Season 6 spoilers

Frankly I don't see much difference the way the writers have written L\P and S\A as couples... When we see these two relationships in a broad view most of the ideas are quite similar which have been tweaked in-order to suite their established personalities

- Apparently jealousy and alcohol are their go things when it comes to moving the relationships forward

- First kiss for both the couples were alcohol induced ones.

- Both Sheldon and Leonard were immediately attracted to Amy and Penny when they first met them

- Both Sheldon and Leonard wanted to have babies with Amy(4.1) and Penny

- Jealousy was what prompted both Leonard and Sheldon to make some courageous decisions.. when it comes to P\A

- Both Leonard and Sheldon got upset because they thought of Penny and Amy had coitus(lol) with Raj (2.4) and Leonard (5.3)

- P\L and S\A got closer to each other due to childhood issues ---- Leonard( Beverly's first visit ) and Amy(clothes shopping episode)

- Stuart was used as a foil to make progress in their relationships

- Sheldon visiting Amy's lab and Penny visiting Leonard's lab , both kind of had a similar purpose (appreciate their partners more)

- It always been the case of Leonard and Amy pushing Penny and Sheldon forward even thought when it was Penny and Sheldon who actually initiated their respective relationships...(Penny jumping Leonard when he comes back from northpole, Sheldon was the one to ask Amy to be his girlfriend).....(this fact constantly amuses me )

- Amy thought Leonard was attracted to her , Sheldon thought Penny was attracted to him

- They are slowly working toward both Penny and Sheldon actually showing their feelings towards their respective partners because till now Penny is commitment phobic and Sheldon is well..touch phobic

- Now as annielogy mentioned we have Alex and Raj admiring Leonard and Amy ( though I'm not sure as Raj/Amy might be a one time thing)

So now as we got Penny saying ILY to Leonard next logical step seems to be Sheldon getting more and more physically close to Amy

I posted this few days back in one of the episode threads..thought I should post it here also

Brilliantly composed!

You can see the writers merging the couples ever more tightly together. L/P are much further along, of course, being that they are in the sixth season of their relationship. They are trailblazers for the Shamy hence Amy's four year plan. It took L/P two years to get "physical", though they had a couple of false starts. I don't think they are going to have the torrid sexual relationship that L/P have for some times but they sure are making baby steps.

Actually, I find it odd, thinking back now, that Sheldon was actually considering having a baby before but as well found out recently, he doesn't care for kids. Huh??? LOL.

So far B/H has broken up and then repaired their relationship and ended up married. L/P has broken up and are now back with a stronger relationship, but still needing repair. I can't see the writers allowing S/A to have a normal relationship without a breakup. They have almost broken up before several times, so if it does happen I won't be surprised at all.

How is she angry and demanding? I don't see it. If ever Amy has gotten angry is because she NEEDED to be. Let's not forget that SHELDON ASKED HER OUT, not the other way around. She has every right to put him in his place when she needs to. As previously mentioned, she actually kicks ass for being so patient with him. I really like that.

I agree. Amy has been angry and upset with Sheldon only twice during this season - during their dinner date, when Sheldon actually had messed up badly by inviting Raj, and during the Wheaton incident, when she certainly was in the wrong herself as well, but that was really the only time she was.

Other than that, they had a mature discussion and compromise over the costume issue, they enjoyed themselves together playing games with Leonard and Penny, they held hands in the theatre and shared some nice chit-chat, and Amy was fully supportive and happy with Sheldon's Hawking connection. Amy seems quite satisfied with Sheldon and their relationship, on the whole - she even considers it more normal than other couples around her!

I don't think that just because every other couple has broken up they need to break up to. Although I cringe at comparing this show to Friends (not that I dislike Friends, but just because TBBT = Friends has become the main whine chant of haters), I always see the Shamy as the Chandler and Monica of the show. They had a relationship without ever breaking up and still managed to come up with stuff to make it interesting. They're way too absurd to need to resort to the on-again-off-again cliche' to keep them interesting.

He might not care for kids because other people's kids are not little benign overlords I think he does believe his own progeny would be another species altogether, hence why they were thinking of "gifting humanity" with their offspring. LOL. I can relate to that though, I find kids incredibly boring, they make me extremely uncomfortable and all I can think of when I see one if that I wish I could be their age again It would really take some out-of-this-world person for me to ever consider having kids with them. The only kid I ever met who I liked was this 6-year-old, friends of my parents' kid, who was obsessed with the engineering of hydraulic pumps and engaged me in a conversation over this for an hour. I would imagine a Shamy offspring to be something like that.

I seriously don't think kids is something that's even on the radar of the show though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. To be honest I'd be shocked if we ever got Shamy babies while the show is still on. I'd be really surprised about any babies on the show really.

Breaking up is something that "normal couples" do, and if Chuck was to stick to his words, he won't apply something to Shamy that is found within the norm. Though, someone said about H/B breaking up at one point. The Shamy has broken up too, and what happened? Whackadoodle took home a glaring. Imagine if they broke up Shamy AGAIN, the implications of real-life possibility and tv-show possibility may cross on a certain level. I know someone named Meg (and some of those here know her too) said that with someone like Sheldon, a break-up for him at this point of his life would be mentally and emotionally scarring realistically with his kind of personality. Of course they won't show that devastation on TV and that I bet something worse but definitely funnier would happen if they were to break up. And also, I bet that if they WOULD break up, it won't last as long as LP.

You're right! That break-up ended up with Sheldon getting the 25 cats and having his Mother have to put them back together to restore her son's sanity. Some would say that should not count because they were not officially GF/BF, but for outsiders looking at the Shamy relationship, defining their status is like trying to find an electron's position in an Atom cloud.

I always though for some reason that it would be kinda cute for Amy to take Sheldon to see that Large Hadron Collider that he so desperately wanted to see but missed out on Valentines day as a kind of extension on her experiment to make his feelings grow for her. I'd love to see them spend some more nerdy time together or for Sheldon to have a panic when he finds out that Amy only booked one hotel room :lol:.

Okay, that's probably a little far fetched but anyway, I agree, the fact that Sheldon gets so upset when they have arguments just shows that he's definitely got feelings for her that he doesn't yet understand or can admit to. It would be really nice to see a way for Sheldon to come to terms with those feelings in a way that's more creative than a breakup. I know people have already suggested things like a dream sequence or something like that but I don't really know. I honestly hope they surprise me .

I always say it'd be more interesting and surprising to see that he's actually already figured it out and that's why he's acting differently compared to last season (being scared of her leaving him, doing research on "corn-pecking", taking care of her, etc). When he has a feeling, he knows it.

That's interesting! I hadn't really thought of it that way. That would just leave a flat-out admission to his feelings, which, if that ever does happen (and knowing Sheldon, he'll probably try to get around it first like he tried to do when asking Amy out) will probably make me cry like a baby.

I totally think he'll be the one to say it first. For as much as Amy is all upfront and unfiltered on the surface, I think deep down she is actually scared of freaking him out and have him run for the hills so I don't think she'll say it first. I can actually envision him mentioning it to Leonard or Penny as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. lol.

Mmmmmm... I wouldn't bet my life on it. But I will go out on a limb and say yes. I actually think that will come WAY before coitus or him starting to have any sexual urges. So I wouldn't be surprised if it happened this year. My hunch is that this year we will get either that or a Sheldon-initiated kiss. Or both, if they really want to surprise us.

That's just my gut feeling at the moment.

I am guessing coitus will be at least season 8 if they really do get renewed and are going for 10 seasons. I think the most we will get for Season 7 is that they are showing more affection toward each other and possibly a platonic night or two in bed. But I don't think they would have them share coitus that quickly, unless they want to stretch their story well beyond (such as a marriage down the road, etc.)

However, for season 7, we might get an ILY if we don't this season.
