netmouse Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 He played ZORK. It's a very very old PC rpg that was purely text. We used to play it at school on our Commodore VIC 20 computers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zork

BazingaGirl Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 One of the first computer games I played was Apple Adventure on my cousin's apple computer in California. I remember getting very frustrated with it. Bottle What do you want to do with bottle? Drink The bottle is now empty Food What do you want to do with food? Eat Thank you, that was delicious. Arghhhh!!!
Imapotato Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 How about Star Trek Interactive text based games...what a pain those were!
netmouse Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Star Trek pen and paper... remember the one where you used grey lead pencil and drew a dot then folded the paper over, rubbed over the back of the dot and if it hit one of the other's ships when you unfolded it.. you got a hit !! Or was this not popular outside of my primary school? >< lol
netmouse Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I was watching this episode last night and I soon realised that I had jumped the gun a bit with regards to naming the text based game Sheldon plays in it. In the episode, the name of the game isn't actually disclosed. I recognised it as Zork as the part where Sheldon is trying to get the bucket of mud past the dragon is actually part of the game script from the game Zork. katiekins1803 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I think one of my favourite old games was Hugo's House of Horrors
bartender86 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I thought the same as BazingaGirl, I had a 1987 Tandy growing up, made by apple if remember right. It had the game Adventure that she mentioned and I played so many hours on that game. Mostly cuz there were no hints, clues, game manuals or even a 'how to play' button lol it took hours just figuring out the right way to type in your actions. Anyway I vaguely remember a scene in game where a troll blocks yur path and if u have no weapon or respond wrong it kills you. Wow, looking back on that, kids nowadays have no clue how their favorite games got started and they wuld flip if they had to go back to playing the games we grew up on lmao! Conan did a bit last night where he played several Atari 2600 games(Tank, Golf, Missle Command, Space Invaders, ET, where you had to get pieces of a phone. To phone home). Looking back at those just wow, compared to today's graphics. Blocks, no or minimum color, ridiculous looking motion. But, we were mesmerized.
