANY situation O.o
