C-Trayne
Episode looks pretty good eagerly awaiting the girls and there princess makeovers lol!!! The one thing that kind of stuck out to mW though were Penny's "its a joke... Based off real events" lines... Is anyone else tired of the rep eyes stabs at her character. I feel like every episode the writers feel the need to remind us of the fact she used to be a wild child... Which in reality doesn't even fit with the story if she was supposedly in a four year committed relationship right before the pilot.

While I agree with you wholeheartedly that those allusions can be extremely repetitive and over-the-top, in this instance there is no particular contradiction between Penny's past ability to maintain a long-term relationship and the "adventurous" nature of her anecdotes. People in commited relationships can do wild things together (like making out in Sheldon's spot or having sex in a Tardis ) : it is possible that some of the crazy things she did, at Disney Land and in other places, were done with Kurt or TJ (whatever those initials may stand for). Chiara
I think C-Trayne was talking about "I have slept with guys for less" line..... Oh, my bad. I had forgotten about that one. I was more focused on the getting drunk and doing naughty things on the rides allusions. But even the "I have slept with guys for less" is not that bad. It is not great but it is not that bad : after all, she slept with Kurt for many years and on numerous occasions and I am sure he never brought home wine or made fondue or did anything nice to/for her in any way, shape or form. Who knows what motivated her to stay with this particular individual and keep on having sex with him. To me, that line would have been worse if she had said it to/about somebody she did not know very well, a newcomer in their group. Then, the meaning would have been "I've slept with virtual strangers for less". Since she says it to somebody she's known and been friends with for years, it is not as catastrophic. But it is true that neither the scene nor the episode exactely need that line in order to work. It is unnecessary but not as over-the-top as other such allusions have been in the past.. All in all, progress ! Yeah ! Edited February 14, 2013 by Chiara

Yes, let's not censure them for that, as then some will be moved to censor. I read elsewhere that the foreign editions get bowdlerised and kill the punch lines. And it can be funny. All in all, progress ! Yeah ! Yea I know what u mean... It just seems like they need to throw that reminder in almost every episode. Its like they don't want us to forget or something... Idk just kind of tired of it at this point I guess. And I agree that in this case it wasn't as bad as a few of the previous episodes hut still seemed forced. And she did say "guys" plural which indicates more than just Kurt if he was even counted in there to begin with my question is, are they being lazy with the writing or is it about a viewer's personal vision of the character. If its about taste then I can't have an issue with that. But if it is lack of effort on the part of the creatives then its a fair comment on the show. i think. Â I still find the reveals of her past is funny for contrast - but getting a tad implausible now. She must have been a very busy person back then. There could be a bottom to that well or at least some rationing. She is demure enough now IMHO. Â Andsome of stuff they are referencing seems ridiculously louche for the young girl she would have been. And I agree that in this case it wasn't as bad as a few of the previous episodes hut still seemed forced. And she did say "guys" plural which indicates more than just Kurt if he was even counted in there to begin with To make matters slightly more complicated, there are actually two things at play with those references to Penny's love life : there's the "moral" aspect and the narrative/creative side.  I, for one, am not particularly uncomfortable with the idea that Penny has had a tumultuous love/sex life. She is a grown woman; to the best of our knowledge, she did not start dating/having sexual intercourse at a disturbingly young age; she only had relationships, no matter how brief, with consenting adults; she kept herself and her partners healthy (again, to the best of our knowledge). The exact number of her past lovers is, in my opinion, as inconsequential to the rest of the world as the nature and duration of her affairs. Slutty, not slutty... I neither know nor care to be honest because I tend to consider that as long as what people do with their genitals is legal and does not involve me, I don't have the right to have an opinion about it. For this reason, these allusions to her wild child past don't disturb me much if at all. Nevertheless, I can see why they may have a negative impact on the character's overall perception and therefore be detrimental in some way.  Which brings us to the second aspect, in a way. Within the confines of the show, these references are always emphasised to the extreme. Every time a comment is passed about Penny's love life, there is some sort of big reaction from the other characters : either they discuss it at length (Sheldon and Amy at the restaurant) or they want more details (Amy with the "hypothetical" threesome) or they look positively flabbergasted (like Raj, Bernadette and Amy in the most recent taping report)... As if the idea of somebody having had sex with quite a few different people were something completely novel to them. That does weird me out a bit because I feel it is entirely manufactured. Especially considering what the other characters have been up to without any fuss being made about it, Howard sleeping with a prostitute paid by Raj for example. The writers singling out Penny's behaviour as particularly worthy of attention/comment is, in itself, worthy of attention/comment and it would probably be an improvement if the characters' "OMG ! I can't believe Penny had sex on several occasions with several people" reactions could be turned down to a bare minimum.  But the anecdotes themselves... Nah ! They can stay. I sort of like them : they're a nice counterpoint to Sheldon's hitherto disgust/bewilderment at most things sexual.

And she did say "guys" plural which indicates more than just Kurt if he was even counted in there to begin with Sheldon's number of 31 sexual partners didn't take into account the long term relationship with Kurt (4 years). That was over one third of her active time as of then (14-18, then 18-22 with Kurt, and 22-25 {7-8 months of which with Leonard} across from L/S). so Penny was only free maybe six years out of the first 11, not counting long term relationships from 14-18. From season 4 episode 1(when Sheldon came up with the number of 31) to episode 13 in season 5 we know of only 1 (Zac) for sure though there may be more. eirwinrommel
I also noticed that Penny may be cutting back on her drinking. While they were having 'the talk' she was drinking water, And while in the past the top of her fridge would be covered with wine/liquor bottles there were only four, towards the back. The God Particle
She has been, yes! This is what I referred before about how her drinking was too extreme at the start of Series 6 (She told Amy that a girl should rink a bottle of wine when she is unhappy back in Series 5) and now it has seemed to have tapered off. Could this mean she is finally facing up to her feelings for Leonard? Personally, I believe that is the underlining of her character's emotional progression.
