Filming in Pasadena?

Do they ever shoot footage in Pasadena? The only thing I've seen in Pasadena is when they're in a car and you can see the trees with Christmas lights, which happens all year round on Lake Avenue. But the sets are really in Burbank.

I like the way they mention real things in Pasadena - the Cheesecake Factory, Ralph's, Los Robles Ave., even Souplantation. However Sheldon and Leonard live about a mile from CalTech and could probably walk there.

I work in Pasadena and will keep a look-out for any BBT filming. I haven't noticed any so far, but I only recently became a BBT fan and wouldn't have noticed before this. I do seeing crews filming in Pasadena now and then and they almost always post little yellow signs on light posts and telephone poles to guide film crew people through town to the filming site. I used to see these regularly when they were filming new episodes of 'Numbers'.

I work off of Los Robles only a few blocks away from the theoretical location of Sheldon and Leonard's apartment and I've walked from work to CalTech a few times just to do it and it's a fairly long walk. I wouldn't want to do it every day.

How long does the walk take?

To walk from my workplace to CalTech, walk around campus a bit, then walk back takes up my entire lunch hour. That's why I've only done it a few times. I would guess a walk from the corner of Union St and Los Robles to CalTech would take about 35 minutes depending on how fast you walk. I guess when I put it that way it doesn't seem *that* long. I typically walk for that long over lunch for exercise. I think I was remembering the enter 1-hour+ round trip.

So Sheldon could walk home if he couldn't get a lift easy.

Yes. By looking at the CalTech physics department staff office locations:

http://www.pma.caltech.edu/GSR/facresearch.html

and the campus map

http://cit.s3.amazonaws.com/map/Caltech-map-20110428CO.pdf

it looks like most of the physics offices are in buildings close to California Blvd. It's a good bet Sheldon would walk west on California Blvd to Los Robles, then north past Colorado Blvd to the intersection of Los Robles and Union St (which seems like most likely location for their building).

Thanks!

BTW, I finally saw 'The Justice League Recombination' and at the very end when Sheldon as the Flash goes running out the building to the Grand Canyon you briefly see him running down a city street. That street is Raymond Ave. He is running north through the intersection of Raymond Ave and Colorado Blvd. This is a pretty good glimpse of the heart of Old Town Pasadena. Last summer I was renting an apartment just a block away from the clock tower you see at the end of the street.

Of course, given where we think their apartment should be (corner of Los Robles and Union) there is no reason he should be running north on Raymond as it is a few blocks west of there.

Oh yeah, and then just a moment later we see Sheldon as Flash running across a bridge with a sign saying Pasadena city limit. That bridge *is* in Pasadena. It is the somewhat famous (at least locally) Colorado Blvd bridge. Sheldon is actually running east back towards the Old Town Pasadena area, but that's ok. It's a nice looking shot.
