Everything. She is a drunk, she doesnt appreciate Leonard, she's good for proximity only. She's an attention whore. She seems to want to corrupt Amy and Bernie too. She's a bad example for all the characters. She just does not fit in mentally, intellectually, or occupationally I dunno I just dont like her.

I guess the whole 'not fitting in' part I don't mind because for me it adds some diversity but I can understand why her attitude would annoy people . I do agree with you about her not appreciating Leonard though. I know she's confused about her feelings but still, I'd kill to have a boyfriend like him!

Wow, you must be having a tough time this year with all this attention being lavished on the lead female character. And it will get worse in the second half when they finish the Penny arc.Get some good books for Thursday nights. :icon_biggrin:

BTW, of your list of complaints, how many are still valid about Penny as of the spoiler reports through 6.10?

The only way I could see that final scene be relevant would have been if they were intending to show that all that close proximity had resulted in his naughty side starting to come out. But it does the exact opposite. So, imo, there's no point in having it in there.

As for the "affectionate feelings"... well, he did not mean that in a sexual way in that episode, he tells Leonard off for suggesting it. There have been no signs so far that his "motor" is running. And that's fine! It's still early. I'm sure that will come with time. But I stand by what I said regarding the spanking.

I think the spanking scene (which sounds like pure comedic gold) is there to show something about Amy; that she's open, not sexually repressed like Sheldon and can enjoy it. That says a lot about Amy Farah Fowler and it's all good. In fact I thought about last season and her flirtation with Penny and she indeed may be bisexual and that's cool too :icon_biggrin:

Amy is open sexually but she's not sexy!!! I find the idea of Sheldon having sex with her a bit gross. She's kind of horrible. The old cardigans and the bad attitude. Her friendship with Penny is based on beauty and popularity only, it's so shallow. I wouldn't be friends with someone like her. Even at school, as a nerd, I was never like that.

Honestly, to me, this scene shows NOTHING NEW about Amy. We've already known that she's been one step ahead of Sheldon for quite some time now as far as her needs/wants in the relationship. This is just how Amy is. Think back to her saying, "...there's only so many times I can say, 'how about the bed?'" when Sheldon spent the night on her couch. Nothing new. ...it's just supposed to be funny....same thing with her hitting on Penny. Why is she automatically bisexual? If this is the case, she'd be hitting on her WAAYYY more often.

Her MIND is what is sexy to Sheldon and that's all that matters. That will never change.

I disagree of course.

The mass (mainly men) may "love" Kaley...but it is NOT for her acting ability. I will contend that Jim, Mayim and now Simon are better actors than the others and that is my opinion.

Not saying I don't like the other actors/characters - but you gotta give credit where it is SO due.

I'm really never going to agree with you so its best you stop arguing.

All I was asking you is that when you give credit where it is so due, just dont do it at the expense of the others.

1+1 = 2 ... still not going to agree with me ?? :p

I think Kaley is an excellent comedienne as Vasu says, she's underated, it's kind of sad seeing people hate on a tv character. Penny is the way she is because the writers make her that way! Frankly I found her scenes with Leonard very amusing this season, just like the classic 1-3 seasons. Jim, Kaley and Kunal are my favorites,

I think the show has always shown that Amy is open to sexual experimentation, but they have never really shown her as being bisexual. Yes, she has made flirtatious remarks to Penny but this is a girl that has no filters and does not know how to act socially. She is curious about sex, but she also was very clear that she didn't want Penny touching her inappropriately when in The Cheesecake Factory in TLCD episode. So I don't think she is truly bisexual. She clearly thinks she is complimenting Penny and trying to "fit in" with the "beautiful, popular girl", but I think it is a lack of social skills more than anything. I don't think she has actual sexual feelings toward her. She never had any friends and she always wanted to be popular and well liked. She has been just going about it in a strange fashion and Penny has not ever really "corrected" her on the matter so she got away with it and still does from time to time because she doesn't know better. No one has pulled her aside and said, "these kinds of comments are appropriate and these kind of comments are not appropriate". She is toning them down in the latest season, but I think that is because she is far more secure in her role as a friend and because she clearly has the "hots" for Sheldon. She knows more now about how to be a friend than she did when she first started hanging out with the gang. But she still has learning to do. She wants Sheldon more than anything and plans to marry him. He is her end-game. She has made that very clear. :)

Sheldon loves Amy first for her mind, second because she is very similar to him, third because he sees no fault with her looks. He is happy with her just as she is and clearly has fantasized about her, so to him she is already sexy. That is all that matters. What you see or any others see is irrelevant. It is what he sees that matters. Mayim, the actress is lovely and sexy and they purposely dress her to be doudy, unfashionable, and unconcerned with appearance. That is what her character is supposed to be. She loves science far more than appearance.

Kaley is good at comedic timing, but one thing she lacks is the ability to bring layers to her character. Writers only deliver so much, but the actor can bring so many layers to a character if they choose. Sheldon has many layers, Amy has many layers, Howard has many layers and Bernadette does as well. Raj even has more layers, although he too suffers from poor character development by the writers. But Penny is the weakest as far as layers. Leonard even has more layers than Penny and he too suffers from lack of character movement. But Johnny brings layers to Leonard, just as Kunal does to Raj. Kaley doesn't bring layers to Penny. Penny is very two-dimensional. She pretty much is the same week after week. Her facial expressions are pretty predictable and well-known by now. She doesn't add any surprise to the character. I like the character Penny, but want to see Kaley do more with her (as well as the writers, by all means, yes...please give Kaley something to work with!)

I was watching a film she was in called "Crime of Fashion" and she was pretty much the same in that as she is as Penny. Same character in a sense. Likewise she was pretty much the same in Simple Rules. Bottom line, is Kaley is adorable, endearing, but very predictable in how she will play out a scene. I think that is why Jim and Mayim get a lot of recognition is because they can be totally unpredictable and stretch. They bring a lot of interest because of that. Even though their characters may be written in a predictable fashion, how they play it out can really surprise us and completely amuse us as a result.

Guest I'm not dead Cheryl

Well no offence.. But Jim has been nominated four times for the Emmy... So please try to get your facts right before stating them

And neither am I from America nor do I know much about how the emmy awards/nominations are decided... but I do know that those nominations/awards are choosen by a limited group of people...

And I know that there are another awards like People choice awards which are decided by everyone not only in America but the entire world... and Kaley got nominated and Mayim did not nominated... which implies that many people liked Kaley's performance over Mayim's performance ????

Anyway that is not even my point , my point is that all the actors in this show are charming in their own way and they all play their parts brilliantly...

And Jim/Mayim play over the top characters and get most of the funny lines in their scenes while mostly the rest of them play straight man characters to these two , which IMO is equally tough to act, but the thing is a straight man mostly do not get recognized because their job mostly is to set-up the ground work for the punch line to be made by over the top character and react to that punch line. And the scene is most of the times rendered funny when both the straight man and over the top character play their parts well

Not to get into discussion, but the PCA nominations are not decided by the public and neither is the winner. I did take the time to read the small print on the Terms & Conditions and it says that the organizers may choose the nominations/winners in the group that has the most votes. So, winning a PCA does not mean you were the most voted, just that you were chosen between the most voted, by the organizers. That's why I don't even bother voting for that.

In the case of Mayim, also, I did check the page when it was the turn to vote for nominations..... Mayim wasn't even on that list, so of course she was not going to be nominated, she wasn't even listed. Which is odd, because Melissa was. Also, Kaley is the host for the PCA's... of course she was going to be nominated, she also was last year. I'm sorry, but the PCA's do not prove anything.

The Emmy's on the other hand are voted by fellow actors/directos. Acting categories are voted by actors, directing by directors, etc. That's why the Emmy's are a prestigious award and the PCA's are just a dumb popularity contest.

Oh my god. If someone named tbbtftw there was ranting that the lollipop guild's spoiler thread is filled with "shamy nonsense", what about this one? It's worse. I bet my butt that person's from here too, but I don't see complaints.

Regarding the actors, is it hard to see that all your judgments come from your preference? You like Jim, of course you's see him in an entirely different light. You ship Shamy, you'd think they're the best things that happened. You like L/P you'd cry foul to anybody who tells that that either of the actors who play them are not as good as the other actors. It will never be objective. Nobody's opinion here is objective. Facts are objective, opinions are not. Award shows that holds the opinion of the academy has more bearing than those of those that are solely based from internet polls. And both types of awards have politics and bribery involved. Poll-based have "campaigns" and are based mostly on popularity, without holding so much as to how good of an actor you portray your character or how many days it took you to memorize your line explaining how monkeys fling poo on those they hate, and that most of the time these people clicking on the internet will not even consider other options because they don't know them and have never seen the other's body of work or even have never seen them on the cover of Maxim. Like, how many times have anyone from Twilight won any academy-based compared to poll-based awards? Though, academy-based awards don't hold off that much either because of the bribery and politics that come into it, but I'd take those more than internet popularity-based ones. Some people take Nobel Prizes as anything to show off on who's the best scientist around, but not a lot consider the same filth behind it. It's plainly a kind of recognition on the type of people who sees your work, and which kind of those recognitions you see fit all depends on your own values.

Honestly, for me the good ones are those who know how to steal a scene, even if you are not the real focus. Each of these actors on the show has done so, I agree. But how many times have they done it so far?

I remember what Jim said about his castmembers. All of them do deserve nominations but it's also like saying that all your kids are pretty.

Hmm, I wonder who will win at PCA and who'll get nominated at Golden Globe next year...‹p›‹/p›‹p›BTW Yanina and stardust, I agree with everything you guys said.‹/p›

Not everyone has to like Penny...no matter if she is "made that way" or not. Just like there's one person on this board who pretty much only watches for Leonard. Oh well, we all have different likes and dislikes :-).

Anyhoo, I hope they shoot and kick-ass New Years Eve episode before this years end! That would rock.

Monique

I dont believe they will film a New Years one because they did a Santa one for 1 and 2 they only have two more tapings for the year..and two episodes that will air in Dec so its very doubtful.

I have no idea what they will be taping, but we should be getting a new cover out this Wednesday, yes? Maybe we can start the guessing game from that? I honestly don't know if they will do a NYE episode or not. I suspect probably not, but oh how I would love one. I do hope they get back to the momentum we had before the not-so-Christmas-y episode they just taped. They had some really outstanding episodes leading up to that one.
