Season 6 spoilers

Clothes are the topic of conversation on two different threads (no pun intended).  Can't we find something more interesting to discuss?

Do you guys think the question of tenure will arise again in the season finale?

Possibly, got to the finalist, but didn't make the choice. So, they may finish that off before the end of the season. Or, do what they are well known for and just drop it.

I don't know, if she really cuts loose will she want to go back to Sheldon?

Hey, Leonard got Penny back. Why cant it work out all round?

And he might change. I think they could play with making him more self aware.

Not sayin' i see it, but what do i know.

Oh, come on.  Just because you don't like Penny doesn't mean she looks like a hooker.  Just because she's showing some boobage doesn't mean she's dressed like a hooker.

The dress is intended to show off her cleavage because of the scene, but she was also wearing a jacket until Leonard wanted to wield her like a weapon.  Not like a hooker, but like a well-endowed distraction.

It was the point of the scene. I contend that she looks like a hooker, that was the point of the scene no?

But then again, I don't like Kaley/Penny, so I am biased.

No. What are you thinking. We are discussing fashion. Its an important topic.

Of course you are, but that doesn't make what you say automatically false, it just has to be put in perspective. I objected because you are implying that a dress like that is something that a hooker wears, yet it is something that my wife has worn, and she's not a hooker. Which leads me to think you are claiming it's a hooker dress more because of your dislike for Penny/Kaley.

There's a difference. Penny had plenty of 'experience' before she met Leonard, and still chose him for his intangible qualities. Amy has only gone out with Sheldon, and may find someone she likes better. In fact if she's looking for someone with similar interests she could go to university mixers or mensa meetings. I guess I'm the one that started all this "fashion" discussion. Should have known better to comment on a Shamy thread with the Penny hater on here. I think it funny that I'm so mesmorized by Penny but it seems all the Shamy's are the one's that have pictures of Sheldon.

No. I really think those dresses are distasteful...generally. But I have friends who dress like that and I don't hesitate them to give them directions to 11th Ave. In jest of course.

Ok I'm good now. Did not mean to be dismissive or rude -  was trying for humour

I saw what Hamerman55 wrote about Sheldon's work behaviour and being sacked. I don't think it would go that far but if they announce a tenure result it might not go well for anyone - what if Leonard gets cut loose?  Howard is the only one with big runs on the board.

I can admire ms cuoco's youth and vitality and relate to the romance - but one of my daughters dresses just like her when she goes out so I have be appropriate in the depth of my engagement. I wish my wife might dress that way but she has better sense than me.

Whoa there, my trigger-happy friend. Don't think we should be playing matchmaker just yet. ;)

I'll play along just this once. If Shamy did break up, I'd like to see Amy go to a Mensa speed-dating session. Maybe Penny could tag along for moral support. They meet "bizarro-world" Sheldon and Leonard (Seinfeld, anyone?). I think I might pay to see that.

I thought Sheldon was bizarro-world Sheldon.

Since Chuck Lorre said the writers are fascinated with their relationship and want to see it grow, I don't foresee a break-up, even a temporary one.  There may be an ultimatum, which isn't my favorite plot device for development.

We haven't really seen any good Leonard-Sheldon friendship moments lately and I'm craving some, maybe along the lines of the "bellyaching about their old ladies" scene in TLA.  The chess clock this season doesn't count since they ended up fighting--cutesy fighting, but fighting nevertheless.

WOW what's going on?

Just like to say a few things

* I'm a Shamy shipper who also thinks Kaley has an amazing, yoga-toned physique. No hating here

* That said, I personally prefer more modest dress. Show cleavage or legs, not both, etc.

* She's dressed that way to suit the scene, so it makes sense

* Am I the only one who thought Amy looked nice in black -even if it wasn't stylish?

* If someone thinks an actress is cheaply dressed it does not mean she is personally attacking your wife (or any other family member).

*Why are we fixating on clothes? The characters and story is far more interesting. IMO

*What is going on with the negativity popping up all over the forum? Is it that we are frustrated viewers just venting? Idk

*If a Shamy breakup happens, I think it could only lead to a stronger relationship in the end -even if it tortures me a bit as a viewer.

Completely agree shamylove about the talk of clothes. Its funny...this is not the show where fashion sense really matters. Amy is who she is, and it makes it 100X more adorable that Sheldon wants to be with her and finds her to be a vixen when she is wearing her chunky sweaters. Penny looks good good...and she's always dressed like that. I mean her role on the show is in part to be "the hot girl" so they dress her to showcase that.

I just think there is more angst in recent episodes that that is the reason why drama is popping up amongst the forum.

Shamy breakup? Personally I wouldn't buy it. It wouldn't make sense for their characters or relationship to me if they played that on-off game. Up to the writers though of course. They may write it where it makes sense and is unique to them. I'm trying to change my negativity tune and have faith :D

I highly doubt they'll have the Shamy breakup, but, like you said, I'm going to trust the writers and have faith too.

I'm surprised you aren't getting it, you are usually pretty astute in your posts. Until now, Penny has lacked two things, self-confidence and a "center", if you will. All season they have been working toward Penny having a "Dorothy" moment. ( "if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard") That kind of realization can be very powerful. It can only help her self-confidence. Self-confidence leads to success.

Penny finally has a castle from which to sally forth and slay dragons.

As for the Shamies, Chuck Lorre has said that he is "fascinated" by the Sheldon/Amy dynamic. That can only be good for you.  :icon_twisted:

I agree,  I think that that line is just trying to underline the fact that she realizes that she does have a passion, a love, and it's her social circle; they are the "centre" of her life. I think its another "important" step in Lenny, I just hope that's how it actually plays out, you know what's it like what you read and actually how it comes out when the episode it released are sometimes vastly different. In regards to Sheldon's last line,  I can see Jim giving that line just the right amount of comedic timing that it will be funny when we actually see it, Favourite line.

""Sometimes I sit on the washing machine. But I don't think that will work for you."

and thank you so much for the report all concerned.

I think one potential source of the negativity is that those most invested in Sheldon can sense something disturbing to him is due. The Shenny shippers have always been a loud vocal minority that is surely unhappy about the main thrust of this season. The Shamy shippers cannot be happy with how badly Sheldon has treated Amy. He has done a number of pretty bad things, even for him. It is not entirely out of character as he really hates change, but what we all know is that life is change. I have observed previously that some of the things he has done have been out of character, particularly lying to Amy about her moving in, and having to admit he's a coward. Normally, he wouldn't lie, or admit he was wrong. Strong forces are clearly at play to force these sorts of behaviors. I wonder if using Amy as a human shield was metaphorical, in that he sees her as part of his protection from the real world. One possible solutiom not mentioned is that Sheldon alone, or Shamy could go into therapy. THAT would be hilarious. Can you imagine couples therapy with Sheldon?

There are also those that don't like to see Leonard succeed. Many fans pounce on any questionable action of his, and vilify him for it, while forgiving Sheldon things that should get him fired. Leonard is having a great year. He has a big government grant, so work is pretty solid. His situation with Penny is great, and he has the knowledge that at least one very viable female is interested in him enough to ask him out. He's more confident, and even more the man of the group. Penny has also done some serious improvement.

Personally as a Leonard fan and a Lenny shipper, this has been a great year. I would not mind if they just left things with them alone for a while. It is good to see my boy do well. Tenure would be the icing on the cake.

So an important segment of the fandom is sensing that things are leading to a distinct lack of homeostasis for their hero, and good things for his room mate. The last episode showed him very much the odd man out, and still entirely unaware of it. His acting like a child in the last episode was not a positive sign for him. The experiment of Amy's coming up that proves his mental illness could be a breakthrough. As someone who has overcome OCD/panic anxiety disorder, I know what I'm talking about here. The writers and Jim Parsons have commented on the character showing clear signs of soem sort of mental issue. Do the Sheldon fans really like their hero permanently trapped "by the goblins in his head"? I don't know. I like Leonard, and Lenny evolving. The typical rom-com/sit com shows little evolution.

Scene:  Penny and Leonard are having dinner in Penny's apartment. Penny tells Leonard about her search for passion.  She talks about how she's sure she'll still be a star one day because a psychic at a bachelorette party told her so.

"But then I realized: I'm passionate about you. I love you, and Sheldon, and all my new friends. I have a great life."

(The audience kept going "awwww" over this line until Johnny turned his head and said, "Ah cut it out..."  The audience was told NOT to AWWWW on the next take!)

Incidentally, this scene had the most retakes. On the second one, Kaley actually got choked up as she read the line and they had to stop the take. "Why am I crying?" we can hear Kaley ask rhetorically. "It's not even the finale!"

the writers said that they'll pushing the proposal thing forward after penny agrees that she has a great life. So I think we'll see some of this in the next episodes.
I'm so looking forward to the season's finale :D
maybe we're going to see a penny/leonard wedding

Yes an introspective Sheldon might be good for a while. (Jackass and 4x2 between eyes)

And Amy gets to cut loose and paint the town red as well as her nails and lips.

It would be cute and funny if Amy got all dressed up by Penny and ended up having one wild night with Zack.

... In a dress she also borrowed from her BFF. I've seen just the one, recently. Just as long as Amy doesn't get ideas about Leonard too. He contrasts with Sheldon and is closer to her notional "normal" boyfriend.

(How do you type the Jaws cello theme?)

Amy could never 'wear' a dress like Penny does. Sorry but it's true...
