Sheldon on the other hand: Yes, he is attractive! Having a crush on Mayim: YES, she does have Sex Appeal! Jim and Sheldon both do IMHO. Mayim may have sex appeal, but that's not relevant. Sheldon wanting to take electronic games to Penny's play because he didn't want to watch her performance, pretty rude and selfish Sheldon. Of course Leonard steps in and sticks up for his girlfriend Penny by taking those things away from Sheldon like the loving boyfriend he is. BlackWhiteRose Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) 10 reasons why Shenny would be the worse thing that could happen on the show: 1) It would destroy the Shamy -> Amy would be devistated and very very disappointed and angry all together 2)It would destroy the Shelnard friendship -> Leonard would feel betrayed by Sheldon 3) It would destroy the Penny/Leonard relationship -> Leonard would be devistated 4) Amy would end her friendship with Penny 5) Bernadette wouldn`t know who to friends with anymore (and in that case I mean continuing the friendship with someone) 6) Howard would feel the same like Bernadette 7) Raj would be a little confused 8 ) the Sheldon/Leonard/Howard/Raj friendship would be destroyed 9) the girls friendship would be destroyed and they wouldn`t talk to each other anymore 10) the whole concept would be destroyed Anyway: Those would be the concequences for one realtionship for which they would have to destroy two and a lot of friendships. And thats really not worth it. Not for me and not for a lot other people. And very important: If the people who ship Penny and Sheldon wanna ship them: Keep doing that and interpret the scenes how ever you want even if its beside the point a lot of times. I just wanna clear up that I never wanna attack any Penny/Sheldon shipper with that thats not my intension. Thats all I have to say about that and there´s nothing more to say. I`m done with it. I think they are the best pair on tbbt when it comes to making jokes happen IYKWIM. Sadly, recently when I discovered some shennies bashing Amy-then Mayim-and now, Jim, I started to get internal defensive thoughts. Now, whenever I see cute sheldon and penny interactions I'm like "what are those shennies gonna say now?" Because of them, I can't appreciate shenny interactions than I did before. You should not hold your partner hostage, simply because someone is threatening to interfere, if you do not truly love them. During Season 4 and 5, Sheldon genuinely respected Amy. He was jealous of Stuart and Leonard. However, during Season 6, 7, and 8, when there were no romantic threats, more "Shenny" teases and more Shamy conflict ensued. Sheldon lied to Kripke about having sex with Amy to save his reputation, but with no respect for Amy. Sheldon could have broken up at anytime if he felt it was too much pressure and the whole Shenny arc could have been established. Sheldon initiated the first breakup. They could have remained broken up. Sheldon could have broken up during the table episode despite being fed lines, because he clearly stopped repeating when Amy mentioned moving in. Sheldon mentioned breaking up in 8.1 after Amy told him it was ok he was not perfect. Sheldon is often depicted that his words are not deliberately hurtful. However, why is Sheldon allowed to be mean, jealous, or upset about Amy when he threatened multiple attempts to breakup, is willing to throw Amy under the bus, and even at one point wished she was dead? Also, Sheldon asked Penny not to hurt his friend when he found out Penny was contemplating breaking up with Leonard. Yet, Penny did not reciprocate the favor when Penny learned that Amy was debating her relationship with Sheldon. Everyone teases Amy about not getting sex, but the moment Sheldon says he is ready, everyone wonders if it is the right time for him. I wish Amy would have waited for marriage, but again Leonard and Amy just seem to be disposable. Even Stuart was likable when he dated Penny (Batman discussion with Sheldon), but he was also turned into a creepy disposable character too. This is supposed to be a comedy. I wish they would have killed off Amy and Leonard's characters rather than tarnish it. Penny and Sheldon could have gotten together after 10 years of platonic friendship without ever even dating Leonard, Stuart, or Amy. To create all this angst and drama, and oscillation to breakup two long term couples, only to elevate one golden couple at the end and at the expense of other characters is unnecessary. Lol your talking like Sheldon and Penny ever had romantic undertone or were ever going to date EWWW. Penny would throw up at the idea. Its a maternal relationship for heck sakes, I mean how after all these years ie that not getting through. The golden couple as always been Leonard and Penny. Leonard and Penny were endgame in the pilot when they meet. I have no idea where your getting these presumptions from. That some how all this angst is all about elevating Sheldon and Penny lol. Sorry you clearly are not watching the show I am watching. For the record Jim is gay. So they won't be gettng together. Kaley dated Johnny in real life. Penny doesen't love Leonard? Yeah thats why she married the guy LOL. For the love of everything, buld a brdige. Their was never any Sheldon and Penny. This is not the story. The story is Hot girl next doors falls for nerd (Leonard). I mean let it go lord. TBH its shallow as the only reason anyone ever shipped Sheldon and Penny, is because Jim and Kaley are good looking. Sheldon will never be with Penny. Not only are they not compatible, but she's married to Leonard now. I ship them as friends, but never as a couple. Shipping a couple is a personal thing, and tears at people's inner need to see themselves as one of the couples in the Ship. We identify with one of the characters and latch on to the idea. When they are placed with another... less than worthy... cough cough... (Penny).... then we get our dander up. I was not on the forums when Shenny's were around. I bet the debates were lively and also much hurt feelings. I dont have the emotional capital to handle that kind of debate. I am still taking xanax over the Shenny kiss in the premier. However, I can see how it made for a more well rounded forum. I do take issue with the idea that they can be classified as "free-thinkers" Shenny's ship their couple as hard as anyone, and just because their couple isnt canon, doesnt mean they get the free thinkers label.
