  1. I am sure this has been asked before a million times.    Do you think the writers actually read this stuff we write?     They must know what the fans want.

Maybe not here, but S8 was definitely the "fanfiction-like" season. We had the Prom, the ILY, the quirky arrogant couple and even the break-up seemed to be extracted directly from fanfiction (except that in fanfiction, It almost always ends up M rated...). And except the completly WTF finale, I enjoyed the previous season wholeheartedly. One of the best with S5.

  2.

A possibility I can see is that maybe this break up will bring Amy's mother into an episode. She sets a reluctant Amy up with someone who, on paper, is apparently perfect, and does all the 'normal' stuff on the date, and she hates it. That gets her thinking about what she really wants, and realises that Sheldon is the only one who can give her that.

Ohhh, actually this I could be on board with. Mrs Fowler going "Well, now that you're single again you have to comply with your yearly date obligation. Chop chop, Amy!". Although I don't know if Amy now would be so easily pushed by her mother as she was in the past... But that would be quite funny. Maybe her mom sets her up on a date and at the end of the evening she runs back to Los Robles to get away, even just to hang with Penny and vent and (assuming by this stage she and Sheldon are on somewhat good terms), sees Sheldon doing one of his nerdy things like playing with his train sets and just melts inside.

OH Oh OH, I think, yes yes yes that's a good way to get out from this dangerous situation !

    Potential Saving Scenario :

After a few failed attempts to get her back, Sheldon enters in a depression-like state and tells Amy that he does not understand what's happening but he'll stop annoying her if It's what makes her happy. Then like you two said, the mother introduces her a man with the romance qualities she wanted from Sheldon, turns out she hates it. Then return and see Sheldon doing his nerdy stuff with his sad little puppy face. She just melts inside and go run and hug him (Omc). Then they have a good talk. Amy understands what was her problem (concerning her biased desires) and explains to Sheldon why she broke up with him (he's way of insulting and ignoring her), Sheldon understands (because I'm sure he can't figure this out by himself, and we know Amy explains him things better than anyone else). Then end of story, happy Shamy is back, they start a science project together then #coitusiscoming. OMC perfect !!!

Ok I feel much better, I don't know why.

  3. MMmm... I think I'm in the middle between the two main opinions on this thread.

Positive side :The break up is a chance to solve the last few things that bothers me in this relationship including :

    - Amy always being the pusher.

    - Sheldon being rude with Amy and taking her for granted.

    - A chance to see Sheldon doing everything possible to get her back and showing us all, definitely, that he can't live without her and loves her deeply because there is no other one. Well, just a chance to see how much they are made for each other.

    - A chance to see Amy alone, as a whole character, without Sheldon. To explore her character more deeply , her backstory, thoughts, weakness and strength aswell. To be simple : MORE Amy on the show.

    Negative side :

    - WTF ??? Why a break up ? and most of all why NOW ? This break up isn't as logical as I would like it to be...

    - Why do they have to make the Shamy go to the normal romance pattern ? Why ? Were they not unique ? Is growth means to be like other people ? Why can't they solve their problems in their unique, weird, unusal Shamy way ? I don't know what the writers have in mind but I really don't like the message here...

    - If they begin to date other people, It's simple, I'm done. No matter for what purpose. I'll loose this OTP and burn it with fire. That's it. Period.

This plot is very dangerous, I just pray now for things to balance in the positive side... We'll see.

  4. Sheldon is almost ready, that's for sure. The whole season 7 was there for that and the final touch, the train trip, has at least begun to solve a big part of his social/commitment issues. Now It's Amy's turn, maybe her time off will be kind of her "train trip". like we said, she needs to figure out what's the difference between her desire and the reality of the situation with Sheldon and, most of all, to which degree she's ready to accept that and compromise to make her AND her partner happy.

As for the premiere, I'd like to see Sheldon thinking about what was wrong, not really findind, and chasing Amy all around because he cannot simply stay like that with hopefully a lot of funny scenes where he ends up ridiculously. And all of that while Amy is trying to process what I just wrote above.

  5. I agree with a lot of people here but here is what's in my head :

    Season 8 final : "almost-sex" and/or "sharing a bed"

    Season 9 : love making

Season 9 to Season 10 : Shamy weird/whimsically inventive sex life being a running joke with all the gang being like  "WTF ?! yayk !"

Season 10* : marriage ? although I must confess that one of the reason I want this to happen is the comment Amy made in season six about her 4 years plan.. you know, just for the fun ! But I'm in love with their relationship agreement (which is as powerful as a marriage document if not more...don't forget the notary stamp) so let it be.

Whatever the writers plan to do for the next seasons, I (almost) don't care. Imo the ILY solved the biggest problem in their relationship: Sheldon's denial state and fear of change and Amy's misconception of love and romance. I'm confident for the rest and I'm patiently waiting for the goodies. I remember last season when poeple had doubts about Sheldon really being in love with Amy and I was like " damnit, of course he is !!" and here we are !!! Thanks writers, even if you almost fooled us.

edit* : lol , I wrote marriage for season 9 instead of 10... I'm impatient

  6. I don't know wowbagger, I think Sheldon knew he is in love with her for a while. Like he said in S6.23 " What we have is very intimate " Seems like he's very aware of his feelings for her. Honestly, I was ready for an ILY since then. I think Sheldon's biggest problem back then was the fear of change and the hypocrisy of his situation rather than the feel of being in love. He maybe feared that if he tells her that, indeed, he loves her then maybe she'll push him even more toward sex (which he wasn't ready for, even if he was interested) From the moment she made it clear that she's not putting pressure anymore, he just found a good occasion and it came out naturally. Idk, imo, it just proves us that the whole problem was not the admission of his feeling but the pressure for sex and by extension , any other kind of change. And It seems like he resolved the problem ( dealing with changes etc... ) during his trip. So yes, I'm not suprised by this ILY. Everything was settled for it and here it is, right in time.
