"Boldly Go Howard Wolowitz..."

Funny that it took something as big as blasting off into space to make sheldon finally have genuine respect for howard. I loved the ending scene. it was very well done, especially amy's expression when he took her hand.

There was also the episode where Howard starts seeing Penny's friend and stops hanging out with the gang. Sheldon suddenly can't function. Everyone else adapts, but Sheldon needs Howard in his life and he realizes it, even saying do much when he breaks down and calls him and Leonard asks who he is calling: "The only man who can restore any semblance of balance to our universe."

I don't think that was out of respect or even friendship, that was because he found it impossible to divide 4 dumplings among 3 people. :) And other such factors of habit.

At one point, he didn't have 3 other friends to split dumplings with. Then these 3 others entered into his life. He adapted. Then he lost one of them, but, was unwilling to re-adapt. He didn't want to lose Howard.

Ok, let's go with that. That's a very human sentiment. :)

Even as a guy I have to admit that the final scene was a bit touching. Overall it was incredibly well acted and written.

I too, would love to see some space station scene's. Maybe something where there is a malfunction with the "Wolowitz Zero gravity Waste Disposal System" (hope that's correct) and he is forced to fix it on the fly.

I'm confused about this. Didn't he finally go up to be the payload specialist for a telescope he built? The waste disposal system was in earlier seasons, right?

Yes, that episode was in an earlier season (S2 or S3). But I thought it would be funny to bring back the joke / situation since he is going to the ISS.

Who knows, maybe they do have his waste disposal system on the ISS too. :p

  • 2 weeks later...

Perhaps one of the astronauts will get a body part stuck in a robotic hand? Fruit Loops would know how to fix it right away...

Lol. :D

I don't know about the rerun schedule. I'm curious which episode was shown this week - apparently it beat Duets and every other Thursday show with 8.7 m viewers.

The S5 finale is available in the "On Demand" section of XFinity if anyone out there uses that television service as I do. (Ditched the Dish and loving it).

Generally, 3 or 4 current season show are available and rotate in Nd out as well as 4-8 previous season episodes, also rotating. This, in addition to the re-runs each week night, and I'm good to go.

I think it's a really great moment because Sheldon (at that moment) stoped thinking of Howard as just an engineer but really as an admirable person and friend.

I really liked that final scene. It was a good way to end the season and it opens the door for a variety of possible expectations for next season.

i have mixed feelings about the final scene.

Its probably the only big bang theory scene were I felt completely emotional and like crying because it was a beautiful scene - how they grabbed eachothers hands and everytime.

But it also felt so odd, I dunno. Felt like it didn't quite fit.

I think it was a good finale scene as it was emotional compared to always being funny.

We can take it as a sign that there will be a lot of romantic relationship based storylines. This is personally a good sign for me because they have already started it know , they can't just switch back to the way it was before , during season 1-4.

Some people take it as a sign that there will be more going on between raj and bernardette . I personally don't think anything romantic will happen between them but maybe they will become closer friends in comforting each other in howards absense.

Some people take the fact that sheldon held amys hand , despite his germaphobia , he will suddly change into a different person . I think he will find the balance between his original self and a person that doesn't mind physical contact with his girlfriend who he will feel admoration for.Watching him find this balance could be quite funny and may be a very positive thing.

Also , last but not least , people think that Panny grabbing leonards had , even though he resently proposed to her durin sex, is a sign that they will progress quite a lot in season 6 and that maybe it will end in a real proposal that maybe penny will accept. I think this is far off as penny has an extreme fear of long-term relationships and I doubt leonard would be stupid enough to ask her again soo soon.

What ever way you look at it , the last scene gives off different signs and it can be interpreted in many different ways so all in all , for me , the final scene was a complete success.

Same here.

I think the last scene left us with a lot to think about and hope for and look forward to, not in a shocking cliffhanger way but in a gentle emotional way.. which is a good thing.
