Master-Sephiroth Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I never thought it'd happen, but it has! I ended a particularly bad joke with 'Bazinga!' after telling it. And, I wasn't feeling too well so I asked my mom to sing 'Soft Kitty' to me (she refused though). Anybody else gone a bit Sheldon besides me? floyd_girl Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I wasn't feeling to hot a few days ago, so I called my friend on skype (he's also a TBBT fan) and he sang Soft Kitty to me :D. I also often say hi by using this gesture http://secondblooming.typepad.com/.a/6a01156faec925970c0154321a971e970c-800wi :D.
BazingaGirl Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I think I've always been a bit Sheldony - I've been known in many places of employment as the one who always comes out with trivia about something we're discussing. (One time, someone actually bought me a book full of fun facts!) and because I have a science degree, I tend to spout off scientific jargon at odd times. And I love Doctor Who and movies that involve time travel. But I hasten to add - I generally interact well with others!
Mousedroppings Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Well, the other day I explained how to play "rock paper scissors lizard Spock" to my friend, and I laughed at a Star Trek reference on a different show (even though I've never, ever watched Star Trek myself). But that's probably not very Sheldony at all.

But that's probably not very Sheldony at all. I was waiting with my daughter at her netball game last weekend and we ended up playing rock paper scissors lizard Spock. Unfortunately I couldn't remember all the rules about what beats what!
floyd_girl Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 It's impossible for me to learn who to play rock paper scissors lizard Spock, but I'm going to try :D.

floyd_girl Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I believe that after this my friends will really think that I'm a loony, but on the other hand - they should get used to it by now :D.
Mousedroppings Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Lol. I was just quoting Sheldon, but we never actually attempted to play, though we were going to. It would take me a while to decipher who won and who lost.
netmouse Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 We used to sing "Soft Kitty" in primary school... that's like 30-odd years ago for me. I once tried the Scanners mind-blow on my sister (it doesn't work btw)

Pipedreams Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I was re-watching the earlier seres and ended up on ebay buying a new wallet and a Japanese puzzle box. Sheldon just seems to get inside the brain. A form of Osmosis perhaps?
BazingaGirl Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I hope for your sake that your new wallet has enough inserts for cards. Remember to allow one for your honorary Justice League of America membership card. I also ordered a Flip-fold for my mother's day present. dounut789 Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I always try to settle arguements with Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock. I also sang that one song "Deep in the Heart of Texas" when people are talking about something I don't want to hear. The other day, I knocked like Sheldon does, without realizing it! Master-Sephiroth Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I almost did the Sheldon knock... but something stopped me (luckily or not so much?).
Norgay Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 A form of Osmosis perhaps? As long as one doesn't become Sheldonese by mitosis, one should be fine. As for myself: I chuckled like Sheldon a couple of times and people seemed to get really uncomfortable around me. Besides that, I'm nothing like Sheldon, except maybe for the fact that I tend to use perceived intellectualism as a protective mechanism. Pomita Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I think I always was a bit Sheldonesque, and now after watching this show it's become more prominent because it actually feels good instead of embarrassing. Specially when I'm around friends who are fans themselves. For example: science geek, having favorite spots and fixed routines, a bit of social awkwardness, don't drink, very passionate about fanship loyalties, too logical and analytical for my own good (I'm told),.. and now of course I do the 'soft kitty' thing and the 'live long and prosper' thing, too. Recently I noticed that I count the number of times I stir sugar in my coffee, and it has to be a fixed number; and that seemed so like something Sheldon would do! I have my fixed routines, and hubby and I each have our fixed spot on the couch. And I've always been a science geek. And I don't drink alcohol or coffee. Mousedroppings Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Naw, thanks dear. I'm not as bad as Sheldon was, but my throat's sore and my voice keeps coming and going. At least now I have something to look forward to every time I get sick. .

Never mind, we can do a round. @Mousedroppings - get well soon, anyway!
