  1. Don't worry guys, we'll get our big Shamy moments. It may not come until May Sweeps, but I trust the writers to pace things properly. I think sometimes we all get so excited and worked up that we forget that one of the things we love most about this couple's story is the slow, steady build-up and anticipation. This is what the writers have done all along - they throw us a nice, meaty bone halfway through the season, then leave us to chew on it for a while (I know...another metaphor. Couldn't help myself).

I am choosing to expect very little over the next several months and just enjoy the other elements of the show as much as possible (which I do already). But there had better be some good Shamy action in May or I'm gonna go crazy this summer! :p

  2. The classroom scenes might be pre-taped.

Btw, the more I think about it, the more I think the Amy-goes-away-for-the-summer scenario is the perfect scenario to kickstart the development of physical intimacy in the following season. Regardless of whether it's this year or next, I think it would provide the perfect context because they would essentially go back to how they used to be in S4 or prior to that, when they were only Skyping and emailing and texting, but Sheldon WOULD notice what a massive difference physical presence now makes and this would set all sorts of things in motion.

  3. I had a rough day at work today...then I came home, caught up on my favorite BBT threads, read a little Shamy fanfic and ate 4 of my V-Day chocolates (hubby gave them to me early, lol) and I feel much better now. :D

Of course, some Shamy moments in 6.18 would make me positively gleeful!

    I know, I'm greedy.

  4. Hmm...in the promo I watched there was no "hello." It began with Amy saying "Happy Valentine's Day." Weird that there are so many different versions out there.

I definitely feel like the whole tone/feel of their relationship has changed dramatically this season. There is a maturity and seriousness there that I did not detect at all in S4-5. For the first time, Sheldon seems to be thinking about the needs and desires of someone other than himself.

It seriously gives me butterflies just thinking about where this is headed...and what we're going to get to see in the very near future

  5. Even if it's not explicitly stated - as in, Sheldon says the words "I love you" - I think TPTB are planning some sort of declaration in the very near future. Maybe he will acknowledge his feelings in a more understated, Sheldon-y way...he will tell her that he has very strong affectionate feelings for her, or that he sees a long, successful future with her, or that he is afraid of losing her, or something else that skirts around the ILY but still makes it an inevitability. If we get the ILY too soon, it will be difficult to hold off the physical aspect of their relationship...and then they'd have to send them down the aisle or to lamaze classes by series finale lol. Well, maybe that's extreme...:D

Bottom line, I think TPTB are going to pace themselves a bit more than the Fan fiction-lover inside of me secretly hopes for. ;)

  6. I really enjoyed this episode in spite of the unresolved ending. We got a couple of good Shamy nuggets that I view as significant:1) Sheldon stated that their relationship hadn't reached the level of "intimacy" that comes with moving in together (just his use of the "I" word, alone, says something about how serious he is about Amy and how much he has grown up), and 2) he chose not to tell her the truth because he does not want to hurt her feelings! Curious whether others think his comment about the "mystery" in their relationship was sincere or just a device/ploy he used in an attempt to change Amy's mind?

This shows tremendous emotional growth from what Sheldon was in previous seasons - someone who wouldn't hesitate to be brutally honest no matter the potential consequences.

I loved Amy in this, too...she is so freaking adorable! There is a quirky charm to her and a naïveté that is so endearing. She really is the woman-girl to his man-boy, lol.

This may be the proverbial "two steps back" following last week's big step forward, but I thought it was handled well. We know that the feelings are there for both couples; it's just a matter of each pair getting in sync and moving forward at the same pace. Now can't wait for V-Day...:D

  7. Would have been really surprised if it turned out to be another Shamy ep. Though I've gotta say, as much as I like Raj and think he's hilarious, I'm just not invested or terribly interested in his story. I blame the writers for that...he's kind of become a tertiary character. I wish that weren't the case, but there you have it. Anyone else?

Just want to say that, contrary to what others have said in previous posts, the writers were not using this episode to reveal that Kripke is the "smarter" physicist. Sheldon experienced a brief lapse in his usual brilliance and Kripke happened to be on top of his game in that same window of time. I think TPTB wanted to show us that Sheldon can be vulnerable, and what better way to do that then to threaten his greatest strength. For me, at least, the character of Sheldon is as unique and intellectually in a league of his own as he ever was. He is slowly adding new facets of the human experience to his everyday life, and that - IMO - makes him MORE complex, not less. I like him better with a little of that soft underbelly exposed. TPTB are showing us that he is human, after all. ;)

I didn't realize you could 'like' your own post! Very amusing, makes me laugh.

Umm, not sure if you're mocking me or genuinely amused, but I can assure you it was an accident. I'm new to this forum (and forums in general, for that matter); was trying to like the post of the person who responded to my comment, not my own post. ;p

  10. So well said, Spook and Teneal! And I agree that it is going to be hard to top this epi...but I'm sure they will...eventually. Loved vulnerable, serious Sheldon. I don't think I expected the convo between him and Penny to be so sincere and contemplative, but it was all that and more! Just beautiful. Goes to show that the taping reports, no matter how thorough, don't spoil the viewing experience. :)

  11. Oh. My. Gosh.

I was totally spoiled, and yet....it was so much better than I imagined!!! Jim acted the crap out of every scene. It was touching and hilarious at the same time! The hug...the coitus talk..the talk with Penny...just...perfection! I loved every minute! Could hardly contain my glee. :D

I'm trying so hard to play it cool around the hubby but I am officially freaking out, haha! It's quieter than I expected on this thread. Where are you, Sharmy mates?

I can't even analyze this right now. Need to sleep on it.

BBT writers: I love you all! Brilliance. That is all.

  12. I was watching the unaired pilot last night (in which a much more "worldly" Sheldon discusses masturbation and his love of big butts) and it got me thinking....

I'm so torn about Shamy coitus. The fangirl in me says YES! Bring it on! But then there's a little devil (or angel, depending on how you look at it) on my other shoulder reminding me that one of my favorite things about this couple is how incredibly innocent and uncorrupted and NOT worldly-wise they are. I think knowing that Sheldon is open to intimacy makes it really exciting to watch what unfolds as a result of that decision and declaration...but I'm not sure if I'm ready to see it come to fruition. Anyone share my feelings?

Hope I'm not raining on the parade in here! I love the optimism and upbeat attitudes towards the show on this thread. Hope y'all don't kick me out because of this! ;) I really do love the Sharmy!
