I also count trees, dogs, cats etc. and it makes me rage!

I went to see a doc but he said that i need medications to cure it so i said no thanks.

Is something considered OCD if it occurs regularly, but at extended intervals?

ie: is it OCD for me to worry about my freezer once every 2 weeks? Or is it only considered OCD if I worry and check my freezer 10 times a day, every day?

If OCD relies on a quantative consistency (big word!) to qualify, then is my checking my freezer every now and then simply nothing more than an annoying habit?

I think OCD happens all the time, some say even when you are sleeping!

I studied OCD for a long time,to be precise since i found out i had one so i think i could get a PhD in OCD

Like the name says ''Obsessive'' it means you can't stop thinking about it,so i guess your problem isn't OCD(maybe a weak form).

I just hate it when i'm on my computer and i spend more time positioning the speakers to be at the exactly same distance from monitor than actually playing video games!

I think this post is one of your best examples of Sheldonism. :)

@Pomita: I was pretty impressed with my analysis too, lolz... considering it was 4am when I posted it.

I think when the general population thinks of someone with OCD, they think of someone who washes their hands 200 times a day.

Could some of you OCD peeps come to my place and help me get my shite sorted out? I start organising, then get overwhelmed by stuff and never end up finishing. It's really only my garage that is the issue, but it is driving me nuts.

I have Asperger's syndrome, actually, Cheekydevil. It's probably quite mild for me because I'm not quite as socially handicapped as perhaps should be, but I do have an obsessive interest or two, lol.

But in the end, people with learning disabilities and the like end up being geniuses, haha.

I hope I didn't insult you. Does that mean I should never play trivial pursuit with you? LOL

I have Asperger's and quite frankly, I think it is hookum for saying "He doesn't like to get close to people, something is WRONG with him!"

I am just very introverted when it comes to things that's all, and my lack of empathy is the fact that 90% of all problems are usually caused by the person themself...why would I feel sorry for them making a mistake? Learn from it and move on.

Well, if people were like ME I'd like them a lot more!

My daughter has it as well

You make some very good points there. Especially in regards to people making self inflicted problems. I agree with that one.

Asperger's syndrome?

Doctors never said i had one but i don't like crowds and socializing very much,i'm not creepy but people make me nervous sometimes.

I'm right with you there. A fair amount of social anxiety going on, the kind which makes me go and sit alone for lunch at the cafeteria sometimes, instead of joining a group I know but am not really that close to, because the conversation would be an effort.

This thread is beginning to resemble a therapy session!

I think I found where I have a lack of empathy.

Those shows where at the end they'll have a voiceover saying 'if you've been affected by any of the issues raised in this programme' or something like that. I just go "how the frack can you be affected by something mentioned in a frackin' TV programme?" My dad's mate had a go at me for this though. >_>

I see where your coming from, but I also understand that for tv show they like to raise issues that affect us in every day life. I found that once I had seen someone go through depression in a tv show I understood the struggle I had with it a lot better. I was 18 and had just started to see life in perspective again, and seeing someone else go through it, (although fake) helped me understand that I had nothing to be ashamed of. I am a much happier person now and wouldn't be the person I am without having gone through it.
