Where is BBT set?

I've just started re-watching from series 1 which is being shown in England now again. Yay! I watched a bit of series 3 and enjoyed it. Enjoying it even more now I can see the characters develop... especially Raj!

I always thought it was set in Pasedena, however recent episodes have had an actress needing to get to Universal Studios in 45 minutes, and a train ride to San Fransisco that was to last around 11 hours... which sets it in Los Angeles. Plus I am sure they talk about going out to the bars of LA... so where did I get the idea it was set in Pasedena?

It is set in Pasadena which I believe is very close to Los Angeles, perhaps now even a part of it. Have a look on google maps and you will see where it is in relation to LA.

The boys live in Pasedena, which is in very close proximity to LA.

Psadena is said to be within "driving distance" of LA. That's what Howard says when he and Raj want to find out where the 'America's Top Model' contestants stay.

Pasadena is where the California Institute of Technology is located. Maybe that has something to do with it, though the name of the university hasn't been mentioned in the show.
