Show of hands...who here has a TBBT-related ringtone?  Mine is Mrs. Wolowitz:  *ring ring* "Howard, get the phone!"

I used to have 'bazinga' and the theme song but I got tired of it so I'm just using crickets and frogs (go figure) :p

I kind of wish I had one that went, "Knock-knock-knock, Penny!" :p

How about "Knock-knock-knock, Penny!", but replace Penny with the name of the person who is calling you? You could personalize it for everyone you know.

Guest I'm not dead Cheryl

I have Howard's mom as my front door bell ringtone. She yells THERE'S SOMEONE AT THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that mp3 programmable door bell was the best purchase I've ever made.

I don't have TBBT ringtones on my phone though, I did have Howard's mom for a while but now I have the Tardis sound for calls and the music from Psycho for my texts.... basically because it freaks people out  :icon_lol:

Where would I find something like that?

I have it for two of my friends, both TBBT fans. I recorded different knocks on a door and put each knock into my recording software as a loop with three knocks for each one I recorded. I then used those loops and by speaking the person's name, created my own sound file, which I then uploaded to the phone. I've been after them to record their own names to be used after the knocks.

That's, like, waay complicated.

I did see on iTunes that there are a few BBT-related ringtones, but I think they're all "fake", meaning, recorded by others and not audio clips from the show, which is what I would really want.

There used to be a fan-created site, for instance, that had audio clips from TXF.  I uploaded several of them back in the day to use on my computer, like when my computer booted up, it said, "That's official FBI business" or when I shut down it would say, "They're shutting us down, Scully", and so forth.

I wish I had something similar to that for both my computer and for a ringtone.

Ah, well...

  • 2 weeks later...

I finished my Rubix cube tissue box and my Bazinga! plate this weekend.  Now I just have to wait for them to be fired, which should be middle of next week or so.  I'll post a picture when I get them back.

Anyway, this weekend I was at Best Buy for my unending computer repair saga (don't EVEN ask!) and I was looking at the iPod display while I waited (I bought a nano last Thursday!)

I was fooling around with the video demo they had loaded on there and it was---a Big Bang scene! :D  It was the scene where Penny gives the boys the Transporter toys. :)

Sometimes I can't help but mention or reference TBBT when talking to friends....to the point where I have to stop and think is it too much? LOL.

Heheheheheh, yeah, I can totally relate to that. On a victory front, I've gotten my daughter and her husband hooked on TBBT. They've been catching the episodes whenever they show up on their TV. Now, they've borrowed all five season's DVDs from me to watch in order.

My department chair referred to me as the Howard Wolowitz of the department because I teach college without a doctorate.  But a doctorate is in the works.   :p  Speaking of which...I'm off to do 350 pages of reading for tomorrow.

LOL...soon, we will take over the Earth *insert evil laughter here* Hahaha. I've made a co-worker curious about it from yappin' about it so much. He's pretty much caught up now and his dad LOVES the show.

Someone on my FB feed just posted something (serious) about their research involving the word "coitus". I giggled and refrained from commenting. Half an hour later, someone else has commented "How very Big Bang Theory of you". LOL.

Most people I know, with the exception of my sister, rarely follow TV shows, movies, books etc, at the same level as me.  Even my sister has her limits.  I actively choose when I talk about TBBT.  Thank God for this site!  However, I do sneak in references from the show from time to time....like now when my best guy friend calls me at home, or work I answer 'What's up buttercup!"  He thinks its a term of endearment for him!

I was applying for a job at a large university lab for CMU.

It said right in the job as and I am quoting it word for word: Ability to remain clam when dealing with difficult people or emergency situations.

I right away thought of the boys from the big bang theory!

My younger sister and I were discussing our older sister today...and I mentioned that she's kind of like Sheldon in that she says things that are insulting and she doesn't even get it.  DOH!

My younger sister's daughter, Hannah, had a recital this past weekend and my parents and both my sisters and their families all attended (I couldn't go because I live so far away... :( )

Anyway, my older sister, thinking she's complimenting my niece, says, "Hannah, that piece you played was so nice that I fell asleep for a minute." :icon_eek:

My younger sister told her, "You don't say things like that!" and my older sister says, "Well, what I meant was is was so peaceful..." blahblahblah.  She totally doesn't get it. :icon_rolleyes:

OMG I'm just dying. One of the people I share the office with just came in from a course to use some software and was telling me how it sucked and nobody could understand what the instructor was saying "because she had some kind of speech impediment". Before she continued I already pictured good ol' Bawwy in my head and then she goes on to say "Yes, I think she couldn't pronounce R's and L's". And I had to try SO HARD not to burst out laughing in her face.

I watched Morgan Freeman on Craig Ferguson last night and they were talking about the Higgs Boson and dark matter/dark energy!

Apparently Freeman hosted or narrated some kind of special or documenatary about the discovery of the Higgs Boson, etc.--they showed a clip of him talking about the Higgs.  And he's soon going to be traveling to Switzerland to give some kind of CERN-related award to Stephen Hawking and the two scientists connected with the discovery of the Higgs.

When Freeman was explaining the Higgs to Craig, and talking about dark matter, etc., all I could think of was TBBT and Sheldon! :p
