  1. Hi everyone, I was a little bored stuck at home today, and have had a bit of a writing bug since starting my first fic, so decided to write out this quick one shot. It's related to my in-progress chapter story (The Friendship Reunification), and focuses on the back-story behind Leonard and Penny's first child. It also includes little snippets of Amy and Sheldon post-breakup and Amy's move to Harvard. It's only my second ever fic, and my first one-shot, so I hope it's okay! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11450109/1/Three-Hearts Ashley
  2. I was just thinking about back in early season 5 (was it?) when Leonard was thinking about cheating on Priya with Alice and Penny was basically telling Leonard to go for it, "...then sleep with Alice and lie to Priya..." or whatever she said. Was anyone else bothered by that? Why the HELL would she suggest to a friend to cheat on their lover? Quite frankly, I feel that came back to bite her in the ass when Leonard kissed that girl on the ship.
  3. Sheldon doesn't seem to hold Penny to the same intellectual standard as Leonard does. Sheldon also seems to blame a person for spreading a lie rather than the person who is going to fall for it. Both Sheldon and Leonard have dealt with penny and the psychic thing. However Sheldon didn't seem to take out his disbelief on penny he took it out on the Psychic basically saying "Shes a dishonest con-artist that is misleading people in order to swindle them out of their money"(Im paraphrasing). He seemed to mostly take it out on the psychic reader. Where when Leonard heard it he took it out on Penny mostly. Now Sheldon did insult Penny in this episode a few times but it was about different things and he didn't take to heart as much as Leonard did. Sheldon just thought it was kind of silly. Leonard for some reason took Penny's ignorance as insult to his intellectual integrity. Now Sheldon seems to have simply accepted Penny is not as smart as them. Leonard seems to expect more from her despite this fact. Sheldon also seems surprised when Bernadette knows what hes talking about. As though he didn't expect her to have any idea what he was talking about.
  4. She only went out with him a few times but it wasn't the dating just a few dates. Does that make this an official ship? or no?
  5. I noticed something. When Leonard went out with Amy since Sheldon wouldn't when Leonard said he had a good time Sheldon Got the impression Leonard was interested in her and got upset with him for it. However when Amy kisses Penny and is drunk Sheldon doesn't seem to really care at all.
  6. There probably should be a separate thread for spoilers and the discussion thereof.
  7. Alright so i thought i'd start off the Leonard and Penny thread now that the Season 7 part of the forum is up and running! Yeah, so, how cute are these two? Yeah, totally.
  8. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9155828/3/ I started writing this ages ago, it was a one-shot, but I thought I'd make a little collection of L&P baby stories - smart, beautiful, and very real indeed!
  9. Considering the rollercoaster ride of the Leonard and Penny relationship, would you lose faith in the show if the writers decided to break them up again? I only write this because in other shows of this style, the two people you hope to get together in the end do not always end up as such, i.e. "The Wonder Years". So that being considered, what would be your reaction?
  10. The show has hinted a few times that Amy is actually very pretty, wouldn't it be cool if just once Penny gave Amy a make over, just to see the guys reaction?
  11. I need any help anyone could provide! My wife saw a recent episode of TBBT and spotted a pair of shoes, that she must have. In fact, that's all she asked for as a birthday present. I managed to find an image of the shoes at this URL. Can anyone tell me anything about the shoes? Please? http://tbbt-obsessed.tumblr.com/post/6909332993/bialik-has-science-covered-big-bang-actress-has-ph
  12. Over the last two years, I had noticed a change in popularity of the characters, particularly Sheldon. There was a time, when he could do no wrong but now there seems to be complaints. This newer Sheldon is not quite as popular. And since some people want proof if you voice an opinion now, I have attempted to get what little I can. There is a poll on the main site which asks casual visitors (you don't have to be a member) who their favourite character is. Lucky for me, the infamous Tripper archived the old poll, when he updated the site. Which presents an opportunity to compare old and new statistics. Of course, the new poll doesn't have as many votes at 28,698 to 90,031, but the percentages are what counts. The old poll was archived in Sept 2012. The new poll was started from then. I rounded the figures. Sheldon from 66% to 49% (26% down) Penny from 12% to 20% (40% up) Leonard from 10% to 16% (38% up) Raj from 6% to 5% (17% down) Howard from 6% to 4% (33% down) Amy coming in at 4% (new) Bernadette coming in a 2% (new) Stuart coming in at 1% (new) The old poll did not include the new characters but as they are only taking up 7% of the vote, this doesn't account for the big shifts. Penny's popularity as favourite character has gone up the most, with 19.5% of the vote, rounded up to 20%. Closely followed by Leonard. Sheldon, Howard and Raj have taken the biggest hits. Sheldon is still the most popular at 49% but he used to hold a massive 66% of the vote. So yes, I was right in sensing a drop. I will compare this again next year and see how these figures are moving. Another interesting thing to note (which I suspected) was the even bigger drop, in those who chose Howard as their favourite. The polls : http://the-big-bang-theory.com/polls/viewpoll/11/Who-is-your-favorite-character/archive/ http://the-big-bang-theory.com/polls/viewpoll/43/Who-is-your-favorite-character/
  13. I'd like to see Penny work to become a chef. She could still work at the restaurant the boys go to, but her role there changes. I think it would be great to see experiments that happen in the kitchen, the boys add their 'cooking knowledge' and try to 'help' Penny. There could be great episodes and it would add new life to the show.
  14. I have noticed that from season 1 forward that the show has portrayed Penny as a problem drinker. It has been said that in the original pilot that the Penny character was supposed to be very darker, and that they decided to go with a more cheerful outlook for the character. I wonder if this has changed, the writers seem to be focusing on the Penny character as having less and less control: for instance, drinking alone, blacking out and not remembering what happened the night before as when she woke up with Raj, and other classic examples of alcoholism. Does anyone else see this as becoming a major trait for the character and do you think this will become addressed in the show in a storyline?
  15. http://www.thebigbangtheoryhq.com/ Alright lads and laddesses, before the sound of eye-rolling becomes deafening, we have the excellent Tripper’s blessing to announce this, so don’t go querulously thumbing through the rule-book. We have laboured long and hard, and perhaps somewhat insanely, to create a celebratory, and mildly psychedelic and twitch-inducing website in honour of Sheldon and Penny. This means the characters individually, and all permutations of their friendship, both Canon and Hypothetical. Thus the Platonic, Philosophical, and Romantic Shenny. If the latter is not your cup of bovril, then merely ignore these sections, they are clearly marked. Wandering around the site, you’re not going to accidentally stumble upon a vaseline-lensed manip of S and P doing “the dance with no pants”, as we think manips are idiotic, so you’re safe. The site itself is a thing of high beauty, if I do say myself. As I didn’t design the damn thing, only wrote some wordy bits, I can get away with spruiking the LOOK of it without blowing my own trumpet. Please do go and have a gander or butchers at it. We meant it to be entertaining. Obviously there is a heavy bias in favour of describing Sheldon and Penny scenes, and a distinct absence of any other characters, so if you don’t “dig” either of them, then perhaps give it a miss. Here it is; http://www.thebigbangtheoryhq.com Later we shall be including sections on various minor or guest characters, such as Wil Wheaton, Mary Cooper, and the Existential Angst of Stuart Bloom, but for now we are focusing on our two favourites, Mantis-Boy and the Blond Monkey. There is also a forum section for generally cranky bastards to congregate and amuse themselves. As it was created expressly for Nostalgics, Sheldon Purists and Shennys of all variations, and is entirely populated by them, if these sort of characters generally irritate or antagonise you, then again, perhaps give that section a miss. We will not be held responsible for the opinions expressed in these areas. Except for our own opinions of course. Obviously. The Forum is essentially irrelevant to the site, but as we’ve received some queries on the matter, we’ll explain a few things; We’ve set it to Private Membership because there’s a certain portion of the Internet that likes to wander in to such places, say “bum”, then wander out again. As we don’t have a sophisticated 3-post-approval moderation system, a brief enquiry letter, or recommendation from another human that you’re not a mouth-breathing troglodyte, is about the best we can come up with. Which brings me to a quandary we have. Some very pleasant and charming “Canon Shippers” have recently asked to join the HQ forum. In theory we are not adverse to this in the slightest. The more the merrier. Or not. Because in practise, however, we fail to see how this cannot but end in the sort of disagreement and unpleasantness that occasionally flairs up on this very forum, which would nullify the purpose of creating it. We don’t want war, we want to discuss the show, but in our own fashion. Nostalgics, Sheldonites and Shennys are all unhappy with the current direction of the show, and though their reasons are varied, they largely centre around unhappiness with the canon relationships, and a perceived destruction of their favourite characters because of them. A canon fan would doubtless disagree, and would feel about as comfortable on an Anti-Forum as a Nostalgic or Romantic Shenny feels on regular ones. So AT THE PRESENT TIME we don’t feel it advisable to sign up unless you classify yourself amongst the following categories; Nostalgics (fans of Seasons 1-4), Sheldonites/Sheldon Purists (fans of Vintage Sheldon and/or desirous that he remain romantically unattached), Romantic Shennys (advocates of a romantic relationship between S/P, either within Canon, or within a hypothetical parallel universe), Peldons/Platonic Shennys (values the comedic friendship of Sheldon and Penny OVER any other relationship on the show) Shelnards and Alternative Shippers of all varieties. This is not elitism, but in fact a collection of exiles from other forums. We welcome all who are not welcome elsewhere. Unless you’re not welcome elsewhere because you’re a pain in the proverbials. If you are some sort of bastardised hybrid of several categories, like most humans are, or exist in a unique category of your own, then we’ll leave it up to your judgement. For everybody else, of course, there is Tripper's wonderful creation, right here. Again, the forum part is irrelevant to the website. So all this rabbiting on I've been doing about Nostalgics and Koothranardowitzes is also irrelevant to the website, which we HOPE everyone will find amusing. Here and there anyway. Or just there, even. The Sheldon-Centric Episode Pages are a good place to start. They're wonderfully designed and largely Shenny-free, if the concept makes you twitch. They're also marvellously well-written (cough) by a couple of this forum's regulars (COUGH). Lastly, if you are violently antagonistic to any and all variations of S/P, rationality would suggest you don't look at the site, and civility would suggest you don't comment if you do. There's no point being a massive Dickensian about people being passionate about the same damn thing you're passionate about, just from a different perspective. It also makes you look like a tit. Live long and Prosper (if you must), Wally on behalf of HQ
  16. I just put this under spoilers. I wasn't sure if it counted. I Added the Spoilers prefix this time. I loved watching a just PennyXSheldon episode. These two characters are so cute together. I think I would like to see more Shenny focused episodes even if its not PennyXSheldon dating. They really compliment each others personalities. Also noticed Amy pointed out the connection Penny and Sheldon share. I love what sheldon told the psychic. "Im clearly an annoying person and have problems with both genders".
  17. I noticed something. Sheldon ends up attracting women without really trying and generally he doesn't want to do anything with them. When Howard and Raj and Leonard try to get women they are not always able to do so.
  18. This has been puzzling me for a while, ever since I became involved with this fandom, I always wondered, does it have a name? what to we call ourselves as a group or individual fans? I always Imagined us being called "Bazinga Geeks" or "Bazinga Nerds" or "Sheldon Cooper's C-men" what kind of name are we known as? It would be fun Wouldn't it!
  19. Imagine this scenario: Bernadette Likes Raj (Supposition) Raj Likes Bernadette (He confessed this in Season 5) Raj Likes Howard (He does, many of his actions and statements prove it) Howard Likes Raj (He does, his actions prove it but he isn't able to show) Bernadette Likes Howard (She obviously does, he's her husband) Howard Likes Bernadette (He obviously does, she's his wife) This would be REALLY messed up, the three of them fighting for each other with multiple emotions What say?
  20. Who, according to you, would be the ideal mate for Raj? (Other than Siri and Wolowitz )
  21. First off let me just say that I love this show. It's my favorite show of all time. The plot lines are riveting, the characters are so developed, the lines are hilarious and genuine and the acting is amazing. I never get tired of watching TBBT. So I just joined this site today and this is my first post, so I apologize if someone else has already brought this up. I was watching clips from the show on youtube today and it occurred to me that Penny might be the most important character on the show. She shows up in the apartment building and things start to change. Without her, the guys would just continue to stay in the apartment playing video games and going to the comic book shop. Every growth the characters have made has been because of their interactions with Penny. Howard was always being creepy and sexist when trying to talk to women. He was always making sexual comments to Penny until one day she had enough and told him off. It crushed him to be called creepy and pathetic but it resonated with him. If Penny never got angry at him, he would have never changed. Things would never have worked out with him and Bernadette if he treated her like he treated Penny in the beginning. Penny is a strong enough character to ignore it and finally put him in his place and still be friends with him afterwards. Leonard and Penny's relationship was important as well because of Leonard being a doormat for women. He had to grow a lot as a person in order to have a serious relationship with Pria, even if it didn't work out. Penny doesn't always treat him the best but he has been starting to stand up for himself a lot and demand better treatment in his relationships with women. I don't think it works out with them because the spark just isn't there for Penny, but they will remain close friends. I really love the dynamic between Sheldon and Penny. There always seems to be a little chemistry between the characters. I think it's because Penny is the first person to stand up to Sheldon. He always walked all over the other guys whereas she stood up to him and gave him crap right back. She holds her ground with him even if they aren't intellectual equals so I think he respects her for that. I know a lot of people were wanting them to get together before Amy came along (and some still do) but I don't think they should. They just don't have enough in common. Penny and Sheldon have a special relationship. She gets him to open up to his emotional side like no one else really can. He gets over his aversion to human contact (somewhat) because of her. He shares things with her that he can't talk about to the other characters. He can be scared, hurt, and vulnerable with her. He becomes more human because of her. Without Penny, things would not work out with him and Amy. He's meant to be with Amy, but he'll always have a special place in his heart for Penny. I think the next big storyline will involve Penny helping Raj to get over his fear of talking with women so he can start to have adult relationships but I don't think she'll end up with Raj or Leonard long term. I don't want this show to end because it's brilliant but it will someday. I was trying to think of how it could end the best. I think a fitting endning would be that it's a few years down the road. Raj, Howard, Leonard, and Sheldon are all hanging out in the apartment with their wives/ girlfriends. They are all talking, joking, and laughing and having fun together. Penny opens the door and pauses in the doorway unnoticed. The camera zooms in to a close up of each couple for a second before moving onto the next couple. They are all smiling and in love. She still hasn't been noticed by anyone. She smiles to herself and quietly closes the door. In the hallway she pauses for just a second. She knows that she will always love them, but that she can't be a part of their lives anymore. She wipes away a tear, smiles, whispers "goodbye", and walks down the stairs. The end. I'd love to hear comments. I know my proposed ending is sad, but even though the show is a comedy, I don't think doing a funny ending would be doing the show justice after all that has happened. This is my favorite show and just pray the writers give it a great ending when the time does come to end the show.
  22. What does Sheldon Cooper think about Rajesh Koothrappali and Bernadette Rostenkowski in terms of intelligence? I remember Sheldon noticing that Bernadette understood what he did (his work), but does that mean he thinks she's smart? With Raj talking more freely, giving our Shelly more to judge him about, I need to know, was this addressed in an episode? (Does anybody know/Has anybody watched an episode where S's opinion of Raj's intelligence was addressed?)
  23. Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've been a fan of Big Bang Theory for years but I never thought about finding a fansite. The most I did was write my fanfiction and post it on FFDN. Unfortunately, FFDN has been overrun with Shenny stories and no one really wants to read about the true couple, Leonard and Penny. I want to get my story out there and get feedback, but it's hard when the only place I can post my story is in a crowd of Shenny-Shippers who mostly portray Leonard as crude and undesirable, which, if those stories are read enough, completely turn the reader off to any idea of Leonard/Penny. I hoped I could advertise my story here to get more unbiased reviews and feedback. The link is here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7589733/1/Pulchritudinous-Wreckage The story starts out dark with Penny being sexually assaulted (nothing too graphic, just what she gives in the police report), and Leonard takes it upon himself to help her get better. Things get fluffy, things get sad, I have a few funny discussions thrown in (which I've been told in my FFDN reviews are spot-on with the characters). It's in the works, only 12 chapters, but I have been regularly updating two to three times a week. I would really appreciate people with an open mind giving it a try. It's not super long chapters, but it doesn't need to be because it's fanfiction. If I wanted to write a novel, it would be different. In any case, my updates are never less than 2,000 words. So please, give it a try.
  24. Hi! I started writing my first fan fiction. I hope you like it! Feel free to give criticism as I want to improve. https://www.wattpad.com/430424804-the-romantic-distribution-lenny-chapter-1-dawn
