eirwinrommel
I have found rare tape of early meetings between Amy's parents. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw5Ski9yB58 You can see where Amy gets her keen fashion sense. Though when it comes to love she may take after her father. Edited February 8, 2013 by eirwinrommel

Is Sheldon dressed up at all? (love Sheldon in a suit ) Yeah, he's wearing a suit, but I'm not sure she's dressed up, I think it would have been mentioned in the report. Since she changed her mind about the date she might just be wearing normal clothes.

Pomita
Thanks for the new sides! This interaction of the guys with schoolgirls is going to be very enjoyable. I especially like how Sheldon raises his hand and asks Leonard his nickname. Good for you, Tensor! Break a leg, as they say. Monique - I continue to be jealous. How can I not be? But really appreciate you and Kyzzx for reporting back so faithfully, and Moyra for the Jim images she put in my mind with her description of his little jig. Then the monkeys start screeching again and she yells offscreen "I KNOW. YOU WANT YOUR CIGARETTE NOW. I WANT A NORMAL BOYFRIEND. WE'LL HAVE TO DEAL!". That's the kind of missing detail I was hoping for with a report from another POV. LOLROTF Oh, so this was the 'normal boyfriend' reference? I missed it while reading the taping report. This seems to be said entirely in fun, a throwaway comment like Sheldon's 'I may have to cut her loose'. Some people are worrying that it ACTUALLY means she wants Sheldon to become normal, i.e. she's normalizing, i.e. ruining him.

Not to mention it's said right after he gets up to immediately do as she says and leaves her there. Talk about taking things out of context. I may be shot on sight for saying this : but she DOES want Sheldon to act a little differently sometimes...do stuff a normal boyfriend would do. Yeah, but I do think that she doesn't have much room to talk when it comes to normal In this past episode, when she tells Sheldon that she's the best girlfriend he's ever going to have, he could easily tell her that he's the best boyfriend she's ever going to have. So far the only other person who has shown any interest in her is Stuart... I think that everyone wants their SO to "improve" in some way, even if it's just learning to put the toilet seat down or whatever. But Amy has always had a sort of romance-novel idea of boyfriends and relationships and Sheldon has no idea about relationships, so there are bound to be areas of not seeing eye to eye. For "certain people" to insist that Amy is somehow more normal than Sheldon is a little silly. Even if he becomes a better boyfriend to Amy, he's never going to be "normal" by any standard. For "certain people" to insist that Amy is somehow more normal than Sheldon is a little silly. Even if he becomes a better boyfriend to Amy, he's never going to be "normal" by any standard. Exactly! That's what drives me nuts. People keep forgetting that she's not normal either, it's just that she's more "normal" when she plays off Sheldon. She was even back when she was just his carbon-copy. But take any scene where she's with the others and she IS Sheldon. How many times have we had Penny or Bernadette look at her like WTF when she talks about their relationship? Or other things too for that matter. I do think Amy would have a better chance of finding another boyfriend than Sheldon though, but that's mostly because her quirks aren't rage inducing, they're just absurd. And because she is so patient that any guy would be lucky to have her. In that sense, I don't completely disagree with Sheldon that "she deserves better". But that "better" is nothing he can't provide, with time and patience (which she has).

Pomita
In this past episode, when she tells Sheldon that she's the best girlfriend he's ever going to have, he could easily tell her that he's the best boyfriend she's ever going to have. She's sort of said that herself - 'not just first boyfriend, he's the best boyfriend'. In the normal way, she seems to really idolize and look up to him. It's only when she reaches breaking point and loses her temper that she comes up with comments like this one, which may be partly 'heat of the moment'. I do believe Amy wouldn't even be able to stand a 'normal boyfriend' for very long.

I gotta disagree with the Idea that Amy couldn't get a better boyfriend. When first introduced, Amy was as shut off as Sheldon. After all this time I'm convinced that if she made the effort to hang out with some eligible men (go to a few university mixers, like the one where Sheldon was Raj's wingman) she would have a good chance at a more normal boyfriend (in fact the false rumors about her sexual activity could actually help make her more popular). She just needs to pull her 'desperate for sex' persona back a notch or two, so as not to be off-putting. Amy's clearly a work in progress, (aren't we all) but she's made great strides. rainydays
Didn't Sheldon have two pretty hot undergrads at his feet like he was some rockstar? I'm sure he could get someone better too. Penny understands and puts up with him as well, not just Amy. So right there are two females who get along with him even if tedious at times. I'm sure another female would be attracted to him if she got to know him and know how to handle him....if you will. Shelden has a group of friends who love and care about him and have put up with him for years, he must have some endearing qualties. Where is Amys circle of friends before Sheldon, or now for that matter? Is her life all about reconstructing Sheldon to be her perfect man? idk Seems to me she is less "normal" than he is especially when you consider he has other peer relationships that were established for years before she came along, yet she doesn't. I guess that's why she gets a little clingy, because if Sheldon goes so does her entire social structure. Sorry, but I HATE that argument, saying that Sheldon could "do better" only because Amy is not "hot enough?". Because that's what you're saying. Is not only about tolerating his quirks, is loving him because of them, and Amy said so last episode, She does fund those qualities of him that everybody hates "cute as a button". And she loves him, and she's patient with him and she cares about him a lot, she was there to support him when all the others weren't and is not just because she is his girlfriend, remember on the Thespian Catalyst where everybody was making fun of Sheldon and she was the only one who was trying to cheer him up? They weren't even dating then. So, no I don't think Sheldon could "do" better than that. And I don't think he needs to. Why would he? He already has someone who loves him for who he is, with whom he shares intellectual compatibility, whom he really cares about and someone who he is even overcoming his phobias for. It surely doesn't look like he would "need" or even want someone else. And yeah, Amy did not have any friends before him, she said so herself and talked about the times that the girls she though they were friends with her mocked and shunned her again and again. Pretty much like Sheldon didn't have any friends before Leonard and the guys either, so if we apply the same reasoning:. Does that then make Sheldon's purpose to "reconstruct" Amy to be his perfect woman? hmmm no. Edited February 11, 2013 by Sursonica
Tensor
Ok, not sure if part of this a spoiler, so that's why I'm putting it here. Many have commented on how Alex and Raj would make a good couple. However, we all know that Raj has problems talking to women and. As a result, hasn't talked to Alex. We also know, that in upcoming episodes, that "Lucy" will be going out on a date with Raj. It now seems as if Alex's purpose was to unsettle Penny about the L/P relationship, which, seemingly, has now been worked through. On top of that, Alex filed a sexual harassment complaint against Sheldon. Since Raj is getting a woman to date, the L/P relationship has stregnthend, and she filed a complaint; this would suggest that Alex has no further use in the story. And yet, she turns up in the Valentin episode. Many have thought that Lucy will turn out to be Raj's love interest. But what if her purpose is to be the woman that cures Raj's mutism and Alex has been kept around to become love interest?

Does that then make Sheldon's purpose to "reconstruct" Amy to be his perfect woman? hmmm no. I agree that Sheldon probably couldn't do better than Amy. For all the reason stated in the second paragraph above. It is also that same reasoning that combined with the changes Amy has made since hanging out with the members of the group, that cause me to believe she could do better if she really wanted to. I figure that if she can put up with Sheldon, she can put up with almost anyone. If she goes to places university mixers and Mensa meetings she could easily find someone who's intellectually compatible.
