Joe Manganiello Just Had a Very Memorable Cameo on The Big Bang Theory
"I'll be honest, I went into watching the sixteenth episode of this season's The Big Bang Theory—titled "The D&D Vortex"—with trepidation. The episode was touted as a guest-star extravaganza, with William Shatner, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kevin Smith, Joe Manganiello, and Wil Wheaton playing themselves, but that's not on the list of things I want to see as the series wraps up. Sure, it's nice they finally got Shatner on the show—just not at the expense of other plot developments."
Oh, come on, Jessica.
Who could resist these enchanting smiles? 🙂
What plot developments. I still haven’t seen the episode yet but this wasn’t the finale was it? What needs to be covered in the “plot developments “ can be easily covered in 2 episodes. As I have been reading peoples comments most everyone seemed to laugh during the episode. Isn’t that what the show is about Jessica?

JMO but free time makes it easier especially for Bri. I’m still not sure what she does.

They've been saying things like this for a long time now. It's not like it's big news. For those of us that didn't want to see anymore babies on the show (I didn't need the two they conjured up already) this is not a bad thing, but it WAS poorly executed. They could have just left it to the fans to imagine what happened next.
But Kaplan is not of no consequence to the show. If he's saying this, it must mean something.
Nobody wants to see any babies IMO. Howdette’s was poorly written and totally unnecessary. I think what makes it more difficult is even though I don’t watch YS it’s mentioned Shamy has kids on the show. As to Lenny not having kids it has been mentioned only this season. It somehow could of been mentioned earlier.
As to Kaplan, I thought he was the guy from Welcome Back Kotter, he needs to remember how things end. JMO but most of us have mentioned how bad the show has been the last couple seasons.(some would argue longer). Having a casual mentioned that Penny is pregnant in the finale would make a lot of people happy and IMO only tick off very few. As I said early I wouldn’t think the ideal career woman who was married and childless would be Penny. A childless couple IMO would have fit Howdette or Shamy not Lenny.
Again a happy ending for all is what’s needed. People remember an ending more than a bad episode back in season 5.

Also , I keep seeing "poor Leonard" but what about poor Penny ? Maybe the writers will ultimately have her give in and change her mind. While that may be a happy ending for Lenny, it won't be a truly happy ending for Penny , IMHO.
Would Leonard love her still if Penny got fat ? If she got old ? or sick ? Leonard also mostly values Penny for her beauty too, so I can't blame Penny for being insecure about her weight/looks after having kids. There aren't many examples over 10 years where he values other qualities about her. A frank discussion where he assures her that he values her for more than just a trophy wife who would give him trophy kids would be nice, but at this point it seems too little, too late.
There was really no indication that Penny didn’t want kids till this season. There has been a few occasions kids have been brought up and never a mention by her no kids.
As to the frank discussion about Leonard only wanting her for her looks you do have a point. But Penny could ask the question too.

Why is it a disservice in your opinion?
Someone like Bernadette who worked hard going to graduate school to earn her PHD while waitressing. Penny on the other hand who quit her job and had no prospects got her job basically because Bernadette’s boss was scared of her.

I have read this article. it is only Kaplan's PERSONAL opinion. It does not mean this topic will end in this manner. But one thing I think they were correct on is because they have cast aside Lenny these last few years without any meaningful storylines they may be trying to make up for the lost time by giving them this no baby or baby arc.
Someone needs to take Mr. Kaplan off his high horse. The show has never meant to be about something that deep. I think the show is doing women a disservice if Penny is the poster child of a career woman with no kids.

IMO, but the decision to have kids is much more terrifying than admitting you love someone or agreeing to marry someone (and Penny was really afraid of both those things). So, it's okay to be scared and to have doubts.
The ending of the Zack storyline bothered me. It ended with a phone call. To me it should of been Penny stepping up admitting she had a problem with all this. Not the usual Leonard backing down. Just as someone who mentioned earlier on one of the forums on how Leonard is still afraid of Penny leaving him. (His discussion with Stuart about Denise). To me it should of been unless you want kids I’m donating.
-
I think the only way they can get away with no kids is if she can’t. JMO if Penny’s excuse is she’s scared it’s time for her to put on the big girl pants.

I don’t think Kaley really wants to go on. She also said she would stay for another 20 years but I take that with a grain of salt.I believe she is sad the show is ending but she will move on. Someone suggested a time jump in a spin-off. Going to make them older. The show should of ended at least 2 years. Let’s let the show end with at least a little dignity.
-
Fraiser worked because Cheers was just a small part of his life. The Joey show could of worked since he was the only one single but didn’t. Also how is TBBT ending is important although I’m not sure it matters. Are you going to have a couple who’s childless or with a little kid. If they move away what are they going to be doing. I’m a Lenny fans but a spin-off doesn’t interest me.
-
I think it’s beyond believability that if Leonard still worked at Cal Tech that Lenny wouldn’t see all the other characters. All the characters on TBBT are too involved in each other’s lives.

Really nice that we finally get some focus on Penny's work from the writers and it's awesome that she actually is successful in her work.
This has set up written all over it.

I did. All of his roles have been small roles. No different than thousands of other character actors. How does he compare to Alan Alda?

Maybe...not sure what your point is
SJP is also won 2 razzie award for worst acting. The fact is he is known for TBBT and a supporting role in a movie. Thousands of actors have done more. It seems to me the word legend is supposed to be for the top 100 of all time which are generally people who are dead or a Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks types. Most people could come up with thousands of actors before even mentioning JP.

I'm sorry, but I'm not one for going on and on over a post,I like positivity and this feels negative--like an argument. Sorry, didn't really read your posts very well, I'm not familiar with Asner and Knotts, histories. To me every actor has their own path, doesn't make it true that another actor will follow the same one. I don't feel I have to prove my reasoning or make sure I've convinced someone else that I'm right, I still believe what I have said.. But, I do think Jim is a legend now --that is one thing you have helped convince me of.
Subjective statement. I do favor Parsons over other actors in the show but I don't feel the need to put the other ones down.
Sarah Jessica Parker won four golden globes. Is their a category above legend?
-
JMO many more people know the character Sheldon Cooper than know who Jim Parsons is.

I am betting on no kids for Lenny...I may be wrong but I saw this episode as affirmation that she doesn't want kids. I take with what I have read in the interview about the finale and it be sad and emotional and not paying lipservice to fans. I just have a feeling that they will go a different way than what fans suspect. Just my opinion though. Nothing else.
It seems to me that they have to look at syndication. People want happy endings. HIMYM got people’s underwear in a bunch when they had the mother die. That’s why they redid the finale. The other two main storylines on TBBT can go in a couple different directions and people will be happy. There’s flexibility there. I believe Jonny on this thread a non Lenny fan mentioned after the last episode he was more convinced it was going to happen. I totally agree. As for cast interviews about the finale their comments and 25 cents are worth 25 cents.
-
I also think episodes like this is all because of the negative feedback from 12.3. It didn’t matter as much in earlier episodes and seasons because the end wasn’t near. It is now. I think generally the audience either wants Penny to have kids or could careless either way. There may be a few people who look up to Lenny as a childless couple but JMO they like the idea but don’t actually watch the show.
i also think Prady or Lorre peons, like Alex Ayers, read forums like this and read articles that Jessica Radloff, Kim Potts, or others right about the show.

I just watched the episode and agree with mostly what you said. JMO but none of the ongoing storylines should of been mentioned. PP’s audience is little kids. Most kids wouldn’t know an Eighty seven year old William Shatner. As to the guys getting punished and the girls not that what helps made the episode funny.
