How long do you have to wait for your BBT?

From what some members have been posting, it sounds like some of us have to wait a little longer than others to watch a current episode of TBBT (legitimately that is)

For those of us outside the USA, how long between a new episode airing on CBS and you being able to see it on your local television network?

Here in Australia, we appear to be a good 4 to 5 months behind.

The US season starter in September is getting close to our prime time shut down for Christmas.

Most of our prime time shows stop airing around November.

TBBT usually begins around February/March here.

I think this really sucks, given that today's technology allows for live streaming.

We used to get Two And A Half Men "live streamed" from the US the following night, but for some reason, our local carrier stopped doing it several years ago.

There is a very good argument for video piracy here somewhere, but I digress.

In Holland we have had season 4, but I have no idea when they started airing it here. It also depends if the network picks up the show for the new season. If ratings ( dutch ) aren't good enough they drop shows like a hot potato..

That said I have S1-3 on DVD & 4 on Amazon pre order :)

Looks like those of us within the Commonwealth nations get the short end of the stick when it comes to TBBT.

I'm agreeing with mousedroppings and without running the risk of the black helicopters coming to get me, would also like to thank the kind souls that Pomita mentions in her post :D

I know I may catch flack here and Tripper may give me a wrist slap...but P2P sharing...if you BUY the DVD is not stealing. I do it for British TV and I have 12 legit BBC DVDs in my library but I got to watch them first

I watch it online at U.S pace but it doesn't air in the UK until 3/4 months after the premiere. The last couple of seasons have been split up though. So they'll show half the episodes, then randomly stop with no warning and months later, again with no warning, they'll show the rest of the episodes.

Here in Sweden the 4th season haven´t been aired yet, not completely just a couple of episodes. So I guess we can see the 5th season here sometime in Mars-April.

But I don´t know if I can wait until they aire the 5th season here. I like more to download the episodes after they are aired.

I recently complained to Channel 4 about the UK broadcast taking a 10 week break. I got this reply today:

Thank you for contacting Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries regarding THE BIG BANG THEORY.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the scheduling of this programme. As it is a US acquisition, our rights prevent us from broadcasting episodes previously unseen in the US. So when the US takes a mid-season break, we have to do this as well to keep in line with their schedule.

Nevertheless, please be assured your complaint has been logged and noted for the information of those responsible for our programming.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us. We appreciate all feedback from our viewers; complimentary or otherwise.

Regards,

Angie Young

Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries

The thing is the US show never took a 10 week mid-season break. They missed the odd week every now and then so maybe got to about 4 weeks over the season. So all E4 need to do is show a film every now and then when the US takes a one week break.

But season 4 has already been screened in it's entirety in the US, so in theory there is no reason for Channel 4 to take that mid season break.

Sounds like Channel 4 finding an excuse to extend the season and keep their ratings up for as long as possible.

@Seph: lolz... no, what we were discussing was why in the UK you guys have to put up with a split season, hence, delaying the time between episode airings.

Ratings was one of the possible reasons I offered as to why they might do this.

The only other reason I could suggest is that the management at Channel 4 are bat crap crazy :D lolz
