JoeSal90 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks for sharing the video with us rachygd of the cast at the 21st Annual "A Night at Sardi's".And here is the TVLine article mentioning Bob Newhart's castinghttp://tvline.com/2013/03/21/the-big-bang-theory-season-6-cast-bob-newhart-professor-proton/
I.H.S.F.C. Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I don't think there is that much negativity, at least in this thread. You just have one notorious Penny hater trashing a revealing dress... probably because she is bitter she wouldn't look as good as Penny is said dress. tmp Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I absolutely could not be more excited about Bob Newhart. IMO he is one of the funniest comedy actors in history--right up there with Red Foxx, Bill Cosby, and Lucille Ball. He's a legend. He certainly is tmp among Dick Van Dyke, Lucille Ball, and all those great TV greats from the past. And I can't wait to see Sheldon's reaction at seeing his childhood idol when he comes to their apartment as well.

IMO he is one of the funniest comedy actors in history--right up there with Red Foxx, Bill Cosby, and Lucille Ball. He's a legend. I bet everyone was excited to work with him! The scenario does remind me a little of the "The Man Who Came to Dinner" play I mentioned yesterday, but it doesn't seem like an exact parallel. Sounds like it's going to be pretty funny, though. bigbangsheldon Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 some more info apparently death line never happened... I don't post often, but I was at this week's taping, and wanted to confirm that the "I wish you were dead" line was never uttered. They had pre-recorded that scene, and in the version they showed us, the line was, "...and you are a sucker!!" It didn't come across as mean at all. Basically Sheldon was standing at the door telling Amy how helpful she'd been in helping him to overcome his need for closure. Then he said something like, "And you're a really great girlfriend, and... [long pause, while Amy looks on expectantly]... well, that doesn't really matter, now, does it?" Amy smiles, believing that Sheldon has really grown from her lessons, and she leaves happy. Then Sheldon closes the door, and now alone, concludes his statement with, "...AND you are a sucker!!" He then proceeds to undo everything Amy taught him, ending with the dominorgasm. The L/P scene was sweet, but it didn't feel quite like an "I love you" in the same sense as the first time she said it (I actually don't remember for sure if she even uttered "I love you" in this scene... she definitely said, "I'm passionate about you.") She was making the point that her friends (and she did reference Sheldon) were her passion, and that she needed to start living in the "now" instead of feeling like her life wouldn't begin until she made it big as an actress. At least, that was my read on the scene. It was really sweet when Kaley started to cry. They did a take immediately after she was crying, where you could still see tears in her eyes, and I hope that's the one they end up using!I actually thought the scenes with Raj/Lucy were just as sweet. Raj really made himself vulnerable in opening up to her. I hope their relationship works out!I'm happy to answer any questions about the episode (but warning, I didn't take notes, so I'm only going on my memory). ShamyFTW Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 I'm glad to hear that line was never apart of the original. It was very odd. Oh well. thank you so much for commitment to get us the updates!!
eirwinrommel Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Amy could never 'wear' a dress like Penny does. Sorry but it's true... Well, we don't know for sure. I could see Penny and Bernie taking Amy for a makeover (after a breakup) and finding her a dress that makes her look great (not the kind she would usually choose). Like when Penny took Sheldon suit shopping (3-18).

Puppy Chow Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Of course we haven't. I know. It was a rhetoric question. This forum would be a lot more quieter if we did.

SRAM Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Everybody is just very passionate about their favorite character. For everyone who was involved in getting us a taping report, thank you very much.
BazingaFan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Okay, very interesting that line was never used. And makes more sense... I was wondering what the writers were thinking.
rachelshamyfan Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If it was pretty recorded does that mean it could still be used?
eirwinrommel Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If it was pretty recorded does that mean it could still be used? If you mean prerecorded, yes it could. We won't know until they finish the edit and show the episode (the version they show before a taping may be just to get an audience reaction before the final edit). phantagrae Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 If it was pretty recorded does that mean it could still be used? I think they're saying that the first report remembered the line wrong--that they never used the "I wish you were dead" line. I just want to say that we're still grateful for any and all taping reports! We would really be brain-starved without them!
