That was the excuse for not bringing her back. They couldn't think of anything for the Leslie Winkle character, right around the same time they brought on Amy & Bernadette characters. Hhhmmm? Seems strange. Gilbert is now on daytime talk where two of her co-workers were recently fired AND she did grow up on the set of Roseanne. Should this thread have been titled "Is Sara Difficult"?

Her character largely disappeared mid-way through Season 2, when they had intended to make her a regular. So there was quite a gap between Leslie Winkle disappearing and Amy & Bernadette appearing. I'm inclined to believe they couldn't write more stuff for Leslie at that point. Especially since most of her character was her adversarial contact with Sheldon and being not particularly nice, really, to Leonard. I don't think you can compare that to Amy or Bernadette who seem to like all the other members of the gang, including Penny.

I don't think she would have been planned as a regular if she was difficult to work with. That she grew up on the set of Roseanne, where Big Bang creator Chuck Lorre really found out who was difficult to work with, points to her not being in the difficult category. If she was, I doubt she would have guest starred in the first place. If he's worked with them in the past and they guest star on his shows to this day, I would guess they probably belong in the 'not difficult to work with' category.

Let's see if Roseanne Barr ever cameos in TBBT.

Perhaps Sara Gilbert was wanting to focus on her talk show.

The timing might appear coincidental, certainly, but it's still plausible that she just wanted to do something else.

Actually, I have a question about the Leslie Winkle character--as I've mentioned before, I'm fairly new to BBT and am catching up on re-runs on a couple of satellite channels--which means they aren't being shown in any particular order. In several of the episodes, Leslie and Sheldon are definitely adversarial, yet in another episode (I'm sure this is from Season 2), they are shown together in a fairly 'neutral' relationship, not exactly collegial, but not adversarial, either. Is there a point in Season 2 where they became enemies? And if so, could someone point out the title of the show so that I can be looking for it? The Leslie character seems extremely 'conniving' on the show, but in a rather fascinating way.

Ok then how about this for scandal: Kaley Cuoco doesn't like Mayim Bialik & when asked about her in interviews tends to evade giving a positive response. Gasp! Discuss.

That sounds like a load of hogwosh gossip to me. That gossip started because Kaley had such a sour face at Comic Con last year, but that could have been for any number of reasons.

IF (and that is a big IF) there is some truth to that, I can see Kaley being a bit jealous of Mayim. Kaley is used to being the center of attention with the fans, the media, and her castmates because she was the only girl in the cast for a long time. Now she has to share the spotlight with Mayim and Melissa, and Mayim got more attention than her at Comic Con. The Shamy is also a hot topic of conversation among the fans and media at the moment. Way more hot of a topic than Lenny, anyway.

Plus, I have always kinda gotten the feeling that Kaley harbors a little crush on Jim (I think Mayim has a schoolgirl crush on him, too). Now Mayim's character gets to have the romance with Jim, Mayim and Jim seem to get along well and click, AND Mayim gets a lot of attention from him (where he used to give Kaley a lot of attention). So I can see that making her jealous.

Mayim also has a very serious and introverted personality, which can often be misconstrued as "snooty." Mayim is also hella smart in real life, so that can be intimidating for some people as well. And just to add to everything else, there is starting to be some Emmy buzz surrounding Mayim.

Your first paragraph is correct. It is just internet gossip and is not true. I was in the audience the day they filmed "The Shiny Trinket Maneuver." After they finished one of the versions of the tiara scene, Kaley went up behind Mayim and hugged her from behind, and she was sandwiched between Kaley and Jim in a group hug for a second. That is not the actions of a person who does not like their co-star. From what I could see, the entire cast got along very well. People just like to start drama for no reason. Unless something happened between then and now, I would say that Kaley and Mayim get along just fine. Mayim does not attend as many social functions as the rest of the cast, but that is understandable considering she has two young children and a side profession as an author.

Well, well, well. For being a load of hogwash, you sure seem to be arguing MY POINT! Hogwash, indeed. I like Kaley & Penny, but Mayim & Amy are my new crush. Plus, when someone new comes on to a show is it really asking so much they get a warm welcome?! Without Mayim & Melissa, the show might be winding down. How about a big THANK YOU for breathing some new life into our show!

HUSH!!! If you don't have anything salacious & dramatic to add, please do not post on this thread. This thread is only for people looking to stir the pot, i.e. pot stirrers. Thank you.

@TWhite: Leslie's character features in the show back in season 1.

I would say the episode that causes Sheldon to dislike Leslie is as early as episode 5 of season 1 (The Hamburger Postulate)

During the scene when Sheldon realises Leslie has corrected his mistake on his whiteboard.

In later episodes (Leslie has featured in 8 eps to date) there does in fact appear to be a neutral type relationship between the two, but the relationship varies depending on the situation.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well at the time they probably couldn't find a way to write for her, she left mid season 2, while Amy and Bernadette didn't become regulars till season 4, as for Kaley having a crush on Jim if that was true it would've been before she found out he's gay, as for Kaley being jealous if that's true she'd have every right to be especially the way they've written for Amy and at times penny has been pushed to the background and hasn't been given a last name but I doubt this though.

Yet again Cbolt, you have left me nonplused. Why would Jim being gay keep Kaley from crushing on him?! Straight women often crush on gay men. Get with it, man.

Well maybe you shouldn't be on here if you can't understand me, you crush on someone and want to get with them and since he's gay that can't happen, now maybe she attracted to him but that's it.

sara gilbert ugly .......... in what universe

In every one

I liked the character but she is soooooooooo ugly. I'm surprised even Howard would do her.

well Howard would do any female, Leslie winkle is easy if she is willingly to sleep with the likes of Howard.
