A discussion thread for The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons.

As BBT is usually very careful making sure things referenced on the show are accurate, especially when said by Sheldon, I wanted to start this thread for anyone who can find any inconsistencies or outright errors with anything Sheldon (or any other character) says. Ill start off with an example I discovered the other day. In S07E02 "The Boyfriend Complexity" Sheldon suggests to Penny that “with your Italian pizza and my Chinese noodles we could play Marco Polo." Marco Polo died in 1324. In S04E09 "The Deception Verification" while arguing with the pizza delivery man about walking up the stairs he states that “pizza dates back to the 16th century”. Therefore Marco Polo had already been dead for some 200 years before pizza was invented. I am not trying to poke holes in or in any way diminish the show. I love BBT and Sheldon is my favourite character, I consider this an homage to Dr Cooper as I'm sure this is the kind of thing he would be correcting in his own beautifully condescending way.

We have laboured long and hard, and perhaps somewhat insanely, to create a celebratory, and mildly psychedelic and twitch-inducing website in honour of Sheldon and Penny. This means the characters individually, and all permutations of their friendship, both Canon and Hypothetical. Thus the Platonic, Philosophical, and Romantic Shenny. If the latter is not your cup of bovril, then merely ignore these sections, they are clearly marked. Wandering around the site, you’re not going to accidentally stumble upon a vaseline-lensed manip of S and P doing “the dance with no pants”, as we think manips are idiotic, so you’re safe. The site itself is a thing of high beauty, if I do say myself. As I didn’t design the damn thing, only wrote some wordy bits, I can get away with spruiking the LOOK of it without blowing my own trumpet. Please do go and have a gander or butchers at it. We meant it to be entertaining. Obviously there is a heavy bias in favour of describing Sheldon and Penny scenes, and a distinct absence of any other characters, so if you don’t “dig” either of them, then perhaps give it a miss. There is also a forum section for generally cranky bastards to congregate and amuse themselves. As it was created expressly for Nostalgics, Sheldon Purists and Shennys of all variations, and is entirely populated by them, if these sort of characters generally irritate or antagonise you, then again, perhaps give that section a miss. We will not be held responsible for the opinions expressed in these areas. Except for our own opinions of course. Obviously. The Forum is essentially irrelevant to the site, but as we’ve received some queries on the matter, we’ll explain a few things; We’ve set it to Private Membership because there’s a certain portion of the Internet that likes to wander in to such places, say “bum”, then wander out again. As we don’t have a sophisticated 3-post-approval moderation system, a brief enquiry letter, or recommendation from another human that you’re not a mouth-breathing troglodyte, is about the best we can come up with. Which brings me to a quandary we have. Some very pleasant and charming “Canon Shippers” have recently asked to join the HQ forum. In theory we are not adverse to this in the slightest. The more the merrier. Or not. Because in practise, however, we fail to see how this cannot but end in the sort of disagreement and unpleasantness that occasionally flairs up on this very forum, which would nullify the purpose of creating it. We don’t want war, we want to discuss the show, but in our own fashion. Nostalgics, Sheldonites and Shennys are all unhappy with the current direction of the show, and though their reasons are varied, they largely centre around unhappiness with the canon relationships, and a perceived destruction of their favourite characters because of them. A canon fan would doubtless disagree, and would feel about as comfortable on an Anti-Forum as a Nostalgic or Romantic Shenny feels on regular ones. So AT THE PRESENT TIME we don’t feel it advisable to sign up unless you classify yourself amongst the following categories; Nostalgics (fans of Seasons 1-4), Sheldonites/Sheldon Purists (fans of Vintage Sheldon and/or desirous that he remain romantically unattached), Romantic Shennys (advocates of a romantic relationship between S/P, either within Canon, or within a hypothetical parallel universe), Peldons/Platonic Shennys (values the comedic friendship of Sheldon and Penny OVER any other relationship on the show) Shelnards and Alternative Shippers of all varieties. This is not elitism, but in fact a collection of exiles from other forums. We welcome all who are not welcome elsewhere. Unless you’re not welcome elsewhere because you’re a pain in the proverbials. If you are some sort of bastardised hybrid of several categories, like most humans are, or exist in a unique category of your own, then we’ll leave it up to your judgement. For everybody else, of course, there is Tripper's wonderful creation, right here. Again, the forum part is irrelevant to the website. So all this rabbiting on I've been doing about Nostalgics and Koothranardowitzes is also irrelevant to the website, which we HOPE everyone will find amusing. Here and there anyway. Or just there, even. The Sheldon-Centric Episode Pages are a good place to start. They're wonderfully designed and largely Shenny-free, if the concept makes you twitch. They're also marvellously well-written (cough) by a couple of this forum's regulars (COUGH). Lastly, if you are violently antagonistic to any and all variations of S/P, rationality would suggest you don't look at the site, and civility would suggest you don't comment if you do. There's no point being a massive Dickensian about people being passionate about the same damn thing you're passionate about, just from a different perspective. It also makes you look like a tit. It's actually a cross-over fic between BBT and one of my all-time favorite video games. I'm just so in love with the story and it fits so well in the BBT universe that I had to do a crossover. This is just a silly question I was thinking about while driving to work this morning. So a lot of us fan fic authors have written a scene with Shamy's "first time". Now that their first time happened on screen (which I thought was very tender, sweet and very them), I was wondering did you see any coincidences between what you wrote, and Shamy's actual first time on screen? In my completed fics, I only had them have sex in one of them - the Fight Aftermath. But I had a few snippets which I thought were a bit similar to the show. From Fight Aftermath (just before coitus): <snip> Sheldon returned to the bedroom in a plain white t-shirt and his pyjama bottoms. He turned off the lights to his room and turned on his bedside lamp. He quickly got into bed and looked over at Amy. Her face was flushed red, her arms were full of goose bumps. Her hands were slightly shaking. “Amy what wrong?” he asked concerned. <snip> Got the white t-shirt, and Amy with goosebumps because she was nervous! Check! <snip> “To get back to our conversation, I guess even though I visualize stuff, I’m still scared that I am going to screw up, and I hate being anything less than perfect. " <snip> Well Sheldon told his fears to Amy, while in the show, he was telling Professor Proton. But he was worried about screwing up also. (half check?) <snip> Amy looked at Sheldon and brushed a stray hair off his forehead. “Sheldon, I’m really scared too, I mean really scared. I practically had a full blown panic attack after our strip counterfactuals game the other night.” Sheldon looked surprised. “Really? You’ve been the one pushing us to be more intimate. I thought that you were ok with everything.” “I do want to be more intimate, but you have to remember, that this is so new for me too. I’ve never done any of this before either. " <snip> Amy telling Sheldon her fears of the "unknown". Check! Well, then my fic diverges, as they start talking a bit of Star Trek and then it's off to the races. <snip> “When I asked you to stay over tonight, I wanted to do exactly this. I wanted to hold you in my arms all night. To kiss you. To see you smile. That is what I wanted.” Sheldon said as he caressed Amy’s neck. “That’s what I want too. I want to fall asleep in your arms, wake up in your arms and stare into those beautiful blue eyes of yours. Let’s make it so.” Amy said. “Captain Picard!…Good Lord woman, you drive me wild. Don’t get me thinking about Star Trek….I’m having enough trouble with fantasies…” “Are you going to boldly go where no man has gone before?” Amy laughed. “Stop it!” Sheldon grabbed her pillow and whacked her with it. They both burst out laughing. “Come here” He pulled Amy towards him and wrapped his arms around her. He looked at her intently, and then reached over and turned off the lamp. “Resistance is futile, Amy, resistance is futile.” He softly placed his lips and hers, which melted into a passionate kiss. “Yes it is, Dr. Cooper, yes is it….” <snip> I bet a lot of us have accidently touched on scenes that were very similar to the real deal. Since we probably are going to get many good & bad moments, I want to continue this thread during season 8. My feelings about the Shamy relationship at the moment, are captured perfectly in this song. I had wanted to post this on the 24th, the actual anniversary of their first meeting, but that didn't work out, so I’m posting it on my fiftieth birthday instead. First off let me just say that I love this show. It's my favorite show of all time. The plot lines are riveting, the characters are so developed, the lines are hilarious and genuine and the acting is amazing. I never get tired of watching TBBT. So I just joined this site today and this is my first post, so I apologize if someone else has already brought this up. I was watching clips from the show on youtube today and it occurred to me that Penny might be the most important character on the show. She shows up in the apartment building and things start to change. Without her, the guys would just continue to stay in the apartment playing video games and going to the comic book shop. Every growth the characters have made has been because of their interactions with Penny. Howard was always being creepy and sexist when trying to talk to women. He was always making sexual comments to Penny until one day she had enough and told him off. It crushed him to be called creepy and pathetic but it resonated with him. If Penny never got angry at him, he would have never changed. Things would never have worked out with him and Bernadette if he treated her like he treated Penny in the beginning. Penny is a strong enough character to ignore it and finally put him in his place and still be friends with him afterwards. Leonard and Penny's relationship was important as well because of Leonard being a doormat for women. He had to grow a lot as a person in order to have a serious relationship with Pria, even if it didn't work out. Penny doesn't always treat him the best but he has been starting to stand up for himself a lot and demand better treatment in his relationships with women. I don't think it works out with them because the spark just isn't there for Penny, but they will remain close friends. I really love the dynamic between Sheldon and Penny. There always seems to be a little chemistry between the characters. I think it's because Penny is the first person to stand up to Sheldon. He always walked all over the other guys whereas she stood up to him and gave him crap right back. She holds her ground with him even if they aren't intellectual equals so I think he respects her for that. I know a lot of people were wanting them to get together before Amy came along (and some still do) but I don't think they should. They just don't have enough in common. Penny and Sheldon have a special relationship. She gets him to open up to his emotional side like no one else really can. He gets over his aversion to human contact (somewhat) because of her. He shares things with her that he can't talk about to the other characters. He can be scared, hurt, and vulnerable with her. He becomes more human because of her. Without Penny, things would not work out with him and Amy. He's meant to be with Amy, but he'll always have a special place in his heart for Penny. I think the next big storyline will involve Penny helping Raj to get over his fear of talking with women so he can start to have adult relationships but I don't think she'll end up with Raj or Leonard long term. I don't want this show to end because it's brilliant but it will someday. I was trying to think of how it could end the best. I think a fitting endning would be that it's a few years down the road. Raj, Howard, Leonard, and Sheldon are all hanging out in the apartment with their wives/ girlfriends. They are all talking, joking, and laughing and having fun together. Penny opens the door and pauses in the doorway unnoticed. The camera zooms in to a close up of each couple for a second before moving onto the next couple. They are all smiling and in love. She still hasn't been noticed by anyone. She smiles to herself and quietly closes the door. In the hallway she pauses for just a second. She knows that she will always love them, but that she can't be a part of their lives anymore. She wipes away a tear, smiles, whispers "goodbye", and walks down the stairs. The end. I'd love to hear comments. I know my proposed ending is sad, but even though the show is a comedy, I don't think doing a funny ending would be doing the show justice after all that has happened. This is my favorite show and just pray the writers give it a great ending when the time does come to end the show.

I noticed something. Sheldon ends up attracting women without really trying and generally he doesn't want to do anything with them. When Howard and Raj and Leonard try to get women they are not always able to do so.

This has been puzzling me for a while, ever since I became involved with this fandom, I always wondered, does it have a name? what to we call ourselves as a group or individual fans? I always Imagined us being called "Bazinga Geeks" or "Bazinga Nerds" or "Sheldon Cooper's C-men" what kind of name are we known as? It would be fun Wouldn't it!

Much like there are Shamy moments that I like to re-watch again and again, there are Shamy fanfic moments that I like to re-read again and again. My favorite Shamy fanfic moments in no particular order. All the credit goes to the amazing authors. All these stories are incredibly good, and you should take the time to read them all. These are moments that stuck with me and I will sometimes go back and re-read these random moments. Let me know if you have any favorite Shamy fanfic moments that you like to read again and again. 1) The Vegas Interpretation by Sheps888 End of chapter 8, It is revealed that Amy is Sheldon’s biggest turn on Why I like to read it: I love that they play Jeopardy together (my favorite game show) and I love the tie breaker game. Sheldon knows so much about Amy and then the end is just so perfect. It’s one of the first fanfic things I ever read and it turned me into a Shamy fanfic fanatic. 2) The Vegas Interpretation by Sheps888 Chapter 20, Sheldon and Amy are making out on his bed. Why I like to read it: It’s incredibly sweet to me and I love that they take their time making out instead of getting right into coitus. I also love when Amy talks about Sheldon and her whole speech that ends with “That’s the most amazing love story I could ever hope to be a part of”. 3) The Vegas Interpretation by Sheps888 Chapter 22, Amy realizes the papers under his bed are hers. Why I like to read it: To me I can feel Amy’s pain as she opens up the safe and I get such an amazing aww moment when she realizes they are hers. It’s probably the one I re-read the most. It was a perfect way to end the story. 4) The Mendacity Revelation by Misophonia Chapter 16: You Can’t Handle the Truth, Sheldon tells Amy why he kissed her, Why I like to read it: I love the way the author describes the feelings Sheldon had to get him to kiss her. “I kissed you because I wanted to so badly I couldn’t see straight”. 5) The Paradigm Shift Observations by jesterkoops Chapter 10: The Paradigm Shift Culmination, Sheldon can’t help but kiss Amy 3 times. Why I like to read it: When Sheldon says “I’m really sorry, I just… I can’t…” , my heart drops and then he says “I can’t leave it at two…”, I get all giddy inside. Amy will definitely put his love of repetition to good use someday. 6) The Parentage Realisation by shamy4ever End of Chapter 5 into Chapter 6, Sheldon realizes he is a father to four year old twins. Why I like to read it: I’m a sucker for a Shamy fanfic with kids in it. Personally I don’t think they will have kids on the show, but I like the idea and turn to fanfics to read about it. The emotion in these chapters and Sheldon realizing he is a father to twins is incredibly moving. 7) The Family Reunion Probability Theorem by Misophonia Chapter 38, Sheldon tries to find the perfect way to tell Amy “I love you” and it couldn’t be more perfect. Why I like to read it: I’m pretty sure I want Sheldon to say “I love you” more than I want Sheldon to kiss Amy. I love how much thought he put into saying it and even got some advice from Raj. I love this story and the “I love you” part is the best part of the story.

I have a new WIP up at Fanfiction.com. I am going to work through my feelings about the season finale taping report. It's called the Make-up Inefficacy. I've just posted chapter 2. The current story is going to be told from Sheldon's point of view, while the story of Amy's summer is going to be told in a series of flashbacks. And I just watched Frozen for the first time last night. So now Amy's theme song for the story is "Let it Go".
