I don't know why although we know practically nothing about this Lucy girl yet, I like her already. lol. Is there anyone on this show that can get on my nerves? It seems like an impossible task.

eta: Oh, scratch that, how could I forget about Priya! :p

Spook, I have a good feel about Lucy as well.  For some reason I am already convinced I am going to like her as well.  :icon_lol:   Maybe it is because the actress looks adorable and the story sounds like it is a perfect situation for Raj.

Monique, glad you made it home safely.   Egad, two hours?   It is already wee hours here for me.  Not sure I will be able to stay up for the full report or not.   I may have to get up early and read it then go back to sleep.  :icon_lol:

I loved Kate Micucci on Scrubs.

Now I want to take a day off work and go to Disneyland with my gal pals.

Lucy is really cute. You guys will like her. She's proving to be a sweetheart.

The episode was pretty level with the stories. I didn't feel like one was primary. Maybe the guys going to the school was primary only because it opened up with it, but it cut back to Raj/Lucy a lot.

Thanks so much to Monique and Kyzzx! This sounds like a delightfully nerdy episode. Just what the doctor ordered (pun intended). :)

I'm loving Raj and Lucy's date illegally much.

The way they end up getting Amy and Bernie to 'help out' is completely clever and meaningful, because the truth is that this, exactly, is what can motivate those teenage girls to science, if nothing else - to see some girls, dressing up and playing around in Disneyland just like them, turn out to be successful woman scientists. It humanizes the whole thing for everyone, because they get to know that science isn't just done by someone off in a dry unreachable ivory tower.  Just brilliant.

I don't think they get to see them, I think they're just on speaker phone. Which is why I thought it was clever. Because society always drills this fairy tale princess concept in little girls heads and here they are hearing about science career from two women scientists who are dressed up in princesses outfits but they don't see it. I don't think it was meant to be to make the experience closer to the young girls, I thought it was meant to be poking fun at the princess vs scientist concept.

First things first, thank you so much Monique for the report. It is not easy to remember so many things, especially when caught up in the fun. You did an amazing job.

Raj's story : it looks like a genuinely superb move by the writers. The idea of the library-texting date is stupendous and the lines couldn't be funnier or more moving, in a slightly disturbed way. The auto-correct "failures" are amazing and they give Raj something very interesting to do ; usually he is portrayed as perfectly comfortable with the fact that he is "feminine" (or could be classified as such) but, because he is on a date with a girl he cares for, he tries to play it a bit more macho ("I like sports") but with enough self-awareness and self-deprecation that it shows a very sweet side of him (he knows she won't fall for that crappy explanation... So he just has fun with it).

Overall, I am really liking this storyline for Raj. Admittedly, I don't know much about the girl yet and the status quo they're in for the moment can only last for so long but the very humble beginnings of  their relationship are incredibly tender and moving : they're both so adorably screwed up.

The boys : I find it a bit weird that they did not immediately think of asking their female scientist friends for help or guidance but I get it... We needed to see them fail spectacularly before they called the girls to the rescue. Poor Leonard really cannot catch a break, not even when "fighting" with what ? 12-year-old girls ?

I also like the whole "let's get girls interested in science" thing. There is quite a trend these days for that kind of operation and they always stink ! Not because women shouldn't be involved in science, of course, but because the messages used in those ads/PSAs/speeches are invariably vaguely patronising (the EU did one of those recently and it was sooo bad !) : it is always something like "you too can be Marie Curie" which, like the episode cleverly points out, is no party. Obviously, she was a genius and she'll always be remembered as such but her life story is not necessarily one people, boys or girls, would want to emulate. How about Grace Hopper or Mary Cartwright : they were great women of science and had fun ! There are many of those in history books and in labs today. Why always Marie, as if she were the only one ever to have existed ?

The girls : Ah ! The eternal friction between wanting to be taken seriously and wanting to be a pretty princess. It's an old one but it is a good one. And it is a nice parallel with the guys and their Comic-Con extravanganza. Many girls want to be princesses just like many boys want to be superheroes (or Space Cadets) and it does not negate their other accomplishments or endeavours.

Again, I enjoy Bernadette showing her true "bossy little devil" colours; she really is a pocket-size demon and if she wants to be Cinderella, nobody should stand in her way ! Amy as Snow White ? There couldn't be a better choice. As for Penny as Sleeping Beauty... Well, first I wonder if it is an inside joke about Ms. Cuoco falling asleep at work on a regular basis (!) and secondly, another great choice in terms of physical resemblance.

The end ? Priceless !

I think I really am going to enjoy this one.

Wait, they were wearing princess outfits while in Disneyland? ? ?

That's what I got from it. Apparently, it is an "attraction" in Disney World/Land/Universe/Solar system : you show up and get the princess makeover (I don't know if you get to keep the costumes though... In the episode, they do but in real life, I wonder) It does not exist in France. Darn !

Oh ok, I went back and read it and you're right. I somehow thought it was video chat.

This definitely works, too. :) Very ironical!
