Pretty much where the general direction was/is going now anyway - so not really anything ground-breakingly new.

I guess the producers feel it is time for the nerds to grow up and become just like everyone else, and for the show to become like every other show out there.

They "shall boldly go where everyone else has already gone before !"

Predictable and formula to a "T".

Yawwwnnnnn.

NEXT !

I'm glad to hear that they're finally giving some thought to Penny's career prospects. It's been long due.

About Amy's five-year plan, I don't know how happy Amy would be if further developments in their relationship take 5 more years, but I would. Their awkward baby-steps forward are just fascinating to watch. :) And I'm not sure I want to see Sheldon getting ready for intimacy in too much of a hurry.

Curious to see what they have planned for Raj.

Amy's 5 year plan sounds funny but also sad. Giving it some thought I wonder if Amy & Leonard wouldn't be happier. She'd be an affirming mother replacement.

They do need character growth, I'd like to see Penny going to school.

Leonard has never shown any sign of even liking Amy as a friend. He usually acts as if he's repulsed by her. He's not having much success with Penny, but Amy seems like a real reach to even imagine. Also, Amy has the same attitudes about Leonard that Sheldon does. She's frequently dismissive and condescending towards him.

I don't think they mean "5 year plan literally".

"5 year plans" are a State-Planning strategy that has been used by several countries (in mine too) which consist of 5 steps, each of one year on duration (not always though) to achieve a goal (it could be social, economic, educational, etc). In which every step, when completed, triggers the next one.

This a rough of a goverment "5 year plan":

- Increase foreign investment

- Growth of heavy industry

- Remove most of the subsidies and industrial loans

- Partial restriction of public consumption

- Buy crops at a lower price than the international ones, for obtaining resources and stimulating industrialization.

I can see Amy working out some scheme like this one (including charts, plans, briefs, etc) for her relationship with Sheldon, and even including it to the Relationship Agreement. I am sure Amy is very familiar with history (she is, after all, like Sheldon in that respect), so I think this is what they are referring to with "5 year plan".

She already seems to have started with it, specially on "The Launch Acceleration", by using the Ebbinghaus strategy on Sheldon. I don't think her plan ended there at all, specially since she knows it's working.

Sursonica - I think you're right. It's the concept of a long-term plan that he means. I should have been able to guess this, since my country still has ongoing 5-year plans!

I think Amy and Leonard had developed a nice comradely relationship ever since Pulled Groin Extrapolation. But I don't see it going anywhere romantic. Leonard is clearly into Penny, while Amy is clearly into Sheldon - and the opposite parties are reciprocating sufficiently, if not perfectly, for their interest to be maintained.

Hmm, a catalyst can be interesting especially if there is tons of science. Sorry I was having a clueless moment about 5 year plans..lol. and you know how they worked out in Russia. Spontaneous Penny and planner Sheldon; Sheldon-like Amy & nurturer Leonard, I can see it as endgame it would give the story the long term arc as well as conflict = comedy.

LOL !!!

You are hopeless.

Now if you can stage a kidnapping and brainwashing of the whole TBBT cast and producers, you are on your way. :icon_lol:

Yeah, Amy and Leonard is not happening. Not now, not ever. They have no attraction to one another, no common interests, and the fact that she is similar to his mother in any way is just a bad idea for him all around. At most, what we're getting out of those two is a friendship based purely on proximity and general politeness.

And on top of all that, Amy would never gamble Penny's friendship by having feelings for her (Penny's) boyfriend.

Sorry, just not seeing it happening. Unless of course it's a scheme in Amy's five year plan, just to make Sheldon jealous, and everyone is in on it. Then it might be funny.

True; but that's my secret power:icon_lol: Okay here's my contribution for Penny's career; she tries out for a new Joss Whedon series & has to dress/nerd it up.I think that brings back tons of nerd culture.

YES PLEASE to Joss Whedon!! Any involvement on his part can only be good for the show.

Unless of course he kills off Wolowitz. And some might argue that as a good move. lol

Hmm, Penny is going to get some competition for Leonard along about episode 3.

Looks like the Nickelodeon invasion continues...

Thanks so much for this!!!

Ok these are the spoilers I picked up from the thread:

The first episode of season six is called The Date Night Variable. Apparently its where everyone goes on a date, even raj has a date by the end of the episode. Theres a lot of raj.

Also someone made a closeup on that pic bill prady tweeted, and it looks like amy has white stuff on her upper lip, it seems like she may be bleaching or waxing.

In season 3, there will be a beautiful character called Alex who plays an assistant or a grad student I think, which makes Amy and Penny jealous. She's some sort of a threat to their relationships. Oh and she touches leonard's arm :p

Amy later in the episode has a different view of alex and is not jealous anymore.

Theres apparently 10 pages of script of episode 3, but you need to contact one of the users of the fan forum website.

The Whedon death trope should go to Raj. He could be reborn, not as a well hung billionaire with wings, but as the little dog from last season. Howard and Bernie would take him in. They could play it like the dog from Married, with children. The ironic thing would be, he still couldn't talk to women.

Well I'm glad the article had it wrong when they suggested Sheldon and Amy would have to contend with a jealousy storyline.

It is much better for Leonard and Penny, a lot of fans feel its time Penny stopped taking Leonard for granted, so it could be good for these two in he long run.

A sypnosis of the 1st episode if anybody interested

:icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

Stuart: Here, Sheldon, I pulled the new Hellboy for you. It’s mind-blowing.

Sheldon: Excuse me, spoiler alert.

Stuart: I didn’t spoil anything.

Sheldon: You told me it’s mind-blowing, so, my mind is going into it pre-blown. And once a mind is pre-blown, it cannot be re-blown.

Stuart: I’m sorry.

Sheldon: Said the Grinch to Christmas.
