Opening titles shot of group

About the shot of the five eating Chinese food in the opening titles - are there exactly 5 different shots, one for each season? I know there are at least two different ones, because Penny's hair was different in season one. Plus Raj was wearing the baseball hat, which he only did in the aired pilot.

They're going to have to add Bernie and Amy too, but they might not.

Excuse already taken. :)

I find that season 1 had the earliest shot (with Raj in a cap), seasons 2 to 4 had the second version and season 5 switched to the third and present version.

tThats what i was thinking. The one in 2,3 and 4 was good. No need to change it. this one sucks. Wonder i the next one will have Amy and Bernadette?

I think it should just always be the 5.... Howard, Leonard, Penny, Sheldon, Raj, in that order, from left to right. Just my opinion though. =)

I liked the second one most, too.

They might think of adding Amy and Bernadette, since they're regulars now. I'm kind of neutral on this - I like having only the core 5 in the opening shot, but I also wouldn't mind if the other two are fitted in somehow. (Though not sure how they'd do it -at the two ends? Or standing behind?)

Given where the show is now....it's hard to imagine just the 5 of them eating together especially when the girl in the picture isn't the girl one of them married.

Valid point.

I so hope that they don't add Amy and Bernadette to the title shot.

I don't think they will. I would love to though.

I like Amy and Bernadette but I agree they shouldn't be in the opening shot. They're regulars, in that they're in every episode, but they're not the real core cast members. I see a distinct line drawn between 'the originals' and 'the newcomers'.

Howard, Leonard, Penny, Sheldon and Raj have all had there own storylines but I don't think Amy and Bernadette have - and that's how it should always be. This isn't Friends! :)

What exactly qualifies as a character's own storyline? For example, Isolation Permutation was mainly about Amy (though also heavy on Sheldon/Amy), but I don't know if you would count it as an individual storyline.

As you say, it's Sheldon/Amy. By own storyline I meant where the other cast members are more peripheral.

I'm trying to remember if Penny has had that kind of storyline. Only Barbarian Sublimation comes to mind. Most Penny-specific episodes have heavily involved Leonard and/or Sheldon too.

Amy had The Pulled Groin Extrapolation. That was an Amy storyline. Only the last scene was Sheldon/Amy.

Penny never had a storyline by herself.

BUT, Mayim & Melissa are not in every episode.

I would argue it differently.

A non core cast member would be:

Raj's parents

Howard's mom

Stuart

Kripke

It could probably be argued that there was enough of Leonard on-screen with her at any given time, in TPGE. But I do think that this one as well as Isolation Permutation both focused on her as a character. TPGE brought out her fun-loving and awkwardly sociable side, and TIP showed her vulnerable side.

As you said, Penny never really had an episode focusing on her, apart from Barbarian Sublimation which was about her descent into gaming addiction as a result of personal frustrations (but even this had more screen time with Sheldon/Leonard, probably).

Penny never had a storyline by herself.

What about The Work Song Nanocluster, or the Dead Hooker Juxtaposition?

I think Work Song was very much a group episode, with some great Sheldon/Penny scenes. Dead Hooker.. one might say that, because it spent some time on showing how jealous/protective Penny felt. But almost equally, the focus was on how the guys behaved around the new girl.

I think what I mean too is this: if Amy or Bernadette were to leave the show, it would still be TBBT. Obviously, because it was TBBT before they were ever in it. But if Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Howard or Raj left it would not.

There is the core cast and the core core cast. :)

I can't imagine the show anymore without Amy or Bernadette, but that's just personal opinion.

Same here. I think it' because I can't imagine Sheldon without Amy, or Howard without Bernadette, any more. They've become so important to these characters' lives and personalities, at present.
