Amy's 4 year plan seems on track so far. Naturally, for it to be successful, she has to take Sheldon through the stages he missed step by step and she seems to be starting in the playground.

We've had a game of 'Doctors', then a 'You Show Me Yours' game in the back seat, both of which he's willingly participated in (he was curious enough to take a look, and didn't run screaming)! Oh, not forgetting the hand holding of course!

I'm expecting 'Spin the Bottle' and alcohol induced kisses next; but so far, so good for the accelerated affection plan to date.

See, I'm not even sure I agree with the assertion that she is trying to get some sign from Sheldon that he finds her attractive. I do not see that anywhere. I see that she would like to be more physically affectionate with him (and that's why she milks it every chance she gets), but in every scene so far she's been completely smitten and happy about her relationship with him. She thinks EVERYONE ELSE is weird but the two of them. I honestly don't think there's been any sign that she is insecure or unhappy or would like to speed things along except for the very first episode. It was last year that she tried the acceleration experiment. And it worked. That's why she's so confident she's going to marry him in 4 years.

I honestly think both sex-crazed Amy and insecure-about-Sheldon-Amy are not canon but are just a product of unconscious reinforcement due to the fact that everyone keeps talking about it and so it just became accepted as truth.

eta: The bit in bold: That's exactly why I am 99.9% sure that, eventually, they will have sex. Because this is a sitcom. There's no way they can continue forever with Amy being interested in sex and Sheldon being asexual. I think it's pretty safe to say that the Shamy are endgame for the writers, the same way Lenny are and H/B are. Anything can happen in between now and the end of the show, but, in the end, they will be together. And the idea of having Amy eternally navigating a relationship with someone who will never have any sort of physical attraction towards her is just way too heavy, angsty and dramatic for a sitcom like this. And on top of that there's tons of comedy value in Sheldon "getting a testosterone level" whereas we're going to run out of comedy value for asexual Sheldon some time soon.

You make some valid points. Thanks. I agree about this last part as well.

Blitherblat, I hope not alcohol induced kisses. We already had Amy give him one of those. I am hoping that when Sheldon initiates a kiss, it is from his heart and not a result of alcohol induction. I think most Shamy fans want something "real" at this point instead of from alcohol.

I wouldn't feel too down about this episode, it did manage to strike up some questions and comments about Amy's character which are all very interesting from what I've read so far. I laughed a couple of times on the report alone, and I usually laugh much more when it comes out on TV. Granted it certainly wasn't the best but it's the show's fault for setting the bar so high with some amazing episodes this season and more amazing episodes in the past :). It's only set against the show's standard that this episode is viewed as 'bad'. It's only 21 minutes long, I'm sure they have many amazing hours in store for us in the future :D.

Holy crap! I have not been able to log into this community for so long! Anyway I dont think this episode sounds as bad as some are making it out to be. I had a friend who did go to this particular show who ACTUALLY enjoyed it.

Well, I enjoyed it, I just think it was a bad attempt at a Christmas episode, in particular. It had none of the couples together, no gift giving, and at the end no one was really 'happy' about anything. That kind of sucks.

I just want to add 2 more cents on the whole season 6 Amy thing, now that I was talking with Razberrypie :)

What I miss, more than anything is the Amy who talks science crap and is the odd one out with Sheldon. They've turned her into "one of the girls" so much this season that I really miss them doing stuff together and agreeing on things. Getting excited about science museums and social experiments and making fun of pop-scientists and making science jokes that only they find funny. I really wish they could go back to that kind of Shamy. This season she's had maybe a couple of nerdy funny lines and that's it, the rest are all about not fitting in or hanging out with the girls. To be honest, right now, I'd be happier to see that, than any physical progress. Not kidding.

Pretty please writers. Pretty please.

So other than it was a Christmas episode where the most important people in each other's lives weren't together and no one was happy, it was an enjoyable show! Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Does anyone know when this episode airs? Maybe they are just messing with us and still have a real Christmas episode?

Bottom line, the taping reports typically are not nearly as good as what gets aired because they are not the full vision ever. The edited version gives a much clearer vision of what was intended in the unfolding of story. So while I find the report very disappointing for a Christmas episode, I know that I will likely enjoy it a lot more when aired. smile.gif

I think what disappoints most people is that because it was a perfect opportunity to capitalize on what they had built thus far this season with the couples, instead they went a different direction and sort of went "serious" on us with the issues they brought up (Raj's lonliness, Amy's need to feel sexually desirable, Sheldon's childhood, etc.). frown.gif While there are some lighter moments such as the cat-walk scene smile.gif, most of it was rather "heavy" for a sit-com, especially given it is supposed to be an upbeat time of year. It comes across as story back-fill and not really moving forward per se. It is sort of 'meh' shrug.gif as opposed to truly being entertaining. I am not even sure the back-fill stories were all that foundational. This may not go anywhere and that also makes it even less desirable.

Will we enjoy it? Probably, because overall I can't say I never enjoyed an episode of BBT, but will this be on the top 10 list of great episodes, probably not. And I do think I can say that without watching it fairly enough based on the taping report. look.gif

Yes, yes, yes! I agree. They actually have had very little Shamy togetherness (other than 6.10). They really don't have them being them much this season. I miss a lot of that. I don't see why they can't make progress and still give us some of what we fell in love with with these two.

Not that the sexual jokes aren't hilarious but yeah, I miss that old exclusivity between them too. It's one of the reasons why I feel in love with that couple in the first place! Oh and Kyzzx, I know what you mean. That's why I'm hoping for a new years episode where such dreams will come true :D.

Kyzzx, are those all the episodes you've seen live? I'm curious because AU is putting caps on how many tapings people are allowed to attend a season. Just be aware of that. :)

Yes, they are, but I do standby every week. Last night was my once-per-season guaranteed ones, which I will do no more of. Thank you! Good lookin' out.

I'm not sure when it airs, I'm sure the 13th, unless they air it on the 20th.

The only thing we know about the episode is that this game/nightclub stuff is taking place on Saturday night, but what day is that? Is it December 22nd, the Saturday right before Christmas? It's not necessarily taking place on Christmas Eve so I can get that they weren't doing any of that other stuff but I don't recall most shows (or any show, really) taking more than one episode to cover Christmas. Same with Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I believe 6.10 is airing on December 6th (wasn't that the one with Bernie's mother in it)? If so, the actress that plays her mother said that episode was airing December 6. That means 6.11 Santa episode is airing December 13. If they air on December 20th, then we still can hope for a NYE episode I guess and hope. They are taping again December 4, so they do have time to put in a NYE episode logistically. :)

I feel for the Lenny shippers they have been gypped as the L/P breakup, maybe that's sweeps. Now Amy is interesting, she talks about taking someone home from a bar, while she's going with Sheldon. Amy is sexual and Sheldon's given her nothing, which is a valid reason. Look how the writers cut the spanking scene to make it devoid of any sexual content on Sheldon's part. Yeah they're breaking up & positioning for possible Ramy, which could be fun. Is Valentine's Day during spring sweeps?

It would be cool if they did a New Year's episode and Amy told Sheldon that kissing someone at midnight is a non-optional social convention. Shamy kiss. BAM, SON. There it is. Lol.

I'm actually glad they are focusing on a couple of 'serious' situations. It throws more depth to the characters and gives some insight that some may have been curious about. It cant always be about the 'coupling' or romance. Whatever may be I will be waiting with bated breath,

Airing dates are Nov 29th, Dec 6th, Dec 13th...and then we get a break til mid Jan. :(

i read a fanfic where raj helped to give amy a makeover to try to lure sheldon. I would love to see that on the show.

Also, wasn't it interesting that the "fashion show" included names of stores. I hope that isn't some kind of marketing advertising thing.

edit-- ok just looked back at it and forever 21 is only store mentioned but still...

You only wish this was gonna happen. No one is breaking up in L/P or S/A camps so... quit stirring the pot. Amy's line was clearly to be funny and outrageous. When have we ever seen Amy pick up a man? Come on. She has Sheldon and if she wasn't happy she would have already left.

As a L/P follower, I think we got a little something from this episode. The big thing is that when Amy asked if they were going to pick anyone up both Bernadette and Penny said NO with the same passion which means IMO that Penny is very committed to Leonard. Also it seems that all the discussions about game night between L/P were without drama. Penny teasing Leonard with sex is something she always has done when dating him so to me that is normal Penny. The hot girl show does sound interesting though and I will be interested in seeing all the girls all dolled up.

If we get an NYE episode where Leonard finally gets the new years kiss from penny he had to watch during the justice league episode of season 4 i will say that all the episodes without L/P in them recently will be forgiven. That scene made me really sad for the guy and it would be nice to see the turn of events

I think serious is good if it is helping explain the storylines better. However, I am not certain in this episode that was the case. We learned why Sheldon hates Christmas perhaps, but it does not change who he is or anything else about him, nor does it advance his ability to move forward with Amy. We learned Amy would like to have someone notice her, but we already pretty much knew that about her so it wasn't new and it didn't help her relationship with Sheldon (yet). I doubt they are going to revisit it either since it seems she left satisfied and went her merry way. We learned Raj is lonely and would like a girlfriend and easily falls for his friends' gals. Again, nothing new. So I don't think the serious side of the show was all that beneficial. To me it definitely appears as filler. I guess if it was telling me more about the characters that explain them better it would be useful, but it wasn't doing that, in my opinion. Everything was already pretty much figured out by now about these characters other than possibly Sheldon's hatred for Christmas (which again I contend does not tell me anything specific about Sheldon other than why he does not like Christmas).

I believe they showed a stronger L/P in this episode due to the fact Leonard actually turned down an invitation for sex in favor of playing games (meaning he is feeling more secure) and Penny immediately said no to Amy's suggestion about picking up guys, meaning Penny is comfortable that she is committed to Leonard. I also believe the whole Raj/Amy thing is resolved. Amy just came from their crash fashion show. She didn't feel she got much of a reaction to her looks (from Sheldon or anyone else, for that matter). Amy also was listening to a conversation that Raj took interest in her two friends. She was curious. Amy just wanted to know that she was just as desirable as her friends were and she felt she saw Raj start to take an interest in her and was satisfied, but she made it clear that she was with Sheldon and that he needs to find someone for him. Likewise, I felt Raj's statement was rather weak. He may have found her more interesting than he did before, but I don't think he was seriously crushing on her. He just admired her more. I don't think there is any sign that they will break up Shamy for Ramy at all. Sheldon is working on his own things. He clearly has been doing research on sex to have come up with the sexual line he gave to Leonard in the 43 Peculiarity episode that just aired. He not only understood the content of it, but related to it and was able to demonstrate it. So clearly he has been doing research. Why would he do research on it? Because he knows that eventually he is going to want to please Amy. So I think you may wish for this to happen, but I don't see evidence to support you theory.

I really would like to see a NYE episode and not only see L/P finally seal an ILY kiss, but also see Shamy kiss. I want it to be Sheldon initiated, fully sober, not alcohol-induced.

Sorry to hear about Mayim and Michael's divorce. Praying for their family.

Kyzzx did Mayim seem in good spirits yesterday? She posted on her blog she was getting a divorce :(

Yes, I thought so. She seemed fine. I found the entire set/cast/audience to be pretty gloomy, though. Different vibes every week, this one wasn't as upbeat.

It's really sad to think about now. Having that conversation as Amy to Raj, "Someday you'll have somebody too." Ouch. :(

Yeah, I've been to an episode that was gloomy after an ordeal. I was there when Johnny and Kaley 'fought' or after the break up. "Pants Alternative" That taping atmosphere was not the upbeat it usually is. I think when an event in one of their lives happens IRL if does seem to spill over on set too.
