  1. While I appreciate all your 'dead directors' suggestions for TBBT(and those scenes from Le Chien Andalou; the guy dragging the priests, pianos with dead donkeys on them, and the ants nest in the hand; have haunted my subconscioushttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrObX0bsg9k) I suggest Joe Cornish, nerdy, the right age and alive. He used to star in The Adam and Joe Show, before he became a director http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wSKPTzwdo4.
  2. I think Elvis's early music, and films showed great promise, but his art seemed crushed by the lucre-machine! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOXCNRk1MYY. I know his later films were panned, but he always had that charisma, and a feel good factor!!!

    Aliens!

I'm amazed by just how many sightings there are, with footage. I still approach them from a sceptical viewpoint, but as you say it's hard to see how this could be faked(it's only the lights at the end I'm not sure about. Do they fly into the distance, or drop to the Earth?). I imagine alot of sightings were made before people carried cameras(like yours and walnutcowboy's), so what's online, is only a small percentage. I can see myself wanting to go to a 'hotspot' to see one myself!
  4. I don't know much about Wittgenstein, except that when he wrote his most important treatise, he lived in a small shack on the side of a Norwegian fjord, and ate nothing but baked beans. I suppose with no input, it forces us to be creative!!! If the next season is slow, we could always try TBBT drinking game to liven things up!!!

    Aliens!

( The Prime Directive dictates that there can be no interference with the internal development of alien civilizations. It has special implications, however, for civilizations that have not yet developed the technology for interstellar spaceflight ("pre-warp"), since no primitive culture can be given or exposed to any information regarding advanced technology or the existence of extraplanetary civilizations, lest this exposure alter the natural development of the civilization.) I suppose Alien life may have something like the Prime Directive, which would explain the many sightings, but lack of contact. Here's the Brazilian report I saw. It's still not totally convincing. I can see how once someone gets involved in these ideas, it may change their lives.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MmhYAwZC58

    Aliens!

As I'm sure you're aware Humans are supposed to have spread out from Africa, to inhabit the whole planet. So logically it seems inevitable, that we will slowly spread out through the galaxies. Hundreds of thousands of people have applied to go to Mars in 2022http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/200000-apply-for-oneway-mission-to-colonise-mars--but-only-four-can-become-the-first-human-settlers-of-the-red-planet-8806144.html

    Aliens!

@walnutcowboy sorry....when I said ignore them, I should have been specific. I agree that those images(post 287) aren't very convincing. Although I do believe that the Earth is a lot older, than you do, based on scientific analysis. Personally I believe both yours, and Funbus's accounts. It sounded from what Funbus said, that the sighting had a profound effect on him! I've been looking at alot of these clips; some are terrestrial craft from strange angles, or shown in reverse time, some maybe weather balloons, some are obviously remote control craft. What is interesting, is that alot of people are reporting sightings over war zones, and even over the Fukishima disaster(have you seen the images of how the radiation is flowing across the Pacific ocean?). Another point which reported sightings throws up is Why? Why are there so many reported sightings? and why are people going to so much trouble to make fakes? I don't know about where you live, but here belief in Christianity is diminishing. Mainly I believe because it appears out of date with modern life. (Strangely though Islam is spreading across the West, churches are being converted to mosques, and new super mosques are being built. Although when I talk to muslims, they tell me how medieval alot of their beliefs and practices are!). So I'm wondering, as people are moving away from Christianity, are they looking for an alternative being out there? Obviously I have no problem with people discussing their beliefs, it's just when it's used as a way of saying, 'this is the law, and nothing else is possible', because we just don't know what the future holds.

    Aliens!

I think we all have complex beliefs and values, dependant upon the culture we grew up in, and also our own personal investigations into different religions and values, (Night Light said something similar, but better!). But I do believe it's best to keep those implicit, rather than explicit. I remember a programme that visited where Jesus grew up, and they claimed to have some texts that were written down by people who had heard him talk, in Aramaic. They also claimed that these texts were nothing like what was being portrayed as his beliefs in the bible. I think those who take modern(or recent comparatively) interpretations, and believe that there is nothing else possible, are deluded. I've heard a number of scientists say that they are able to incorporate scientific discoveries into their general understanding of reality, without it effecting their beliefs, they just have to be flexible, and realise when metaphors have outgrown there use, or have been superceded by scientific ideas. I don't believe this thread is a suitable place to discuss religion. No one knows whats out there, or what our future holds. This thread is about discussing future possibilities. No one can deny that, because no one knows. It is interesting looking at clips of alien craft, or aliens, and trying to work out how they made them. I saw a Brazilian one that showed a ship emerge from a cloud, and the after a bright light, disappear. I prefer to hear real experiences. What did you see, walnutcowboy?

    Aliens!

Just 'negativity', saying No to everything. No one really knows whats out there, but at least some of us are open to possibilities, and the more I read, I think it's highly probable. Catweazle just keeps saying 'No No No No', but it's not based on anything either. I think religion has alot to offer, particularly in terms of morality, but people who claim special knowledge because they believe in god, are likely to start wars. I think he should get his own thread or forum, and stop banging us all on the head. We got his message ten pages ago! He insults our beliefs, our hopes, our scientific rationale.
  12. About fifteen pages! But let's start with; rarely found genius, interesting, sweet, challenging, tall and attractive, funny!

    Aliens!

@funbus It's best to just ignore them! Why these fanatics come on a forum dedicated to TBBT, spreading their negativity, because that's all they've got. They even refuse to believe your personal experience.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJW4rnN6q84 We humans didn't know how much life there was in the oceans, until we developed craft that could help us explore.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDEAYOcUBDU It's deluded to believe that being a believer in a god makes them special, gives one access to all knowledge; what exists in the cosmoshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouexFmPKqZU

    Aliens!

Hey catweazle, I'm not peeved, I'm constructing a metaphorical barrel! I think anyone who isn't restricted by their misinterpretation of metaphors; would think with that many potential planets, and new ones being created all the time, the voraciousness/tenacity of life, our interest in discovering extraterrestrial life, and the amount of time available to us, it's inevitable that we will encounter(or create) life on other planets! It's part of our culture!
  15. Great to have you back annieogly! I think once we enter the alternate reality, anything is possible, maybe it's like the Twilight Zone!(cue clip!!!). Thanks for the ideas for potential directors you two. I've been thinking today(yes I'm that busy!), who would be appropriate. CSI got Tarantino in, because he was a fan. I bet that boosted viewers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b5aW08ivHU
  16. That's what they should do, if it does get 'weary' (Friends 2), bring in some radical directors, hypnotize the cast, explore the boundaries of the sit com, what have they got to lose?
  17. Yes Klaus and Herzog in the Amazon basin, just watch the sparks. I do hear alot of creative people say they need someone to unsettle them, to make them passionate and vital.

    Aliens!

Yes I think we got catweazle's opinion, ten pages ago! Closed minds, what can you do! Considering the name TBBT, and the work they do, maybe catweazle has got wrong thread and forum. To me it's like being on a boat looking for a new land. You need everyone to be positive and optimistic. Can we put him in a barrel with his bible, and throw him overboard?
  19. Yes I just remember you saying that seeing the actors interact, confusing! I thought that clip showed how close they are as a group, when not in character, and also of course that kaley's favourite scene was; Penny with Sheldon. I have heard actors say before that they felt a character was taking them over. I like hearing those stories of directors who manipulate their actors to get the best from them; not telling them when the horror is going to start, etc. Not sure I've seen Heart of Glass, but love Wings of Desire and Fitzcarraldo. Obligatory picture time!!

    Aliens!

Looking around on net it's great to see many scientists creating novel ways of finding inhabitable planets. One is even looking a photos of planets to see if he can see craft passing in front. Also good to see as governments restrict funds, private sponsors have helped. Science is the way forward for Humanity!http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/jul/30/alien-life-search-nasa-kepler

    Greedy Actors?

Yes they should make as much as they can, not only for their art, lack of freedom, fame tax, etc, but because this programme has made so much money, from around the world. Merchandising makes alot of money. I saw a Sheldon cut out, looking at me through a window on wednesday.
  22. @Count Wally, I think the actors know which is their real life and which is fiction, but because we see them in character 99% of time, the fictional seems like the real. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z-J0aarQVA

    Aliens!

I think we as a species are changing. The fact that Russia and USA worked together over sarin use in Syria. I see moral teaching as part of that development, a stage humans as a species, go through. Being able to accept diversity, live peacefully, is part of that development. Hopefully with technology advancing geometrically, there will be a point where those two meet, and we can explore what is out there! I'm not sure why christians, or any other faith, care if there is life elsewhere. A religion which doesn't allow new ways of thinking, is stuck in the past!

    Aliens!

That's what I meant by reaching a level of intelligence and unity. Applies to both human or alien species. I think it would require the combined effort of a planet, and to work together they would have to be able to live in peace(ie: space travellers would be peaceful and cooperative). A level we don't seem close to. It's ironic that the concept of One God was supposed to unify. Even when humans went into space they had to make it competetive. http://www.space.com/22777-voyager-1-records-sounds-from-interstellar-space-video.html
