Season 6 spoilers

Part of the "enthusiasm gap" may be due to them "fixing" Penny or Leonard's problems. The writers have to show the problem they are going to fix. This causes conflict, which causes them to be emotionally distant from each other, until the problem is solved. It's tough to show enthusiam for each other if they're emotionally distant for most of the episode. And most of the L/P Interaction, this year, is when they are fixing one of Penny's or Leonard's problems.

It's an obvious by product of the writers having to write for the two additional full time cast members. This doesn't just affect L/P, it effects just about any other potential story-line you could do with two characters. There's also less Sheldon/Leonard scenes, less Howard/Raj, I'd say Raj has taken the biggest hit because with two new additional females that have to be included in scenes that gives him even less potential time to be on screen where there's no female present and therefore allowing him to speak.

It's the natural evolution of their characters (reflecting real life) as the guys spend more time with their S.O.'s they spend less time together. The only time you see Howard and Raj (or the other guys) together is at work, the comic book store or at L/S's apt. They don't go out as a group anymore. The same can be said for the gals (they only went out as a group because the guys were playing D&D). If L/P moved in anywhere out of the building they'd almost never see Sheldon. Of course the Shameys would be overjoyed because Amy would be there in a flash (despite Sheldon's reluctance in 6-15 it only makes sense, because Sheldon couldn't live on his own, he's just not flexible enough).

One thing I've noticed is that the reports don't always match up with the episodes. This is not the fault of the people reporting them, but because unless you're Sheldon or happen to have snuck a recording device into the taping, people make natural mistakes. Some times people take these inadvertent  errors and base their opinions on them.

For instance for episode 12 "The Egg Salad Equivalency" KYZZX wrote:

"I also liked that Sheldon was a definite badass. He pretty much saved his friends from being in trouble with HR at the end."

I don't know where that came from because Sheldon (and presumably the others) had to take online sexual harassment seminar. This is even stranger because KYZZX wrote the report in the first place. My conclusion is that people are putting their own spin on the facts (ie. KYZZX likes Sheldon so Sheldon saved the day). I'm not saying this was done on purpose or to be deceptive. I only mention it because so many people make the reports the basis of their feelings about the episode before hand and afterwords there's no analysis of what really happened.

Sorry about the rant. I've been watching old episodes and one thing led to another. I hope I didn't offend anyone, that wasn't my intent.

I want to say this first and foremost: I am not offended for you pointing this out, but I'd also like to point out something.

You can compare my last 13 or 14 reports to episodes that have aired, and all I do is report exactly what I see. Sometimes I even write down dialogue and notes in a notepad I bring with me for accuracy.

I clearly was stating my opinion that I thought it was a good moment for Sheldon - it showed personal growth. My thoughts (which were prefaced with "my thoughts") are in a SEPARATE post underneath it. I don't put what I'm feeling with what I report, unless I'm very confident I had the same reaction as the rest of the 236 people in the audience at the given time.

I think that's one of the few I actually posted thoughts on, but I try not to do it any more because I don't want people to think it will be bad or good. I made that mistake with The Santa Simulation by saying I didn't like it, so I guess if I'm writing up reports (which I like doing) then I just have to nix posting my thoughts on it.

Nooooooooooo, I love when you and Monique post your thoughts. There are moods, feelings, and happenings on the set that are, to my mind, priceless for those of us who can't attend.

I think without the writer's input reports would be rally boring to read. Yes, we would get to know what happens, but in a very sterile  way.... Isn't having the possibility to get an idea of what felt like to be at the taping  much better?? Then you have the episode to see things directly for yourself.

Thank you for writing the reports!! :)

Kyzzx and Monique had done an excellent job of reporting the episode matter-of-factly. They have clearly labeled their own opinions and feelings about certain scenes in separate posts. Most people imagine how the scenes play out in their mind as they read the report anyway, and it may or may not turn out to be anything like the real thing (most likely not :p).

I've been accused of "hyping" scenes from tapings I've attended. All I've done is answer questions according to the way I saw those scenes. It's not the reporter's fault if people build things up in their minds and the real scene doesn't live up to it. The saying "your mileage may vary" is very applicable in this situation. I appreciate reading the reporter's opinions, but I still wait until I actually see the episode to draw my own conclusions.

I would like to add my extreme appreciation to Kyzzx and Monique for their wonderful taping reports. They can't be easy to write and late at night no less. Please continue providing them to us spoiler junkies exactly the way you have in the past along with your personal inputs and insights included. :) :)

While I think it's awesome that we get to know what actually happens in the episode, I am always intrigued by the impressions and "behind the scenes" information that Kyzzx and Monique give us.  Although I am new here, I haven't read a report that makes me think they are more concerned with one character over another.  It's in the other threads that I've found out who ships what or who likes whom - not in the taping report.

So please keep up the wonderful work guys and thank you so much...

No worries, Kyzzx. You do an amazing job. Your reports are written exactly how they should be. Everyone appreciates opinions and lil' tidbits :-). Keep up the good work and remember, on the days you'd like a break, I'd be happy to write one.

Thank you everyone.

Monique
