I want them to have sex when they are both ready for it. But I think it'll be just as fun watching all the in between things that can happen in a relationship before sex, especially since they both act like preadolescents falling in love. I'd like to see Sheldon kiss Amy first, then another episode where he actually gets to second base or strokes her hair. Then Amy can give him a neck massage and beverage in another episode. Then one where they play spin the bottle and make out in a closet (i.e. seven minutes in heaven) then finally one where they have sex on their wedding night. Its more romantic and builds more sexual tension if they make them and us wait it out like this. Provides more comedy too.

In other words, you would like to see them go through every phase of their 'negotiation' slowly, step by step. I'm good with that. :p

Have you not been watching the last 5 seasons? One of the things that makes Sheldon unique is that he has never had sex and is very disdainful towards other peoples urges. He also finds it difficult to touch others. This has been key to his character and hand holding aside, still is. Changing it, if the writers do, is a big deal and not just another storyline to some fans.

In a sex obsessed world, Sheldon and Amy are refreshing. The more I read ideas about them having sex, the more I appreciate them for not being like everyone else.

Sheldon is 31, it has nothing to do with puberty.

I was joking and quoting pennys ideas

Ah I see, sorry. Theres been a lot of 'when's Sheldon going to have sex?!!!' talk lately. Some peps are chomping at the bit. :icon_cheesygrin: I hope if it ever happens it's a proper wow moment. No cheap shots.

I think he should, he will not change if he did. I bet he would do it out of curiosity/experiment. He said he was not keen on exchanging saliva (kissing) but when amy kissed him he was fine and has not changed one single bit! :)

I agree that there should be a slow progression, but eventually, yes.

Whether it should be a Pon Farr surrender to biology (they both get very horny), or a logical progression of following the path of evolutionary human survival (risk of a companion's germs is superseded by the quest for immortality by passing on one's genes) - that is the question. I think I would prefer the latter, but either could be funny and maybe a tad touching.

Remember that episode where Amy shows Sheldon how to massage his shoulder? I anticipate a similar epiphany with coitus. Hopefully there will be a living room full of listening witnesses at the apartment.

I definitely am for the long slow progression to sex. Just like Sheldon's superior remark to Leonard about cuddling, I could see Sheldon reading all the great books Kama Sutra etc on being a great lover & then being a whiz & making fun of Leonard & the rest. It would be so Sheldon.

With Howard's relationship you could kind of see where it was going, with Sheldons you can't. It could literally go anyway..

This I agree with.

@ annieogly

Sheldon reading anatomy books yes, sex books NO - did you not hear him say they give him nightmares?

I think they have to really. How sad to find someone who you connect so deeply with and not to have the full experience. There's plenty of 30-plus virgins who've just never found the person who moves them. I really hope they take Sheldon and Amy down this route.

I'm a sexual being, so I can't necessarily identify with asexuals, but sex is not imperative for one to have a satisfying relationship. With Sheldon having never, not once, expressed interest in sex and often indicating disdain for the topic, I don't understand the reasoning that he's going to lead a miserable life if he doesn't have sex with Amy. A sexless existence is disappointing only for those interested in having sex.

Amy, on the other hand, appears to be a sexual being and ought to be in a relationship with someone whose wants and needs aren't so different from hers.

and yet for Sheldon, sexual arousal is "a cross we all must bear". THAT line has had me thinking that he may not be an asexual, but rather someone who represses it by using Kolinahr since he thinks baser urges are beneath him.

Also, Amy has had chances to be with someone else with whom she could have sex (Zach, Stuart) and yet, she chooses Sheldon every.time. AND she is still a virgin. And that does lead me to believe that Amy is "all talk" about her need for sex in a way.

I think that puts them in a fairly equal ground about the sex issue, since they both are starting pretty much on the same level.

Amy being a virgin I don't think she could be with a sexually experienced man, not at her age, not with her personality. It would be very intimidating for her, and I think that is one of the reasons why she feels so confortable around Sheldon. And Sheldon, definitely couldn't be in a relationship with a sexually experienced woman. First, he would find her "unsanitary", amongs other things, and second, he would feel really pressured, and Sheldon is a person who needs to have things at his own pace.
