They have barely scratched the surface on these two yet and seem to be focusing on the other two couples first and saving the shamy for a longer development period. From what he says in the video about his shows, I think he and the writers are as fascinated by the Shamy as many viewers are. They seem to be intrigued by the possibilities of how these completely unique characters will find their way through the development of their relationship. Obviously, Sheldon isn't going to react to Amy the way Leonard or Howard would react to a girlfriend. And Amy, for all her talk about what she seems to have read or heard about relationships, she doesn't really have any real world experience herself. I think she has a vivid imagination as to what it could be like, but in many ways she's almost as naive as Sheldon. Though NOBODY'S as naive as Sheldon. I can take a slow burn, so I don't mind them proceeding at a glacial pace. Like I mentioned in another thread, I'm an XF fan. Most of the shenny fangirls out there are highly obsessed with Jim Parsons. So, as to live their dreams of having a relationship with the guy, they settle for pairing off the two to fulfill that fantasy. That's exactly what I think! Bring on Shenny!" or "you're runining it, Sheldon & Penny forever" and stupid stuff like that. I mean for goodness gracious I wanted to kick them over my computer. Oh my Gosh... I'm sure some people would like to launch a few words at him if they had the chance. Mayim knows the score and I doubt the shenny comments bother her too much. It must be more difficult having criticism from her community. Why they just can't be proud and support her defies me. But you'll always get this kind of thing online. People are far more aggressive hiding behind computers. It's not very civilising. It seems to have the opposite effect on us. Same foursome but how boring as compared to last week's pictionary. The writers always make Amy needy and disappointed vis a vis Sheldon; it's depressing. What the Shenny people are upset about is that last night's episode made it very plain that Penny is going to continue to be with Leonard and will NEVER be with Sheldon. When she finally saw what he did for a living she found it both entrancing and errotic. From Penny's aspect, compare what Leonard does with watching what Sheldon does when he writes numbrs on a board. Leonard wins hands down. Sorry Shenny fanatics, it ain't EVER going to happen. But, I think amy and sheldon would be funnier too -- we just need more development and it would be in a different way. No romance is needed for sheldon and penny. Sheldon whould never have agreed go as Raggedy C3PO with Penny. That's something that sets S/A apart and supports the idea of them being their weird version of an OTP. Sheldon would fight tooth and nail against Penny on issues such as this, so much so that they probably wouldn't even have gone together in such a scenario because Penny would have gotten so frustrated with him she would have ended up storming off leaving Sheldon alone looking at that board. Relationships, romantic ones at least are largely based on compromise. Sometimes you get to take but other times you have to give. Amy is the only character who's consistently gotten Sheldon to compromise on things that were any of the other characters in her place, this includes Penny, would have failed. That fact that he's willing to accomodate her like that shows deep down he values her presense in his life more than just about anyone else. Sheldon and Penny are not the comedic heart of the show. The interplay between all the characters is the comedic heart of the show. If any one pairing was truely the heart of any sitcom there would be no need for any of the other characters. Why didn't the writers have Amy and Sheldon go as Batman and Robin, Princess Leia and Han Solo or Spock and T'Pring/Uhura - Amy trying to initiate Pon Farr in the Tardis could have been a hoot, instead we have C3PO with a red wig; pathetic. Penny & Sheldon would definitely argue & fight and then have gone as a couple out of Firefly or Dr. Who, or most probably Catwoman and Batman easy peasy, she likes to dress up & play: she's an actress.
